Prostitution can be defined as “The act or practice of engaging in sexual intercourse for money” (Deigh, 2010, p.29). Prostitution is the oldest profession of all. However the ethics of prostitution is still unclear between many societies.

Art Direction For my next body of art, I will continue with the idea of a brothel. There is a stigma that sex is a bad thing unless it’s in the house with a partner to who they are married. I understand that there are some unfortunate events that happen in the world where sex is used as a weapon to oppress and control people. But mutual and consenting people should not feel ashamed for taking part in commercial intercourse, and to do so in a safe welcoming environment is no small feat.

However, Its population is female dominated compared to men with a ratio of  9:1. Its reputation of legal sex work of course reaches around the world. This news brought in different  countries that have sex work illegal to bring their “workers” to the Red-Light District. This outcome brings the fact that, clubs and windows were filled more with immigrant sex workers of Amsterdam then local residents. One reason  the Red-Light district was created was to tackle the social problems brought by sex workers and their customers, But  that took a damage was the city's image.

Main Street is crowded with art, walls and bricks covered in paint , bursting with art as if communicating to all those who visit that it is a hub for an interesting and creative community.
