Have you ever been in a situation in which the possession of a firearm would have made you feel more comfortable? Are you the type of person that abhors firearms or are you the type person who no matter what the government says is willing to argue and protect your second amendment and maintain your right to bear arms. The Second Amendment to the United States says that "A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." To infringe means "to encroach upon in a way that violates law or the rights of another," which is exactly what gun control does. Im assuming that no one in here will ever go out and commit a violent crime involving a firearm. However i cant guarantee that some people we are around everyday will not be involved in a violent crime. I'd like to tell you today why gun control should not be put into large scale effect . I'd like to bring up the number of violent crimes involving firearms in the united states in the year of 2013 before the bulk of the gun control movement had started (refer to chart). IN the year 2013 there were 16,121 homicides nation wide and out of that number 11,208 of them were caused by a firearm of those deaths approximately 750 of the murders were committed with an illegally owned firearm which shows that you do not have to be a felon that is unable to possess a firearm in order to take someones life with one. as people all around the world have said its not the gun that kills people its the person behind the. when it comes to gun control the only people who need to be controlled
Gun control has been a controversial issue for many years. Many citizens believe that if gun control is strictly enforced it would reduce the threat of crime. People have the right to bear arms for protection, or even just the pleasure of hunting and recreational activity. With the recent events involving firearms and mass shootings, people are skeptical whether to increase or decrease gun laws. Americans have a constitutional right to own handguns and stricter laws and licensing will not effectively save lives.
On average 96 Americans are killed with guns every day and more than 100,000 people in America are shot in murders. We must need Gun Control. The one who is a con for Gun Control says “If gun control laws were made much more strict, these criminals would still be able to obtain illegal weapons. The only difference would be that the people who are not criminals would not have the ability to defend themselves” but if we eliminate the gun control, the murder case will increase greatly.
Gun debate What is your outlook on the gun eschew about getting gun control or not have gun control? I learned from the New York Times Upfront article is that there’s a lot of people getting gun and using them for killing people. I think that the gun is not the faut. “Since 1994, licensed gun dealers have been required to conduct background checks on potential burger” (pg6).
Imagine enjoying a nice party at your local cabana, only for you to hear a loud bang, and look over to see your friend lying on the ground, dead. This problem you are facing is known as gun control, and is a issue that has faced the U.S for many years. gun control is the debate on whether or not laws around guns should be tightened or not. Today, I will prove to you what gun control is, who is affected by it, and what we can do to solve it. Gun control is a problem that tends to occur very often in the past few years, and is affecting the U.S very badly.
What is often overlooked is that guns can and frequently do serve as an encouragement to conduct a violent crime. No matter how agitated, hot-tempered, insane, or drunk a person is: gun violence does not occur as long as they do not have a gun within reach. Having said that, stricter gun rules will prevent someone from misusing a gun and perhaps injuring someone. Furthermore, even if the perpetrator of a violent crime bears the burden of accountability, the inciting function of a firearm should not be
Out of 62 mass shootings in the U.S between 1982 and 2012, 49 of the shooters used legally obtained guns. 143 guns were possessed by the killers with about 75% obtained legally. Essentially, gun control laws ineffective. In addition, In a 1998 publication by John Lott PhD, he outlined the many benefits that concealed carry offers, including reducing crime significantly. According to Lott, there was an 8.5% reduction in homicides, 7% in aggravated assaults, 5% in rape, and 3% in robbery following the passing of gun rights or laws.
Gun Control Gun control over the years has been a controversial subject, with people arguing for both sides. The 2nd amendment states that everyone in the U.S. has a right to bear arms. Mass shootings and suicides by firearm have been a growing concern for many people living in the U.S. Numerous people making the argument that there should be more gun control. Having gun control would help lessen the deaths by firearms in the country for a variety of reasons.
Some people like to believe that you can stop deaths involving guns, by making gun control laws stricter. Stricter gun control laws will not reduce crime any better than the current gun control laws. Undoubtedly, stricter gun control laws will not reduce crime because criminals will get their hands on guns either way. Criminals will use many ways to obtain illegal firearms. According to a study from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, they found many cases where two people will go to a gun store, one will pick out a gun, and the other will use his identification to buy the gun (Dan Noyes online).
Shots Fired… For the good? Guns are responsible for over 33,000 deaths, annually. Due to this, many people have their own opinion on the topic of gun control.
Strict regulations and limitations have been pursued already and clearly do not suffice. Statics brought to attention by gun control opponents, show that gun control laws have done little to reduce crime rates. Several restrictions have been made on certain guns, considered as overly dangerous, though in the hands of an unstable criminal even a legal hunting gun can be deadly. Countless restrictions have been made, however people have still found ways around them. If people are unstable and determined enough, they will find a gun, regardless of the restrictions or regulations.
This makes us wonder why people can be so defensive over something like a gun that is so dangerous and has lead to a lot of deaths in the American society. Gun control is essential in our society today because it will help prevent unnecessary shootings and crime rate Gun control will play a major part in the decrease of the crime and murder rate. Therefore, in my point of view, guns should be totally controlled and regulated by the government. If gun ownership is controlled by the government, only a limited number of people will be allowed to own guns. In addition, the regulations will make it difficult for people to access guns unless they have a concrete reason as to why they need the weapon.
This is wrong how our government allows gun laws to slide by just because the constitution gives us the right to bear arms. Has anyone ever considered revising this outdated list of rights given to the citizens of the United States? Gun control laws would reduce the societal costs associated with gun violence. Shootings in the United States have turned into an expensive illicit relationship. From the cost of medical care, investigations, and in many cases death.
Gun Control advocates wrongly assign the blame for violent crime on the tools used to perpetrate it. Remember our example of Great Britain? After enacting a ban on modern handguns, the country did see a decline in gun-related homicide. However, the intentional homicide rate itself climbed steadily for five years, and today it is still higher than before the gun control laws were in place. Evil exists, and people will keep killing people, whether or not they have access to guns.
People often wonder why guns are legal for citizens to own. Guns are put to blame for much of the crime that happens in the world but it is the people that do the crime not the guns. Gun control laws have been debated about and tried to be put in place for many years in the United States. There are laws restricting some types of weapons and where weapons can be used but some people want more laws controlling all guns and some wanting to ban all guns. Many people promoting gun laws are not educated on some of the statistics and ways that guns save and protect innocent people.
Do you know how many people are in danger because of a gun. Many lives have been taken just because of a single bullet, despite this little to no action has taken place about these weapons, it’s a little frightening isn’t it. Shootings and deaths by guns are becoming all too common and many people have argued whether or not our government need to do something about this. If gun laws and gun control were implemented then it would lower violence, make it harder for criminals to get these items, and save lives. Though gun control may not protect every life, it would save many.
