Explain the role and activities of the project manager in relations to planning and executing the project over its life cycle. According to Haughey (n.d., par.1) "A project manager is a person who has the overall responsibility for the successful initiation, planning, design, execution, monitoring, controlling and closure of a project." The project manager should possess unique skills such as the ability to ask in depth questions, identify hided assumptions and rectify conflicts. A crucial skill of a project manager is to measure and recognize risk that might directly or indirectly affect the success of the project throughout its lifetime (Haughey, n.d.).
There are eight key role and activities a project manager should implement over

Planning is vital for initiating the project on time. Many projects fail to materialize as a result of poor planning and weak assumptions (Mrsic, n.d.).
A project manager should outline a clear and precise plan which will be use to direct the control and execution of the project. However, a project plan is not written in stone and it may need to be updated over time (Mrsic, n.d.).
2. Organizing and motivating a project team
A project manager is expected to focus on the project team as they are the key resource for a successful project. The project manager is responsible for formulating a plan which aids team skills and performance in achieving the project objective and goal. It is the job of the project manager to guide and direct his team and encourage them to harness their full potential (Mrsic, n.d.).
3. Controlling time management

Project Concept and Strategy a. Was the Woody 2000 project well-conceived? Give reasons for your opinion. Ans. When a project is to be conceived, it broadly needs its planners to: - Lay down the objectives of the objectives of the project - Lay down the strategies, to achieve the objectives - Communicate these objectives to the staff - Break down the strategies into work activities - Assign members who would work on each of the activities - Decide the activities that will need outsourcing, and account for them - Assign timelines to each of the activities - Assign performance indicators/measurables to each of the activities - Estimate the cost of each activity, and thus the cost of the total project - Take into account the contingencies - Lastly,
To organise for project management requires an understanding of the organisation’s architecture which includes the organisational hierarchy - the grouping of internal business units, the authority lines and interaction with one another. Each of these aspects should be designed to support project management within the organisation. Structure should follow strategy or else it may impede communication, coordination and decision making which are all key to success (Brevis, 2014, p. 224). Hence, an important function of upper management is to support project teams by either redesigning the organisation to emphasize projects or integrating projects into the current organisation (Graham & Englund, 2004).
Prioritizing the Triple Constraint One of the first tasks a project manager is faced with is the prioritization of the Triple Constraint; this can only be done by communicating with the client whether the client understands project management or has ever heard of the triple constraint, in their mind, they already know what is most important to them. If your job is project manager, is to find this out, this is usually done by asking them a series of very, well worded questions. As you master the skill of balancing the triple constraint you will naturally begin to keep track of all aspects of project management and you will begin to understand what to look out for and at what stages of a project you should. Client Concerns and Priorities Generally,
In this course I have been assigned 4 major projects and 4 mini projects. The four major projects are the memo assignment, the resume and application letter project, the feasibility report, and the instructions project. Of these four major projects
It can thus be seen as “a process by which managers discover where they are, where they want to go, how they believe they might get there, if they are getting there, and, as they proceed, if they still want to get there”. To do this efficiently and effectively, planning must take into account both the company’s complexity and its relevant environment. It does so in many ways, which include forming different levels of planning. Effectiveness of anticipation: The starting point for strategic planning is anticipating an action.
The principle reason that motivated me to pursue the MSc Project Management course is the appeal and challenge Project Managers experience in delivering assignments they undertake in their career. The qualification, indeed, lead to very smart and modern careers for graduates who love challenges, creativity, leadership and success. As a graduate of Mathematics, I have cultivated these features in my student life. Now, for my master level of study, I would like to take my chance of attaining formal skills in the area of project management. From my research, I see that Project Management is the application of skills, knowledge and techniques to meet the objectives of a project and stake holder’s expectations.

Fashion is my method of self-expression. The clothes we choose to wear gives us control over how others perceive us and affects how we feel about ourselves. From wearing black at the Golden Globes in support of the Time’s Up movement to the traditional Chinese Qi Pao, clothes can show solidarity without words or act as a way for us to connect to our cultural heritage. This is why fashion is important to me, because it allows me to tell a story about who I am and who I aspire to be. I have chosen to further my Management studies at the London College of Fashion because the MA Fashion Design Management covers themes essential for managing a successful fashion brand, which has always been a dream of mine.
As mentioned above, there are five tasks of management that should be accomplished in a daily work routine. Those are planning, organizing, staffing, directing and controlling (Koontz and O’Donnell, 1976). Notwithstanding that some theorists, such as Richard Steers (1985) and Mason Carpenter (2009), highlight only four of those, planning is always considered to be the first and main function of management. It is an activity that involves choosing a strategy to accomplish the objectives of the organization, using the resources effectively and efficiently (Olum, 2004). To make a good plan, a manager should follow the essential steps of planning, which are setting goals, identifying the threats and opportunities of the organization, developing a plan for achieving the goals, and finally evaluating it and reviewing (Gamache, 2008; Duncan,
Accordingly Proper planning is one of the foremost factors for any entrepreneur to employ. Without an appropriate strategy, nothing can be achieved. Entrepreneurs who want to succeed should have a simple but effective realizable plan. A good planning plus sticking to it will be really an admirable act that any entrepreneur should do and succeed. 3.
