Although everyone pretty much originated from two people the human race has grown to be very different from one another. However, bullies seem to think that everyone is supposed to be the same. That is the reason bullies bully people, it’s because they think the person is weaker than them and bullies don 't like that they 're different from them. People like Emily who went to Fairfield Intermediate and Middle School in Ohio have been bullied by people so much that they decided to end their lives. Emily was just a teen in Ohio who was happy, enjoyable to be around, and was beautiful. However, her bullies didn’t agree with this and decided to tease her and bully her and make her life miserable. Emily couldn’t handle it so she took her life. Bullies …show more content…
They won 't recognize what they are doing to other people because they are to busy with their own problems to care. Which means we should punish them so they can stop. According to “After years of alleged bullying, an Ohio teen killed herself. Is her school district responsible?” it talks about Emily being bullied about her everything from race to sexuality. It says,” Meanwhile, the lawsuit alleges that Emilie suffered discrimination because of her race and perceived sexual orientation and that school officials were negligent in their handling of her bullying.” This shows that bullies can be to cruel and make lives miserable at school. Like before bullies won 't stop until they are forced to stop. If nobody stands up for Emily or any other bullying victims then bullying will continue to happen. Also, on article, “8 Guidelines for Disciplining Bullies at School Steps to take when disciplining bullies at school” It says, since bullying isn’t being reported the bullying will keep happening. The article states, “The result is that more bullying will take place because fewer incidents are being reported.” This shows because the victims of bullying don 't want snitch in one of their name callings. Since the victims are too afraid to stop bullying and nobody else wants to stand up to bullying then it will continue to happen. Again bullying won 't stop until someone stops
People need to become more responsible and help put a stop to this issue. This is evident when the author writes, “Bullying is widespread in the United States. Bullying negatively impacts all youth involved including those who are bullied, those who bully others, and those who witness bullying, known as bystanders.” This example explains how bullying is a serious issue across the United States. Bullying has a negative impact on everyone, including the ones committing the bullying.
Some text to defend my claim is “Dealing with feelings of school safety, and specifically addressing school bullying.” The text also says that 90% of students in grades 4-8 report being harassed or bullied.” This shows that you need to report bullying when you see it and stick up for people and yourself. Also, this shows that most of the kids in school get bullied in grades 4-8. That's why kids need to be courageous and take when they see it to tell a trusted adult.
Bullying is a growing issue in our society affecting many people. People do not realize the damage they are doing to people and their families. Not only do the bullies hurt the people verbally, but they can get hurt mentally which could lead the victim to harm themselves or commit suicide. Even though we are not all white or all African American that does not mean we all should not be treated the same. Chris Crutcher wrote Whale Talk to show how bullying can dramatically hurt people by expressing acts of violence, using profanity and racial slurs.
The author directs bullying as aggressive behavior can take place on internet, at school, social places, even home (Jarolmen, 2014). The author cites Yerger &Gehret, 2011 as they elaborate on the causes of bullying. School social workers must implement peer groups, promote student awareness, and empower victims of bullying. As a professional school social worker, you will need to "Bully Proof Your School"; programs such as PATHS, Safe School Ambassador (SSA) will allow you to do such (Yerger & Gehret, 2011 as cited in Jarolmen, 2014). These above-mentioned programs will encourage student leadership, intervention and advocacy amongst
This is evident when the author writes “...bullying is damaging and can be emotionally and psychologically devastating…” and “Step 1 - Be Aware and pay attention… Step 2 - Recognize it is a problem and don't ignore it…” The first piece of evidence explains that you can be emotionally and psychologically damaged from bullying and your self-confidence affects how you are emotionally so when bullied you won’t be able to do your personal best. The second piece of evidence is one of the many steps that explains how to deal with bullying and prevent it which can teach students at Baker how to prevent and deal with bullying allowing them to be more self-confident and do their personal best. “Bullying Epidemic: Facts, Statistics, Prevention” can really help Baker students be their personal best by informing students on how to prevent bullying and hopefully be less of it, which then boosts their confidence in both themself and
On the sidewalks of Rochester in the year 1942, Walter Chaplinsky was arrested for repeating ' You are a God damned racketeer' and 'a damned Fascist’ to a police officer. Chaplinsky’s statements violated a New Hampshire law prohibiting offensive, derisive, or annoying words or sounds said unto an individual or party in a public place. He appealed the decision of the District Court, and when it came to the Supreme Court, they came to a profound decision. Supreme Court Justice Murphy said there are certain words that could reasonably result in a fight or a breach of peace when uttered.
