For my Senior Project Experience I job shadowed a Park Ranger at Wallowa Lake Park. Having always have loved the outdoors and being interested as pursuing Recreation Management as a career it seemed like a fine choice for my experience. My mentor and I spent the weekend maintaining the park and working on projects to help make it better. Some of these tasks were harder than others, making for some challenging moments. Spending that weekend in a almost Fargo-esque environment with some strange characters and beautiful scenery was an amazing experience. This story starts after having spent 8 hours in a car and having the realization I was getting sick the day before. I woke up at 7 o’clock to get ready and eat before I met my mentor. I was nervous but excited for the day ahead. I finished my oatmeal and began to walk in the snow to where I thought I saw the ranger station the night before, but then again it was dark out. After I got there I had to wait, because in my excitement had arrived ten minutes early. When Dick Mcdonald (my mentor) got there I was quite surprised. Here I was expecting a young, brown haired man who was stern and serious. What he actually looked like was a rather older fellow with almost no hair and what is left is grey. He was a bit silly looking and …show more content…
I loved the time I spent there as a volunteer experience and I would do it again in a heartbeat. As a profession though I feel as if this is not what is for me. I think I just loved the outdoors so much that I wanted to work in it but I just much rather would be on the recreation side of it. I learned much more about the work there and about myself than I thought I would. I feel that I have built a sense of confidence when becoming social with someone I don 't know that I didn 't have before. Overall this experience taught me and allowed me an opportunity to leave my comfort zone and see what comes from it, and for that, I thank
For my service leaning assignment, I volunteered at the Conroe Cajun Catfish Festival in support of the Montgomery County Food Bank receiving donations at the festival entrance. In volunteering at the event, I learned the differences in service learning, volunteerism and community service and will provide details in what I learned a about each. I will also provide details and examples of teamwork, communication and networking experiences gained while at the event. A brief overview of the Montgomery County Food bank will also be provided with information on the assignment task, measurable success and interaction with fellow students and organization directors.
Unit 6 Role Podcasts: You are required to listen to at least four of the CTE Role Podcasts. Comment individually on each of the four podcasts you listened to, refer to the student by name. 1. Carol Argon-Montgomery: I think it is fantastic when a talented person such as yourself can take your real world experience in business and marketing and utilize them in a classroom. Helping students with career development will be very beneficial to them as they move forward.
They also told us if we come to school without uniform then we would have to pay 5 dollars which comes out of our check that they give us every two weeks. After getting uniforms they took us to a classroom where we met Ms. Bridget. She was nice. She told us all kinds of stories and things we shouldn’t be doing while in the Job Corps program, which was like a big heads up. Then she tried to get to know all of us she started asking us questions.

As I am quickly approaching the end of my senior, I am looking back at how far I have come since freshman year and everything that Henley High School has helped me accomplish in my life. In preparation for the life that every senior must experience after school, the senior capstone project was put in place to help seniors find out what they would suit them as career and give them some of the necessary tools in achieving that. Part of the capstone was earning service hours at a non profit organization, that can go on a resume. With serving came a facilitator, who guides one’s service, and also the challenges and success of the service itself. To Provide help on future careers, Henley High School also provided an opportunity to take the CIS test
1. As a young Fire Control Technician Third Class (FT3), I served under Fire Control Technician Chief (FTC) Chuck Thompson. Strong and proud, he stood like a massive oak tree in every room he entered; his mere presence demanded respect.
Razor-sharp leaves and blackberry thorns scraped my exposed legs as I hiked up the short trail leading to the central field of Gleason Cemetery. I spent a moment, absorbing my surroundings and came to a sudden realization: I’m going to be buried here before I finish this project. About ten concrete stones peaked their heads above an intricate tangle of emerald vines running up their bases. Thick blackberry bushes surrounded my father and I as we attempted to explore. “We’ll take this one grave at a time,” my dad assured me.
I was still on the fence about going, but then I realized that I should go for it. I hated my job in the office and I loved the outdoors so it would be perfect for me. My final decision was to risk everything and go. It ended up being one of the best decisions of my life.
I was a very outgoing child growing up, but once I reached the age of 14, I became pretty introverted. However, as soon as I walked into the room containing 40 girls my age, I decided that I was not going to be timid. Not here. Something in the atmosphere just felt so comforting, yet eerie. It was as if these girls had been my friends for years, and I knew that they were going to accept me.
There I became more independent. Once shy, I developed the confidence to step up to make an array of interesting friends and readily ask classroom questions important to me to broaden my knowledge, even though they may have seemed obtuse to my global peers. These experiential lessons led to my practicing public speaking by working in sales at a phone store. This was particularly significant as my transition from a once very quiet, introvert was complete when I exceeded not only my own, but everyone else’s sales
The night was cold and gloomy, my fingertips felt like ice, I could see my breath in the air though the air. My eyes hurt from the flashing lights from the ambulance and police cars beating into them like drums. The night was long and hard to get thought, we all just wanted it to be over, but it didn't seem to end. On a late afternoon in June i was walking with some friends: Bob, Edger, Steve and Franklin. We were near my house and headed towards the SkatePark.
Everyone; Many of the patients I serve at FHZ are surprised when they learn that I live in South Tampa and drive each day to Zephyrhills to work. I tell them the truth, I love where I live and I love where I work and so I must drive. From the moment I started working at FHZ it has been a love affair for me. I enjoy each day as I park in the parking lot and head to clock in for work.
A sense of accomplishment is invaluable to a person. Not only does a sense of accomplishment build confidence and faith in oneself, but it also allows one to reflect on how wonderful the journey to the accomplishment was, and how every little struggle and triumph was worth it. In the middle of summer, where time seems endless and the stress of the previous school year has been shed by students, I never expected to find out that I scored a five on both of the advanced placement exams I took. Nor did I have one-hundred percent confidence the goals we set as section leaders of the marching band would actually be met. Yet to my surprise, I had the good fortune of accomplishing challenging things in both aspects of my life.
One lesson that I learned regarding future team experiences is that a team name and a contract are crucial. This was also my first time creating a Gantt chart and I intend to use them in all my future team projects, it’s a great way to stay organized and make sure everything is on track. A contract cuts down on confusion, I have had way too many team projects where the consequences of not participating were unclear, some team members had no idea what their responsibilities were, who was in charge of what parts, when team meetings were, and when team due dates were. For previous team projects, I always tried to create an outline, but a contract and a Gantt chart really helped tremendously and I realized that the starting/planning stages of any team are crucial to the long-term success of a team. I also learned the importance of how my attitude during a training could influence the trainees’.
People from all over the US and people from other countries from the other side of the world started making friends with me. I was surprised how friendly everyone was. Nobody judged or picked on a single person, and for the first time at such a big place with thousands of people, I was comfortable being myself. I would have never thought as a little boy that no matter who or what you are, you 're going to be treated the same as
