With everyone having sociological imagination in everyone’s heads, they look at me as the fat kid who would just fail in school with bad friends who do drugs, marijuana, and drink alcohol. The 1 percent of the people would pretty much see my family as a poor family living with 7 children and survives on food stamps. Well, they’re pretty much wrong. My family is very hard-working and every night my father and mother have to go to clean restaurants, which means that I don’t even get to see my parents until school ends. People who hired my parents also pretty much think that my family is very poor and desperately needs money. You see, my parents are illegal immigrants who had very difficult starts when they finally entered the United States for better jobs. Before they migrated to the United States, …show more content…
My father got a job to clean a restaurant every night of his life and he still cleans that restaurant to this day. Ever since that has happen he has gotten another job, now working with 2 restaurants every night. Then all of a sudden, a third job, so that means, three jobs in every night of his life until he retires. With all of these jobs, this affects me since I don’t always get to see my father. At the same time he does this to feed his family, which consists of my brother, my mother, and me, a family of four. While doing his job, he also does this to give me and my brother an education to try to not let us be stuck with low pay wage job or become homeless. My father wants me to be able to go to a university and become that 1 percent and to have a good job, car, and home, but all of that can only be achieved through hard work. All of this inspires me to keep working on my education and to keep all of my grades up and high. Then, there’s the outside world problems. One would be the Donald Trump problem and the ICE immigration deportation event that’s going on right
He tried to find any job he could. His dad did worked such as selling iron chords door to door, gardening, painting, guarded the fence at the fairgrounds, cut boys’ hair, and worked at the WPA. They were still able to keep up payments for certain things. In the poem Debts, by Karen Hesse, the author’s dad is also optimistic. He tries to grow crops but his wife doesn’t believe it would rain enough to grow the crops.
When I was growing up my father was always gone, but he would always come back with gifts. I believe that my parents being in the military has a huge impact on who I am as a person. I was blessed enough to be able to live in different areas and meet a lot of different people and deal with different personalities. My experience is linked to my social location and identity because I am privileged enough to have a scholarship for school because of the service my parents provided. If I didn’t have this scholarship, I’m not sure if I would be so dedicated to going to school.
Father’s have a great amount of influence on their kids, especially on their sons, because they look up to them as role models. Having someone to teach them all about manhood, resourcefulness etc. Although some father’s are absent in a kids life and some are not always there, and some may struggle to provide for their kids, and giving them what they need., Fathers all want the best for their kids, even if that means that they we’re never there physically in their life or are not always there. And as children get older they may develop some hatred towards their father for not being there, Having an understanding and a reason to why they had did what they did, and those kids will eventually realize that after their father that
He leaves his peers, knowing that his eyes will nevermore meet theirs in the sanctity of a classroom. This young boy, only 17 years of age, was fated to live out his life behind a cash register the day that his father was laid off. Instead of feeling the warm embrace of a desk, he only feels the pain in his back after an 11 hour shift. Instead of hearing the hushed chitter chatter of his classmates, all he can hear is the constant orders of customers being barked at him. This young man is my father.
It's easy to see that he puts his work in front of his daughter most times because if he gets a call while he is with her, he is not too hesitant to leave. His job also gets in the way of his family. Because of his intelligence and experience, he is always one of the first people to get called into work. His job and family get in the way of each other and are major role
He only stayed at his job because if he left his job he felt like he would bring down his parents and not be able to help them out. I believe that this is an issue in today's world as well. There are many people that don't feel good enough or they don't belong. And this is mostly caused by bullying
If they don’t receive the commodities that are needed to live a comfortable lifestyle, then the family will fall apart. Kids need food on the table, they need a place to sleep, and they need the daily supplies that can get them through the day. Parents also need similar commodities as the kids. It’s very important for the parent to not only support the kids but to support themselves. Job’s “do what you love” doesn’t help anyone with supporting their families.
Over the last fifteen years, I have grown mentally and socially. I credit my growth to my ability to analyze and understand the world for what it is. Social imagination is the use of information to understand the world and ourselves for who we are. Possessing the quality of mind that can develop reason and the capacity to shift perspectives are the basis of social imagination (Mills 2000). As I mentioned in reflection one, I came to realize that my way of thinking is what helped me overcome living a poor lifestyle.
I have always viewed my father as the strong provider for the family, but that soon changed. A year ago my father was diagnosed with cancer. Soon after he lost his job, mainly because he was not physically capable of working. Bills after bills became pilling up and the thought of going to college, for the first time seemed far out of the question. I wanted to focus on providing for the family due, to the fact that my mother was not fortunate enough to find a job because she was not legally able too.
My father was also a hard worker. He had nine children to feed. With this in mind on a daily basis he keped the pace of working two fulltime jobs. For years I would see him get up and walk to work the in the coldness of the Bay Area winter breeze. At night, I would wait for him anxious to receive a warm hug and a blessing from his “cracked hands” (Hayden p1).
He is not happy with his income that supports his family. He sometimes gets work at the sugar mill. He is number 78 on the hire list for the sugar mill. Guy never wanted to be like his like father. His father was a struggling man too.
Father’s impact their children in various ways. A father’s actions can help their children grow up and have opportunities that they didn’t have. These actions are showed in the short stories The Boat by Alistair Macleod, Cages by Guy Vanderhaeghe, and in Beyond My Father’s Shadow by Gordon Chambers. When the sons were young their father’s actions seemed hurtful and disappointing, they later realised that their fathers were trying to help them have a better life. In The Boat, the son didn’t understand why him getting an education was so important to his father.
Being an immigrant is hard, and being the child of the immigrants bring its own problem. My father was once a soldier who served his country and always be there when the country needs him. He was an elegant eagle that has a heavier beak ripping the flesh of others bird, strong, muscular legs and power talons. He brought his pride home for the entire family.
He is always hard at work and he often has very little spare time. He is always working so he can so he can supply for our family, for this I look up to my dad as though he was the good of crafts and labour. An example of when I get the idea of my dad being a hard worker and wants to provide for our family is that he has to constantly go to places such as America for his work but doesn’t mind it and gets the job done. Another example of how he is a hard worker is that he is always willing to help me with homework and that he is very good at general crafts and is always determined to get things done. For this I respect my dad for how crafty and good at his work he is.
My father is working for the family. Once, when he came back home, my mom asked him to cook, however he thought that is my mom’s duty. It was wrong with my father that always ask my mother to do those
