National Junior Honors Society Essay By: Megan Pacchioli I am very excited by the opportunity to represent my school as a member of the National Junior Honors Society. Both in and out of school I support the Five Pillars of the NJHS, which are scholarship, service, citizenship, character, and leadership. I represent these five pillars by my grades and academic achievements in school, my dedication to my church, my dojo, and my soccer team. As well as taking part in my communities activities, being a responsible person, and manifesting my leadership on the court/field out of school. The first pillar is scholarship. I support this pillar with my grades and academic achievements. More specifically, I have kept all of my grades above Ninety percent …show more content…
I represented this pillar by setting up chairs for the parishioners prior to Christmas mass at my church, and setting up luminaries for my parish's live nativity. My favorite service, however, would have to be the Perlini Soccer Tournament. My family, teammates, and I all help with set up to clean up, and everything in between. My friends and I also helped out with field marshaling, and helped deliver water to our hardworking volunteers. I am out, and ready to assist before the sun comes up, and we are getting ready to go as the sun is going down. It is a ton of fun and it is a big help to my …show more content…
I represent this pillar because I show leadership in and out of school. Whether it’s on the court/field, or in class. I play soccer, basketball, and field hockey and show leadership toward my teammates and coaches. In soccer, I am a goalkeeper for my team. Being a goalkeeper requires being a leader, and being very vocal to your teammates to guide them in the right direction. Whenever we do group activities in class, I always like to take the lead. I have recently been selected to be a team captain for field day, and I am very excited to step up and hopefully guide my team to
Hello, my name is Katelynn Lauria, I am a proud 8th grade Skipjack, and the president of the National Junior Honors Society. I would like to congratulate all who have been picked and chosen to join the NJHS, and join us on our adventure. As part of the National Junior Honors Society you are becoming a leader of the school and setting a good example for others, so you need to represent the scholarship and citizenship role of being in NJHS. An example of this is making sure you are following Booker T. Washington’s 5 Rs and setting up a good example of how to act. Following the 5 Rs includes following them not only at school, but at all times in your life like at home.
In our community, I always strive to help others and the environment, and the people all around. I have assisted in the community cleanup at my local library and also the garbage cleanup at the beach. These actions that I have made helped shape my amazing experience at Wisdom Lane Middle School and they will help me shape my future for the better. These actions helped me build great relationships with the teachers in my school and even the principal. These pillars have helped me succeed in my three years of middle school and help me prepare for the rest of my years no matter what school I go to.
The final way that I feel the pillar of service can be applied to my life would be my willingness to help fellow students with programming dilemmas they may have come across while creating a program. At the studio I attended during my freshman year, I was one of the highest programmers at the time, so I was usually one of the first to test the curriculum as a student. Whenever I had the chance or opportunity, I would always try and help younger students who were struggling at the time. Helping these students learn to do something that I had learned to love and enjoy makes me feel fulfilled and lucky to have been able to serve them as I did on several

Speech for NJHS Induction Ceremony Good evening students, faculty, and family members! Thank you, Mrs. Reece and Principal King, for inviting me to this year’s National Junior Honor Society induction ceremony. Students, tonight we honor your achievements in the areas of Scholarship, Citizenship, Responsibility, Community Service, Character, and Leadership as we recognize and celebrate the choices, and at times the sacrifices, you have made. Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "The reward of a thing well done is to have done it."
I am extremely honored to be eligible for this opportunity to apply for the National Honor Society. Becoming a member of the National Honor Society has been a goal I set for myself since I was a student in middle school. I have been greatly looking forward to this moment for a very long time. Overall, I have worked incredibly hard these last two years to display a positive character and obtain qualities such as leadership, responsibility, and scholarship. I strongly believe I will be a productive and reliable member of the National Honor Society at Harvard H. Ellis Technical High School.
Acquiring leadership skills along with a strong character and the sense to serve others is vital. A leader should be resourceful, dependable, selfless, and a good problem solver. I have led in many ways- inside and outside of school. Last year as a tenth grader, I was class secretary for Class Council.
Each one of these pillars has made a difference in not only my school life but my extracurricular and community life as well. To begin, scholarship is something that I have always valued in my life. In elementary school, I loved learning and researching topics in both the classroom and in my personal. However, as I grew older I began to put my grades above everything else. Oftentimes, I would just do the assignments because I was told to, not truly grasping the importance of what I was learning.
After all the years I have worked hard it has paid off which is why I am where I am today with a 4.236 weighted GPA and a 3.727 unweighted GPA. Another quality I have that will help me contribute to your community
The first pillar, scholarship has shaped my development by dedicating my time to my academic success. I study for several hours every day and I turn in my homework in on time. I complete all of my homework even if it is optional because it is a perfect way to review for a test. When it comes to my academic success, I always do my best on my assignments regardless of the grade that I will receive. The service pillar has shaped
As a member of many organizations, a student, and an employee, many people count on me. I am commitment because to me there is no other option. I may procrastinate sometimes, however you can always count on me to get the job done. I rarely to never miss any meetings for extra curricular activities. It is very unusual for me to miss an assignment, or even turn it in late.
Personal Profile for Katerina Koroluk School Involvement SAMS Student Council The student council at Sir Alexander Mackenzie School is a forum for the student body to express ideas and help better our school and community. During my time on the student council as treasurer, I helped run meetings and school events, such as dances. As a part of the student council I learned more about what students need and want in their learning environment, as well as gained better insight on my fellow student council members. The different visions for the school from each student helped broaden my perspective of learning and the school environment.
I am pleased to submit my application to the University Honors Program. I am someone who thrives educationally in a smaller, close-knit community and I believe that the UHP can offer that to me. I am excited to become a part of a smaller population of learners within the larger university with seminar-sized classes that would allow for more interactive discussions and in-depth learning. I would also like the challenging yet fascinating curriculum that would be offered in this program, as it would better prepare me for my career as well as graduate school. I believe that the University Honors Program would be a wonderful opportunity for me both educationally as well as intellectually.
From contesting for this position to getting elected and working for betterment of my house group, I gained a lot of experience and self-confidence and became more responsible. Being a vice captain, I played an important role in addressing and motivating students, advising and helping them, and earning points for my group by participating in many competitions alone or in a team. I also served as the student voice of the school to a variety of external and internal constituents. The student council served as a bridge between the students and the school heads and administration.
To the community and my high school, I’m seen as a great role model and the ideal student. In Pre-K, at Pines Elementary School in Plymouth, NC, I excelled and exceeded my work and was able to move up a grade (Kindergarten). At that very moment, I knew I was a very intelligent and unique girl, I was smarter than average, and I had a gift. Since that moment, I graduated from Washington County Union Middle School (Roper, NC) as salutatorian of my class and I’m currently salutatorian of my class at Plymouth High School (Plymouth, NC). I am involved in many clubs and organizations at my school in which I run top positions as vice president or captain.
