College sports in the US have risen to the spotlight over the past decades. Each year many more fans and supporters of the tradition begin watching and supporting the games hosted by colleges and universities. While it could be said that there are some downsides to colleges fully supporting their teams, there are far more benefits for the school and the entire community; not just the given sports team itself. These advantages consist of greatly increased revenue and school spirit for schools, more students graduating high school looking to join colleges, and communities as a whole can be supported by these colleges. It could be said that it pays to be the best.

While some believe that athletes should have their own choice at making a decision to go pro straight out of high school, they should not do so because they will not be able to manage their million dollar contracts respectively. Speaking of contracts, the NBA should eliminate guaranteed contracts for rookies drafted in the first round of the NBA draft. They should do this because a careless high school kid, could just go into the draft not knowing, or caring on how much they are going to make, with the lack of experience on handling millions of dollars. The United States of America prides itself on many things. While justice, freedom, or equality are all wonderful aspects of this great nation, its greatest pride is sports. Nationwide, millions of fans have allegiances to certain sports or teams, arguments erupt, and friendships are born all over simple games that Americans love. A debate among the myriad of United States sports fans has erupted; what is America’s sport? Another old school versus new school debate, the old fashioned fan will likely respond with baseball while a more modern fan may say football is America’s sport.

Every year parents and students of local schools can come and enjoy seeing kids of their community playing football, which could make a player's future bright, and a grandparent proud. However, some would argue to say high school football is too dangerous to keep around. Kids and adults are then forced to take a side on the issue for the good of the school and the safety of the children. However, it seems too important to let go. Considering the college scholarships that can be provided, the countless generations of players in certain families, and the homecoming activities would be pointless without it.

Have you ever wanted to live an active and healthy life, as well as an improvement in grades? I believe youth sports will help all of those problems and many more. Most sports are team sports that also teach your child teamwork. Playing youth sports is a terrific experience for you or your child. There are many reasons why I feel that children should play youth sports.

Children have strived for years to make their parents, teachers and coaches proud of them. Kids have come to practice Monday,Tuesday,Wednesday,Thursday, and Friday to get better, while their academics are suffering. Students have pushed their bodies to the limits, causing extreme injury that will hold them back from sports in the future. Student athletes are not getting the opportunity to play multiple sports during the year, because they are expected to spelize in one sport and focus on it year round, leaving no opportunity to play other sports or do other activities. Youth sports are becoming too intense for young children to keep up with.

Without sports at the youth level, kids would be behind their peers in the classroom and on the playground. Youth activity also starts a lifelong love of exercise. In Jennifer Lerner and Tom Solomon’s article “Active Kids Do Better in Life,” they note, “Sports participation is a significant predictor of young adults’ participation in sports and physical fitness activities. Adolescents who play sports are eight times as likely to be active at age 24 as adolescents who do not play sports.” Physical activity as an adult is hard to fit into a busy work and social life.

To most kids and students, competitive sports are a gateway to blow off some steam or to have fun. To parents, the sports that their children play and the lessons that they teach are an important part of their development and life. Despite what many ‘experts’ would like you to believe, both of these statements are completely true. I believe that kids should be allowed to play competitive sports due to the health benefits, the lessons that they can teach, and as a result of the advanced equipment and rules that are focused on making sports safe, as well as the fact that sports can keep kids out of trouble. One extremely important reason that forces me to take the position that kids should be allowed to compete in competitive sports is the health benefits that children who play sports recieve.

From the Friday night lights to the last second goal, school sports are a major part of the high school journey. In fact, according to "Are High School Sports Good For Kids?" by Daniel Gould, Ph.D., over five million students from the United States participate in a school sport. High school sports are a great way for student-athletes to stay healthy, make new friends, and be a part of a team atmosphere. In addition, school sports keep kids off of the streets and lower the athlete's chance of committing a crime. School sports are a tremendous way for student-athletes to create new, meaningful relationships.

The first reason sports help kids these days is by making them have a healthy lifestyle with good food and lots of exercise. This huge, as it stops kids from always eating junk and binging T.V. Sports let kids exercise in a healthy way through the important practice and energy required in competitive sports, which is encouraged by kids desire to win and get better, and forces kids to exercise by also getting better. For example, Kirk Mango (a physical educator, former coach, and national champion) says, “fitness improvements achieved through training... In a society where obesity has become a major health issue”(Mango, 2012). This shows that sports are a good way to keep people healthy.

Some people say that competitive sports are not good because of cost, attitude and injury, Others say it prevents obesity, heart diseases, makes you healthier and happier. So is it good or bad.

Nearly all Americans love sports but is it really worth it. In this generation, competitive sports has become more dangerous than ever sports experts are starting to worry that competitive sports has a more negative effect than a positive effect on children. Most competitive sports can lead to severe injuries, pressure which can lead the youth using illegal drugs, and all the money parents spend on their kids to play sports is ridiculous, and worst of all most children are starting to burn out of sports emotionally and physically. Competitive sports do not have a positive effect on all children because of the cost, pressure/injury, and enjoyment. Most people can all agree that competitive sports are awesome, most people root for their favorite teams, they bet on it, and best of all it has amazing health benefits.