There are many crimes that are committed in today's society, but one big crime that is committed every single day are hate crimes. Hate crimes are consisted of any criminal offense against a person, property, or society that is motivated by the offenders bias against race, religion, sexual orientation, or ethnicity/national origin (Schmalleger, 2014). I've chosen to pick religion and race to write about and how much it can change someone else's life. Religion has always been a controversial topic, because of all the different religions and some people not being religious. The Uniform Crime Reporting Program stated that in 2012, there were 1,340 victims of an anti-religious hate crime.
Bullies are usually stronger and victims are usually perceived as weaker and unable to protect themselves.” (Masterson,1997) Bullying expands in many aspects of everyday life; from schoolchildren and teenagers, to adults , working environments and even spouses and family members. Considering that the first signs of bullying appear among schoolchildren, we should examine it in its infancy, that is, bullying in early years and school life, which in turn becomes with the passage of years violence and in some cases even crime. As far as bullying at school is concerned, “one definition is that a student is being bullied or victimized, when he or she is exposed, repeatedly and over time , to negative actions on the part of one or more other students.”
Bullying is an undesirable, aggressive behavior among school aged children that involves actual disparity of power. According to Megan Brooks bullying is a serious public health problems, with significant short-and long-term psychological consequences for the child who is bullied and the child who is the bully. This only tells us that bullying can lead to difficulty that a certain children may experience and will have either short or long term problem. “Bullying has long been tolerated as a rite of passage among children and adolescents, but it has lasting, negative consequences and cannot simply be ignored.” Committee chair Frederick Rivera, MD.
I say that it’s human nature, and you can’t fix that. As such, the current attempt at stopping bullying is not, and will not, work. What we need to do, is cut down our efforts. We have a lot of efforts, but that doesn’t mean that they’re good.
Zienab Assaad One topic I strongly believe in is that children should not get abused , for any reason. It can ruin lives and it can be seen in persons of all ages. People ,as a whole is also affected by child abuse both in bad and good ways. In this essay I will say some of the results of this violent act on people as well as our culture.
Bullying in Schools What seems fun and harmless for some students, is painful and degrading to others. Bullying has been a critical issue around schools, but before it was not as dangerous and know as it is now. These do not means bullying was not happening, it means it was not taken into consideration by parents or teachers. They thought it was just peer pressure or a kids game, and sooner or later the kids would be friends again. At one point, bullies think it’s normal to be mean and abusive to other students.
Cyber Bullying has become an increasing problem in our society that threatens physical and emotional harm to ever greater numbers of young people. The sad fact is, some youths are so deeply affected by the negative influence of bullying that they have taken their own lives. Although suicides represent a rare and extreme reaction to bullying, it is a real issue that our children are facing today. Cyberbullying is often a factor in young people becoming depressed and having low self-esteem. Cyberbullying has been an issue, in the United States as well as everywhere throughout the world.
For example if bulling continues at school and school doesn’t take action on this attitude, the entire school can be affected. Student may get anxious and tend to not like school. As the adults don’t take action and try to prevent bulling, children may feel that teachers and other school staff have little control over the students and don’t care what happens to them. Moreover Students who witness bullying can also be affected. They may feel guilty for not helping or scared that they will be the next target (gomasa, n.d.).
Not many victims does this for fear of retaliation; nonetheless some victims are brave enough to fight back. The effects of bullying will affect the victim’s future as they grow up to become adults. If this issue continues, he/she has a right to report the incident or fight back their bullies. All forms of bullying, including cyber-bullying, are considered intolerable and criminal at school. Bullying occurs when the bully fights or insults the victims to the point of fighting back or seeking help from someone trustworthy to prevent their issue of being bullied.
