There are multiple scenarios in which a society can collapse, communities will fall, and new ones will be formed. A bombing inside of a city is one such scenario that can cause a disruption within society. The book Tribe by Sebastian Junger explains multiple situations about how communities can change and how that change will impact the people within the community. Junger also examines the lives of people even after they are out of the conflicts that they were in before, such as victims of PTSD. Tribe does not focus on only one community because every person is part of a multitude of communities based off his/her beliefs.

In chapter 4 of Ancestral Lines by John Barker, Barker discusses the two main guides of reasoning used by the Maisin of Papua New Guinea; Christianity and older traditional views. He describes how although both are different methods of thinking, both are used in harmony to describe the everyday occurrences encountered by the Maisin people (Barker 2008:134). Christianity, as described in the ethnography, is used wholly to motivate the Maisin intrinsically through the abolishment of fear, and to instill morals and values (Barker 2008:133-134). In times of need, Christianity was often relied on to seek solace and comfort (Barker 2008:124). For instance, the Maisin often used sacred objects (charms) that were said to protect them from sorcery;

Good and bad, two small words that have so much meaning. What makes people react the way they do? Are people born to be good or bad, or do they have any control over what they will become? Can personal experience impact a person’s values by changing their views on life? The truth is that all people are born with both, good and bad tendencies.
Every life knows tragedy. While some tragedies may be greater than others, it is tragedy all the same. After seeing people tortured, gassed, and burned, Wiesel states, “my eyes had opened and I was alone, terribly alone in the world without God, without man.
Throughout chapter three of The Myth of the Negro Past, Melville Herkovits writes about the African culture back before slaves were brought to the Americas. Introduction According to Karl Appuhn in the Encyclopedia of European Social History, Microhistory is a historical method that studies the interactions of individuals and events in isolation in order to construct meaning that would “otherwise remain unknown by means of more conventional historical strategies”. Microhistory is seen as a technique that attempts to reconstruct relations, both human and non-human, in order to make sense of larger geo-political themes within the historical narrative.
