Leonardo Da Vinci once said, “Learning Never Exhausts The Mind.” This describes the upcoming tests and events yet to come of my eighth grade year. There are various new challenges and experiences that come with the title of being an eighth grader. I hope to tackle every experience effectively and maturely. As eighth graders we have numerous occasions to prove ourselves as mature young adults. These opportunities can be considered overwhelming occurrences or as onerous obligations. Some might include homework load, new responsibilities, and most exciting, buddies.
Being a student of St. Michael’s, strenuous work and the fluctuation in homework load come effortless to me. This year, various new teachers amalgamated into the faculty, each have their own set of rules. For example, our new science teacher completely redesigned the way we complete our homework and how we organize our binders, figuring this out is as laborious as rocket science. Also, eighth graders are the oldest students in the school. With more arduous material and contrasting classes, our homework is nothing like seventh grade let alone fifth. Another duty I have is setting an example.
Common knowledge is eighth graders are the leaders of the school. Every grade looks up

Our buddies are young and need us to guide them, like teachers to students. Each of us must teach our buddies manners, respect, and common courtesy of the school and social expectations throughout life. We teach them how to be reverent, intelligent, mannered, and remarkable young ladies and gentlemen. We have to model the quintessential student so they can take after us and succeed throughout their careers at St. Michael’s. We also have to assure them it’s okay to make mistakes sometimes; they help you grow! Taking care of our buddies is the most important attribute to making sure my class and theirs has an astounding
It is easy to agree that, in today’s society, it’s the expected norm for high school and college students to be spread thin between school work and an abundant amount of extra curricular activities; all for what? An extra line filled on a résumé? To many, this may seem a bit excessive, but to the students, it seems necessary to keep a competitive edge in order to be successful among their peers. Frank Bruni wrote a compelling article addressing why today’s students are far overworked. In Frank Bruni’s article entitled “Today’s Exhausted Superkids,” he effectively pushes his point, which is students are under a tremendous amount of pressure to succeed and gain a “competitive edge” to the point they are making decisions that can not only damage themselves, but their futures.
Year Round School By: Bryan Madden It has recently come to my attention that people want to know if the school schedule should be year round. Imagine your child having a two week break and forgetting all of the information that learned the week before. Picture your kid getting the same work every six weeks.
Year Round School Many schools have switched to year round schooling. In fact, there are 3,181 schools in the Michigan. With that 10% of those schools are public schools. Also, many schools with year round school have had high test scores and better rates. In year round school kids are showing more success and more understanding.
Schoolies week is a festival held on the Gold Coast in Surfers Paradise for year 12 students who have just finished school. The schoolies organisation host different events such as the beach party, the glow party and the movie night. There is a large amount of controversy about weather schoolies week should still be going or not. There are a lot of issues involved with schoolies such as underage drinking, drug use, unsafe sex, injury and sometimes death. 1,500 teenagers attending Schoolies on the Gold Coast are surveyed each year by Drug Arm Australia.
School Year Round Why would anyone want to go to school a year-round? (Rhetorical Question) School should be a year-round because then students will not forget their learning, be more focused on their education and it will be easier to earn their credits in a shorter period of time. Firstly, A school year-round should be offered each year so students will not forget the learning. Many students that come back from their summer break most likely struggle on what they have learned, for instance, everyone ignores most of the subjects and methods that everyone discovered last year.
This class has taught me to appreciate what each and every one of our forbearers has
All year round schooling. During the summer most students are at home or on trips with family, some are in school working all summer long. It is not because they have summer school, but it is because their school has switched to all year round schooling. The students could be invited over when they are in school; if their friends or family from different schools that does not have all year round schooling. Some students will not have a summer or get to spend anytime with their friends.
The Freshman 15 is a thought that crosses the minds of most future college students, but most say that it won’t happen to them. This fear of losing a toned body after graduating high school bothers some more than others. They realize after high school there are no longer athletics, and they’ll no longer be exercising regularly. Also, when they depart from their parents house and begin to live on their own their eating habits change.
After school, from 3 to 6 p.m, is a critical period of time in a child’s life. After school programs help keep kids safe and inspire them to learn during that period of time. After school programs are organized programs that youth can participate in outside of a traditional school day. Enrolling children in after school programs would provide them with benefits that unenrolled children would not receive, such as reduce risky behavior and promote physical health. After school programs provide a safe environment for children, while positively impacting their academics, safety, and their future.
Everyone goes to school, everyone has homework. Homework has been a topic of interest for a very long time. Many students think that homework is not beneficial. However, without homework people wouldn’t remember what they learned in class. Homework gives kids the chance to prove what they have learned.
As high school went on, the workload grew, but I also grew, so I was perfectly capable of keeping up with the work. This type of growth came rather easy to me. It was important for me to have one thing I could be confident with through all of the drama and chaos in my life. Growing in my community was not challenging thanks to the Live Algoma movement. Our community itself has experienced so much growth over the past four years, which allowed many students, including me, to grow in their community involvement as well.
The point of this article is basically being there for them, teach them how to be independence, have someone to be in their life that we care about them. When the kids have trouble of reading, spelling, studying, we tutorial them and give them practice skills to work on their weakness to work on. We teach them how to control their emotions. When you have a friendly relationship is to always let them know that you care about them and show them develop trust to them, have that special bond with them. It is important to teach students about the classroom rules, schools rules, daily routines, learn to practice new skills in the classroom and out of the classroom, and now their school schedule and outside of school schedule.
I had many fun experiences in 8th grade. Although I am very excited to move on to highschool, I will miss 8th grade as well. I learned many things in 8th grade. I learned a lot about U.S. history and I found physics very interesting. Algebra and Spanish, the two high school classes that I took this year were quite challenging but very rewarding.
A child is struggling to learn at his/ school. He is more of a visual learner, like learning with pictures and shapes in front of him. His school, however, does not have the power and funding to do such things for him, which leaves him struggling and get bad grades. Now, why does he have to struggle in a school system which can’t even support his learning style?
