The summer of 2014 was probably one of the toughest time for me and my family. My older sister, Tatiana, had just graduated high school. She had decided to attend Salisbury University, and wanted to join the Army Reserves. These plans were the complete opposites of what my mother wanted her to do. My mother wanted her to go to Montgomery College, not go into the Army, and keep her in her nest. She was probably petrified of the idea that one of children would not be living with her. Growing up we had never been separated from my mother for more than a couple of days, we never even went to a summer camp, so the aspect that she would be gone for months did not please her at all. My sister and my mother argued for weeks, and I was always there awkwardly witnessing them bicker. No matter how much my mother told her she should not go to …show more content…
"Well, I got you going nineteen miles over the speed limit. Now I 'm going to have to write you a ticket. And if you don 't mind me asking why were you speeding?" he asked. "I 'm very late to my freshman orientation at Salisbury University," she said. "Salisbury University... That 's forty minutes up the road," he said. As if we did not already know. He then gave my sister her ticket, and he was very polite about it, but to this day, my sister hates State Troopers. Which is funny because she wants to be a police officer. She then called ahead saying that she was running late, and cautiously drove all the way to the school. We then got there and inserted ourselves into the group of freshmen and their parents. Then after an hour of boring talks the actual students were going to leave and do other things while the parents were going to another room. I had no choice but to go with the parents. I then listened to many speakers talk about how Salisbury University is a safe school and how they know it is hard to see their children go, which was something my mother needed to hear not me. The talks finished and my sister and I were
Alabama Trip My mom and and dad told me in December that we were going to Gulf Shores, Alabama to visit my grandparents. Gulf Shores is the southernmost town in Alabama, located on the north coast of the Gulf of Mexico. I have been there twice when I was little. I remember that I collected seashells and went swimming with Boppa in the pool.
One Sunday night in October 2015 my dad went to a Packer game with a friend from work. On his way to the game my dad and his friend stopped at a party bus. His friend knew the guys that had the party bus so they stayed for a couple of drinks. My dad has always told me never to set your drink down because someone could put something in it. Well he should have taken his own advice because, he set his drink down for a bit then, when he went to pick his cup back up he ended up picking up a different cup that possibly had drugs in it.
Allow me to introduce myself, I am Bryan Le, a freshman that is currently attending a charter school by the name of “Downtown College Prep”. I am currently living with my parents and two younger siblings, one brother and one sister. Over my years in a public elementary school, I had seen others being happy because of one’s help and that made me feel happy inside. I then thought of ways to help others when I stumbled upon the fact that doctors help people everyday, which seemed as a great way to help many people so that they may continue to be happy in life. As I entered Downtown College Prep, I was urged by the staff to explore my options and to set a goal in life.
Upon arriving to Miami Dade College, you will never imagine all the resources offered to students to succeed during their scholastic years. I’ve been lucky enough to been advised by some of the best staff at their Interamerican campus. From their advisement office to their profoundly knowledgeable professors. As a current student of ENC1102, we were required to attend one section with a tutor at the writing center. I always thought I had sufficient knowledge of the English language and taking time out of my busy schedule to attend a section with a tutor was absurd.
Dad was making his patented breakfast and in a pretty good mood. He had used a large butcher knife to slice mounds of potatoes into little squares, then fried them in boiling lard in a cast iron skillet. Two additional cast iron fry pans were filled with scrambled eggs and a fourth pan filled the kitchen with the heavenly aroma of bacon frying. There were several baking sheets of his invention, cinnamon rolls made from Bisquick dough with sugar added, rolled thin, spread with a thick coating of butter, pounds of homemade strawberry jam, raisins, more sugar and lots of cinnamon. He rolled up the whole thing and cut slices an inch thick, then placed them on a cookie sheet to bake.
Over the summer I traveled to Tennessee to see my cousins. The day we arrived, we visited Lake Winnie, an amusement park with tons of rides with a water park. It was a joyful day. That day I went on the first roller coaster I 've ever been on. While walking nervously up the steps to get into line with my cousin, I felt the adrenaline rushing through my body, and I felt very anxious.
When I was was younger, I was a caterpillar crawling around trying to get through life, waiting to turn into the beautiful butterfly I know I could soon become. I made good decisions along with bad ones, saw the beauty in life as well as the unpleasant. I was like everyone else trying to be their own person, but now as I look at myself in the mirror I can finally see who I really am. I see myself as the beautiful butterfly I once dreamed of becoming, ready to fly down my own path. I have been in my chrysalis and I am finally out and ready to fly into my bright future.
I woke up in a dark room with a massive headache that beat like a drum. I slowly got up and tried to remember what happened. I remember a huge storm that ravaged the west coast, then a space-ship came down and started to abduct people. “Oh no, I have been abducted!” I screamed to myself.
At 5:45 AM the alarm on my phone blared some generic default tone that I had never gotten around to changing. This was probably the earliest I’ve ever gotten up in my entire life. I groggily removed myself from the pile of blankets on the floor that I had been sleeping in and headed for the shower, brushed my teeth, washed my face and searched my near empty closet for something to wear on my first day of school. Although I was absolutely exhausted and there was yet to be any furniture in my room, I was thrilled to be transferring to Pattonville High School in midst of my junior year and living in a bigger house in a better community.
Upon my return, I expected to resume going to the school’s campus and only be half online. This wasn’t what happened, however. “We live too far away now. I can’t drive you so far every day.” My mom had said when I asked her about my returning to school.
Two weeks ago Ellie turned eighteen years old and finished her first year of college. She enjoyed everything about college from the sorority life to the classes, and everything that goes along with college. Unfortunately, Ellie’s college life came to a haltering end when she received a letter notifying her she had been drafted for the
The boys were very exhausted from the long car ride to Chicago. “Mom, we’re going to be late!” Mrs.Doyle was frantically driving to their game, trying to not make the boys late. She was nearly speeding 15 mph ahead of the normal speed limit. A deer leaped onto the highway and almost hit Mrs.Doyle’s car, but luckily she swerved just in time.
“Yo I’m so excited about the trip today!” I know right” replied my friend Ethan as we walked to class. If you didn’t know most of our class is going on a field trip to South America to check out the ecosystem. We walk into the classroom and instantly we start talking about the trip with a group of our friends. “Alright everyone to your seats” implored our teacher.
Her main reason for this was because it was for school and could help Savannah do better. She also stated that I made her go places she did not want for the sake of school. My mother also added that me being out of place is what Savannah go through every time we go to something of mine. Lastly, she said that Savannah was my sister and that I needed to be there for her more. Family is family and you are always there for them.
I rode bus 24 and turns out my friends rode that bus and so the boy that i liked at the time. However, my home bus driver wasn 't the nicest person either. His name was Carl and drove bus number 31. He was really old, had a head full of grey hair, and always loved getting people in trouble. I had never gotten trouble with him though all year
