When owning a horse, there are two main options for hoof care. Horses can go barefoot and have their natural hooves exposed to the elements or can be shod and protect their natural hooves. Horses should be shod because it allows their owners to worry less about their comfort and health and can be very beneficial regarding convenience for riders. In many cases it is easier for the owners and more comfortable for a horse to be shod.
There are quite a few health benefits that can come from shoeing horses. Comfort is a very important factor in a horse’s life. Many people begin training their horses before their hooves can fully develop and strengthen. By shoeing the horses, their feet can continue to grow with minimal wear and tear. If their feet

It also shows how the level of convenience is lessened due to a horse being barefoot. Due to breeding, many horses do not have good conformation, so this also makes this a less feasible option for horse owners.
There are cons of shoeing horses, but it is up to the owner to weigh the good and bad factors. Some people think that the nails used in shoeing can be toxic to the horse, although there is not much research completed on this theory. “According to the staff at EquiMed “Most hoofs become degenerated to some degree from wearing shoes that are nailed on and the soles often become thin, so the horse's feet need some time to heal and adjust and grow a strong protective sole callous.” (Pros and Cons: Are Horse Shoes Necessary for Hoof Health?) I don't find out this paragraph is about convenience until the very end. You need to add something at the beginning here to show that this paragraph follows your thesis
Shortly after a horse is born it should be trained without a saddle on the ground (Conditioning Young Horses” 3). This will teach a young horse to show respect for the trainer and give the horse a positive mindset. Exercising a young horse can be extremely beneficial for the development of their muscles, joints, and tendons (“Conditioning Young Horses 1”). The first three years of a horse’s life are very important for the mental and physical development of the young horse. A young horse will normally be easier to train under saddle once you have developed a relationship with the horse on the ground.
It has been shown that longer toes and lower heels are associated with problems in the hoof capsule and the lower limb(Peel, Peel, Daviest, H.M.S.(2006)). Overall, the angle at which a horse's hoof sits at is extremely important for the health and speed of these
There currently are about 9.2 million horses in North America. They are widespread with many breeds and disciplines that each horse fits into. Horses did not always inhabit North America as they do now. Roughly four hundred years ago the horse made it to America through Spanish soldiers, also known as conquistadores. These conquistadores successfully conquered parts of Mexico and South America before traveling north to the southwestern portion of what is now today’s
Equestrian sports have been entertaining humans for centuries. Many of these sports have turned fun entertainment into a business. The focus has changed from having fun to making as much money as possible. In every equestrian sport, questionable things are done to train and get horses to their “best” potential. Equestrian sports should have stricter regulations and enforcement in order to ensure and maintain the safety of the horse.
Horses are bred for many different things like work, thickness of the body, speed, and color. Quarter horses got their name for being able to sprint fast in a quarter mile. They also are known for their powerful hindquarters. They originated in the United States.
TNSR continues with their explanation by stating, “During an event, a rider will trot our on their chosen horse, these include American Saddlebred, Tennessee Walking horse, Dutch Harness horses, or any horse with an upright head, animated gaits or high action, and trot around the arena. As a rider, you sit back far in the saddle and hold your hands high. This shows off your elegance and your control of the horse.” Now that you have learned a bit about the sport, we can now hear the opinions on if this activity is cruel or
To begin with when Castle made his high tops low tops it was the first time when shoes played a big role in the book. When Castle cut his shoes to go faster but this only hurt him because his classmate Shamika embarrassed him. “Shamika couldn’t get herself together long enough to even speak, so instead she just pointed at my feet” (Reynolds 80). What Shamika did made Castle so frustrated that he skipped school and made him realize it was a waste of money which was already a problem in his family. Another time shoes played a big role was when Castle stole the “Silver Bullets” from the sports store.

What some people do not understand that these horses are loved so much. It doesn’t matter whether it is a barrel horse of rope horse. After they work, we pet them, give them treats, let them relax, and sometimes they get a massage or ice on their legs. Source A, “The Sport - the Life- of Rodeo” says, “Just like in basketball, there is a team. My team consists of my horses, my parents and everyone who helps me keep my horses working, including my vet ad my farrier, who shoes the horses,” (Pallesen).
So, instead of wasting the money the horse has earned the cheapest way is to send them off to wherever they want. Which, is not a nice home, it is a death home. Living as an animal in the racing industry is difficult exhausting. From endless suffering and injuries, being injected and digesting illegal pills, and if you fail you are thrown out of the industry and killed for multiple usages. The life of a racehorse is not sunshine and rainbows.
Many people are against these horses being forced to participate in activities that threaten their well-being. Along with concerns for the horses’ health, gambling is another popular issue people have with horse racing. It is a common practice for those attending
Racehorse Trainer Patience, love and commitment is needed to train these amazing horses, so be prepared and you’ll see and learn that the most and satisfying animals can be skillfully with the help of clever trainers. So let’s get ready to hurtle around, because there is no fooling around in this job. Now let’s make these anxious mare/colt gallop in this early cool sunrise (Clip-Clop, Clip-Clop). I have a friend that I ride horses with who breeds horses for a living, She bred her own horse and it is about a year old now and she plans on training it to jump when it reaches the proper age because that is what she bred it for. It is supposed to be a really really nice horse as well and doctors are very impressed my the way the hose is built. She makes me want to be a horse breeder because she got to basically make her own horse and she gets to have the horse its entire
The horseshoe and horse collar were both implemented during the Middle Ages in Europe for agricultural purposes. The horseshoe is a shoe for a horse made of a narrow band of iron in the form of an extended circular arc and secured to the hoof with nails . It protected the horse’s hooves from becoming soft and breaking due to the soft, damp, and cold ground of northern Europe . Additionally, it aided the horse in getting traction while on the damp and soft ground. The horse collar is part of a horse’s harness that pads a pair of curved metal or wood, called hames, and is around its neck and shoulders, which is connected to whatever it is pulling.
