I didn’t even know what cross country is before I came to this school. And by the end of the season, I was one of the best runners in the team. This transition didn 't come from nowhere. I was literally the slowest person in the whole team(including girls) when the season began. And I remembered what one of the girls in the team told me: Kenny, just go join another activity, there is not chance for you to make the APAC team. But I guess the most important thing about Cross Country is never give up. And that 's exactly what I did. Have faith in yourself, and keep it going. I didn 't miss any of the practises, I always try my best during the
When the AAA Saline baseball team found out we were going to Cooperstown we were so excited. But it cost $2,000 a person so we had to do a whole bunch of fundraiser. . We had a whole bunch on our plate because we had to do fundraisers and we had to practice a lot to be ready. The ride up there was really boring because it was 10 hours
I would start off by stating that this is my second attempt at trying to get into the Riordan Scholars Program. Last year I tried, but unfortunately you guys didn 't get the transcript. From the response that I got when I was told that I wasn 't invited,it seemed as if you guys were trying sort of inviting me back to the program. Like I stated before this is my second attempt at trying to get in. As much as I hate to face it,I live in an inner city.
Cross country has helped me with my transition from childhood and adulthood by teaching me that success is earned through hard work, determination, and leading by example. That's what I did after my first bad race, I worked hard and continued on my quest and showed my coaches and my teammates that I could lead the
As I am quickly approaching the end of my senior, I am looking back at how far I have come since freshman year and everything that Henley High School has helped me accomplish in my life. In preparation for the life that every senior must experience after school, the senior capstone project was put in place to help seniors find out what they would suit them as career and give them some of the necessary tools in achieving that. Part of the capstone was earning service hours at a non profit organization, that can go on a resume. With serving came a facilitator, who guides one’s service, and also the challenges and success of the service itself. To Provide help on future careers, Henley High School also provided an opportunity to take the CIS test
When I started high school, the club that excited me the most, was National Honors Society. So, at the first chance I got, in my sophomore year. After being a member for a year, I quickly realized that I wanted to take on a leadership opportunity in the club. So, I took a shot for the stars, and campaigned for being president of Honors Society. Though I had some competition, I put my all into composing a speech, and I won the presidency, and I have been president since.
“THUMP! THUMP! THUMP!” I could hear my heart racing at what felt like 1,000 beats every minute that had passed. My stomach felt like it was tied up in knots as I was dripping with sweat from my head to my toes.
“Crack”, “click” was what I heard before the most excruciating pain I have ever felt filled my right knee. It was on October 7th, it was just weeks before my junior season was going to start. I was at Massillon Washington high school at wrestling practice like I was almost every day. I was drilling with the assistant coach Percy McGee hitting single legs which was my favorite move. About 40 seconds into the drill I hit another single and all of a sudden my knee locked at about 90 degrees.
For my Diverse Field Experience this semester, I spent fifteen hours at the Mclean County Juvenile Detention Center. This particular center was occupied by about 8-14 juveniles at a time, all depending on court dates and occupancy of other nearby detention centers. This center usually had 3 staff members working the shift every time I went, which was seven to nine on weekday afternoons. I was intrigued to go to at this time because I thought it would be the time of the day were the juveniles had no school work or other obligations to do while I was there. I wanted to see what they liked to do in the free time before bed, the only stipulation being mandatory snack time at eight pm.
Yet, there is still one issue that I’ve always wondered about. One could say that my experience in cross country has been far from normal. One year, I was running a thirty-minute 5k, and ranked eighty-sixth on the team. The
If you believe you can do it, you can. Cross country has so many perks. I know from my own personal experiences in the sport. Because of this sport I learned the benefits of hard work as well as teamwork. The skills you acquire from being in cross country are essential to know, and help you to succeed in today 's society.
I have not been able to participate in athletics nearly as much as I would have liked. I started running track in the spring of my seventh grade year. I performed surprisingly well and decided to participate in cross country the next fall. I spent the summer training and preparing for the season, and it definitely showed. I ran in the varsity race for my first cross country meet ever.
It was the last inning in our all-star game, and we were losing 10 to 8. Our team had 2 outs and we couldn’t get the third. Our pitcher was doing bad, throwing all balls, while all of us in the field were tired, ready to fall asleep at any moment. There goes another walk. They score again.
Surreptitiously and quietly, the posted sentries at the main entrance leading to the Dweller city of New Hope maintained their duties guarding it, keeping watch over any potential threats that may arise from beyond the entrance at any time. From the balcony that stood directly above the steel gates of the main entrance, the Dweller city guard had managed to place a small barrier of sandbags with an additional sentry gun turret, consisting of twin mounted MG42 machine guns. Even further behind the sandbags and sentry turret emplacement was a table, with two G43 semi-automatic rifles leaning on the table. Seated around the table, there were three Dwellers: two Dwellers who were part of New Hope’s city guard, and the Silent Orphan, the leader
I arrived at Aspire at 2 pm and met with Trinity, Moria, and Clare in the intern office. Then to start with I read over the confidentiality agreement and was explained the importance of it by Trinity. After signing the agreement, Trinity took Rebekah and me on a tour of the Aspire clinics facilities. Trinity gave us an idea of what all goes on at the Aspire clinic behind the scenes. After seeing everything on the tour, we went back to the intern office where Trinity explain to us opening and closing procedures, Dropbox & intro to important documents, the call log, calendar, website, checking clients in and out, and how to write receipts/ handle payments.
The car screeched to a halt. Like the rain, the traffic was getting heavy. The road was congested with cars, taxis, and buses. The dense Philippine smog filled the car interior with the smell of exhaust fumes. People dashed across the streets, weaving around the vehicles.
