To add, she provides the reader with information on why the cyberbullies attack others and how to stop them. In the article, Irituals Sauls, Elizabeth Svoboda’s essential focus is that cyberbullying has become a significant issue within the teenage community. Svoboda explains what cyberbullying is, why and how it is an issue, situations in which cyber bullying led to other issues, how cyber bullying created a new social pattern, methods on how to fix and prevent the issue from becoming more than what it already is.

Due to social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter things like cyberbullying have become a new way of bullying. This paper will talk about the topic of cyberbullying and the steps that I am required to take if I hear from a student that they are being bullied on Facebook.

Effects of cyberbullying cannot be underestimated. Long-term effects showed that those who are bullied also became bullies in the future. Similar to bullying in person, immediate effects of cyberbullying are that the youths who are subjected to cyberbullying tend to separate themselves from the society and live alone. They develop inferiority and doubt on their skills and abilities. Having the high possibility to be depressed, the worst solution is to cut their own lives for they can see that it is the only way to answer their problem.

Common types of cyberbullying include sending mean or hurtful messages or threats, spreading rumours online, posting harmful messages. Bullies can do this through an account where they are pretending to be someone else or hacking into the victim’s account by stealing their account information. Since there are so many forms of technology, this type of bullying can spread rapidly. It can affect the victim straight away. Isafe.org has reported that over half of adolesants and teens have been cyberbullied, and one in three have experienced cyber threats.

Online it is so easy to bully someone without getting into trouble for doing it, this is why more bullying happens online than in person. This issue affects everyone being bullied, and it can happen to anyone. Cyberbullying is a big problem and needs to be solved, online speech should be limited because cyberbullying happens to so many people, it could help stop harassment, and it could help more people get involved. Cyberbullying happens more than we recognize. 25% of people say they have been cyberbullied within their lifetimes (Doc A).
