I have been interested in the field of psychology for some years now. My interest derived from myself and my own personality. Developing during adolescence has left me with many questions. Middle school marked a transitional period in my life where I become self aware. Before this time I'd only connected differences in appearance as what made people unique. I had always known that no two people were alike, but I had never really payed attention to people's distinctive characteristics. With my recent discovery in self awareness I began to pay close attention to myself and other students. We we're changing and all developing in different ways. Everyone behaved in a way or had a personality that was uniquely his or her own. I began to wonder about my own tendencies and personality traits. I wanted to understand how these behaviors and traits developed. I was interested in understanding myself on a deeper level than someone telling me I have my mothers sense of humor. Not only did I find this topic to be interesting, but I also felt that my comprehension of it was an essential part of my growth. It was important to me that I understood my own development. It starts off slow but I eventually started to come across a variety of webpages with different personality test, horoscopes, and psychology facts. None of which could tell me anything more about myself other than a general statement that applied to anyone with a birthday in September. This of course did not suppress my curiosity nor did it detour me from my goals. I continued on my search of understanding myself. So, I began to search for specific things that I did, only to find more general answers. Though I had found nothing of any significance to what I'd been looking for I remained persistent. My unanswered searches only fueled my curiosity even more. They motivated me to continue to look
