The United States was established by European immigrants over 300 years ago when they first came to the New World. Most citizens are in the US because their ancestors migrated to the US many years ago. Only 2 percent of Americans are part Native American, meaning that they were here before the Pilgrims came. Immigrants are what make our country diverse and so successful, bringing in a variety of different cultures. Our country has a long history of immigration of which is an important piece of our diverse backgrounds. The US has been referred to by many as a “melting pot” because of this. However, illegal immigration is harming our nation and economy. It is critical that we find a way to stop illegal immigration. Our current immigration …show more content…
One idea that many support is that we need to stop the flow of illegal immigration. Although many people despise the idea, Donald Trump’s idea to build a wall along the US-Mexico border will be the most effective and is ultimately the best decision. It will drastically decrease the rate of illegal immigrants coming into the United States. Another idea is to increase the immigration quota to 725,000 immigrants per year. The 50,000 extra spots would be set aside for Mexican parents whose kids were born in the US and are therefore US citizens, also known as the “Dreamers.” The parents would have a better chance of being reunited with their children on US soil, and have the chance to legally create a life for themselves in America without having to hide. The NY Times states that as of January 24, Trump has indicated some interest in giving the “Dreamers” a pathway to citizenship. We also need to bring in hardworking immigrants who will play a part in the effort to bring jobs back to the us. Setting apart 100,000 of the total 725,000 proposed quota for employment-based immigration would collaborate with my other ideas to make the reform liked by many, and therefore easy to

Illegal Immigration Reform More than 11.4 million illegal immigrants currently reside in the United States that’s almost equivalent to how many people live in the entire state of Ohio. Most of these illegal immigrants are hardworking people that help the welfare of the economy and the have a high impact on the culture of the United States. The proposition is that Illegal Immigrants who have paid there Tax’s and have resided for more than 10 years, consecutively in the United States should be given a way to get a legal residency. This residency would give them benefits like a social security which would let them get a good job and a license and have basic human rights. Illegal immigrants deserve these rights because they create the most business,
Comprehensive immigration reform can bring tremendous social, economic and political gains to not only the immigrants, but to the nation as a whole. The primary reason people migrate to other countries is for better opportunities for themselves and their families. The U.S. is known as the land of opportunity and therefore will always be a destination for immigrants. In order to meet the demands and also capitalize from immigration I believe Congress should legalize the current undocumented workers as guest workers contingent upon passing background checks, offer them a path to citizenship and streamline the immigration system to expedite the process for immigrants waiting to enter the country. By newly legalized workers visas and green cards

America’s Diverse Population In the nineteenth century, rates of immigration across the world increased. Within thirty years, over eleven million immigrants came to the United States. There were new types of people migrating than what the United States were used to seeing as well. Which made people from different backgrounds and of different race work and live in tight spaces together; causing them to be unified.
Throughout its history, the United States has served as a beacon of prosperity for people around the globe. Millions of people, ranging from the Irish to the Japanese, abandoned their old lives and came to America in pursuit of a better life. Based on demographical statistics and census data, today appears to be no different. However, the majority of foreign immigrants (within the last twenty years) have not been from Europe; most have arrived from Asia and Latin America. Immigrants from Latin America, known collectively as Latinos, have played and will continue to play a significant role in the society of the United States.
As we all know, there are millions of illegal immigrants in the country looking for better employment and opportunities, and with the different solutions that most debaters propose in order to stop this problem, we rarely hear about job-related proposals. Debates on the subject always center about amnesty, enforcement immigration laws, and border security. We forget to realize that the main reason why these people are attracted to the US is because of jobs. Wouldn’t it just be fair to give these people a chance, the only reason for illegally entering the country is to have a better life for themselves and their families. As mentioned, there’s no easy way to solve this problem, but we have to do something to finally end this.
In 2011 there were over 11 million Illegal immigrants living in the United States, because of illegal immigration millions of US citizens are losing jobs, money, and crimes have gone way up. It is apparent that the US government needs to crack down harder and deport all Illegal immigrants. This would help the people who grow up in the united states and finish school here, earn the jobs they deserve over less quality work for cheaper. Illegal immigrants should not be allowed to enter this country and steal jobs from US citizens. The country as a whole loses money when illegal immigrants come and use public facilities, illegal immigrants also have caused crimes to skyrocket.
Immigration is one of the most hotly debated and relevant issues that our country faces today, and it has been for many years, and within the same topic is the issue of DACA. In 2009, the former president, Barack Obama, and his administration first implemented a policy that would help for the children of immigrants brought to America as children. This policy was called the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA for short, and it provided protection from deportation and allowed the young people to pursue work and studies under a work permit. In 2017, the newly elected
With the population of illegal immigrants in the United States, averaging eleven million in 2014 and growing, many people have begun calling for a mass deportation program to eliminate all these individuals from the country. An illegal immigrant, also known as an illegal alien, is a foreigner who enters or resides in a country unlawfully or without the country’s authorizations, or a person who crosses the border by avoiding inspection. Many politicians claim that is it too expensive and almost impossible to expel illegal aliens however, they forget about the historical mass deportation back in 1954. America should lay down the law and start punishing and exporting illegal immigrants back to their homes and let them enter our country the legal
Dreamers had no choice when they were brought to the U.S. as children; they don’t deserve to be deported. Nevertheless, it is up to Congress to protect Dreamers, and whether or not they will be able to pass a bill is
Despite President Trump’s heartfelt statement, his actions are the oppsite of his words. DACA enables young people to pursue their passions and dreams and to develop their skills and talents without fear of being ripped from all they know. We would want the best for any child, allowing them to become full-fledged contributors to our society. I believe that without DACA, there wouldn’t be any opportunities for the dreamers to continue any further for our right to succeed and what’s best for our future. As we know, immigrants are known as “Dreamers” who come to this country illegally.
Possibly Reason #3 and Evidence The last reason stated is that Children have hope for a better life and future ahead. Surprisingly, 5.3 million of these children are living with unauthorized parents. And these children usually get a high school or college degree, but can’t get a job because of the scare of being deported. “ More than half the undocumented immigrant population has a high school diploma or higher.”
In the open forum “Fixing the Immigration Problem.” Edward P. Lazear gives a few propositions about how to fix the United States immigration and also explains why immigration is a problem in the United States. He states that the cause of the problem is “our pattern of immigration,” which he believes makes things called “immigrant enclaves.” He supports this by saying that when many immigrants come from the same place, they create their own group that still holds the culture from where they came from and when this happens the immigrants tend to not learn English.
