ERA OF CHANGE
Just when you think you beat the final boss, but there is one more boss and this one real and it requires teamwork.Gamers, both male and female no matter of what ethnicity, face a racial struggle within the game and in real life.
Gaming is a pastime that many people enjoy. With the issue of racism so prevalent in many games the gamers themselves are facing a backlash from society. If racism can be fixed by the gaming community, then with the influence gaming has on all of it’s fans, perhaps racism will cease to exist altogether.
Back in 1986 the series legend of Zelda first appeared in Nintendo’s Nes in which one of Gamings oldest recurring Villain appeared Ganondorf and series main protagonist is an Elf named Link. Many people

Gamers are often vocal about what they want from the game developers. One study from the University of Michigan and Cambridge from researching 20 different games on four different gaming platforms( Playstation 2,Xbox,PC,Gamecube). They found that out of the 20 of the games 13 of the would-be heroes were white while 4 were in the minority. Judging from the results there is a bias towards Caucasians than minorities in the gaming industry. Clear indication that video games are almost always magazine interview from Engadget "The games industry is hurting badly as a creative medium in terms of diverse voices," Treachery in Beatdown City developer Shawn Alexander Allen told me. "We don 't see many prominent black or Latino (or really any other minority populace) representation in protagonists, critics, marketing or creators. I mention prominent because while many other cultural forms like music, movies, and writing have a dearth of black voices, they at least have people who are out there making their culture better at all levels and are very visible." (Engadget) Allen handled publishing aspects, marketing and minor game development duties at Rockstar Games from 2007 to 2012. He now owns his own studio, Nuchallenger, where he writes and designs. Nuchallenger 's About section includes the following line: "The goal is to eventually build into a company that can help train, employ and empower those who do not have voices in the games industry. Allen is biracial “He said he 'd never experienced "outright harassment," but he described scenes from his time in the industry that contained elements of harassment, or at least subtle forms of racism. Last year at E3, for example, someone asked him, "What are you?" (Engadget). Dr. Gray is an Assistant Professor at Eastern Kentucky University 's School of Justice Studies, and the founder and director of EKU 's Critical Gaming Lab, a hub for researching the immersive online environments within console gaming. “You can’t delete racism. It’s like a cigarette. You can’t stop smoking if you don’t want to, and you can’t stop racism if people don’t want to. But I’ll do everything I can to help” ( Mario Balotelli) Racial Justice is a strenuous topic in America.
“Hating people because of their color is wrong. And it doesn't matter which color is doing the hating. It’s just plain wrong”. The author’s message in TKAM is that no matter what race we are we should all be treated the same, but that's not always what it comes down to. in today's world it’s not about love, it’s all about hate.
Racism is still violent and harmful to lots of people. Its effect is still strong and harmful. Racism is affecting people 's everyday lives and changes them for the worse and there is no sign of stopping. Despite all the movements and struggles racism can still easily kill and hurt as it has in the past.
Racism, though still existent in the modern world, has
The movie the sapphires use racism as a struggle that the girls must get through in the movie and I have chosen two scenes in the movie where it is most dominant. The scenes that I have chosen include the opening scene where the government consisting of all white men try to take the children of the aboriginal community. My second scene that I have chosen is the when Gail and Cynthia go to get Kay from the white people where you notice the different between how the white people live rather than the aboriginal live. In the opening scene, we see the four-girl singing traditional aboriginal songs in front of a large aboriginal crowd because it is someone’s birthday.
Racism is something that needs to stop being taken so lightly. It for one has a toll of impact on many people’s lives. For instance, racial name callings can have many affects on an individual of the opposite race who is being harassed because of the color of their skin. It can truly damage a person’s self love and respect for themselves. Often the ones who make others feel that way are the ones that lack those character traits.
His argument clearly states that African Americans are playing more roles in Hollywood blockbusters as mentors or in this case “god like” for the main characters. However, many of the roles played by African Americans are that of mentors and are not receiving the proper applause they should be receiving. Matt Seitz presents great material in his article that doesn’t sound bias and enough information to make him credible. Interesting enough, Matt Seitz isn’t biased in his argument. This is because he defends the saying “Magical Negro”, a politically incorrect term from Spike Lee (Seitz).
One remaining question is what does tomorrow hold? ZZ Packer used this book as a way to bring light to such a dark topic. While America is not where we used to be, we still have a lot of progress to make in the near future. “Revisiting the Rhetoric of Racism” by Mark Lawrence McPhail suggests that African-Americans have longed for a sense of identity that has long been denied by people of the white race. McPhail said that scholars have been working to understand racial rhetoric by examining the “social construction of identity and difference,” (McPhail 43).
Racism has occurred for centuries, but there is still a chance to end it. Racism split the union of races. It may lead to more violence within the people. Racism should be stopped because no race is superior to any other race. All races have equal opportunities as other
Disney’s portrayal of culture and race in their fairy-tale love stories had often led to backlash and criticism due to racist elements. It’s not a new concept the Disney films have poorly represented the experiences of people of color. As far as Disney Princesses are concerned, the women of color tend to be far less prominent than their Caucasian counterparts. The movie Aladdin (1992) showcases an Arabian princess Jasmine, the first women of color among the Disney princesses. They marketed the movie to people “of all races” devising “Brown” as a monolith to represent all Middle Eastern, South Asian, Black and Latin experiences, which obviously came with some heavy backlash as it shows negative stereotypical imagery and lyrics.
Racism can be solved by people interacting with each other over a variety of different activities. Sports activities bring people together and show that we are all capable of playing a sport. Someone that is racist today could probably build a different opinion if they see other races interacting together over different activities and see how it is socially normal. As long as people build ideas upon people that are not racist, everyone can share the same belief that everyone is equal no matter the
onally, but even globally. What unites children from all over the world, despite all their differences, is that they most likely know about stories like Cinderella, Simba, or Tarzan. Even now, years after we last listened to the well-known songs, they still bring back old childhood memories. But what do we actually remember? “Oh, I come from a land, from a faraway place, where the caravan camels roam.
The first step we should take towards demolishing racism is to allow children, starting at the age of 7, to learn more about the impact of racism, specifically by having to watch a program that he/she will watch 24/7 all about anti-racism. By introducing this topic at a very young age, the child’s mind will be able to easily understand and comprehend the day-to-day struggles of those who have faced the troubles of racism and will motivate them to never go down that path. In terms of laws, racism is hardly mentioned, which goes to show, the U.S. needs to enact more laws to help cripple racism. For instance, for every second some orange skinned, wigged, egotistical maniac uses some atrocious, racist, name-calling, rant directed towards an individual, they will have to pay a small loan of a million dollars. Groups such as the NAACP, the Black Alliance For Just Immigration and the Black Lives Matter Movement are all great
Racism: a curse for the society INTRODUCTION:- "Racism is an ideology that gives expression to myths about other racial and ethnic groups that devalues and renders inferior those groups that reflects and is perpetuated by deeply rooted historical, social, cultural and power inequalities in society." Racism is one of the oldest truth around the world .Racism, is said to be as old as the human society. Racism is nothing but only the belief that all members of each race possess the characteristics, abilities, or qualities which are specific to that race, especially, so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races. And this differentiation change the people’s mentality and bring death among themselves.
Racism is an ever growing issue in the world, and something we can’t hide behind. According to dictionary.com the defintion of racism is: “the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics, abilities, or qualities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.” Race was created socially by how people perceive ideas and faces people are not used to yet. It is the “hatred” of one person to another individual, solely based on that person's belief that the person is inferior because of their language, birthplace and skin colour. Racism is an issue that has lasted throughout history, providing justification for a group’s dominance over another.
