I look to my father, the strongest man on earth, wearing his green uniform, walk through the door. The picture hanging on my wall doesn't resemble him, staring at it when I was younger I could never find his face in mine. Dad would tell me to protect my mother and sisters, I was the man in the house, although I always wondered who would protect him. My father was my best friend, my hero, doesn't the wisest man I knew, yet always in for a laugh, and was the sweetest to everyone. Sacrificing his safety for our well being while having joy in protecting us was all dad needed to feel blissful. He would always tell me he would come back, that him walking out that door was goodbye for then, until it was goodbye forever.

I have learned the more quiet you are, the more you can hear. A young boy passed me everyday in the park on his way to school with his friend. Harvey, was his name. An admirable lad who was kind to everyone. Once when he was a junior, he sat next to me with a plastic box filled with warm steak. Last time I had eaten a hot meal was as a child, and I was sincerely thankful for everything he had done. It took six years until I saw him again, this time wearing a camouflage suit with his little boy and wife. He smiled at me, reminding me of that time when talked for hours. I wanted to thank him, but I never saw him again, now all I see is his little boy walking with his mother, all

Growing up in Iraq in the era between the gulf war, Iran war, and Iraq war with the United state was a challenge for me, but it was not harder challenge than all what my parents went through to keep me and my siblings safe and sound. My mother is one of the strongest people that I have came cross in my life. She was and still the best mother, teacher, and my best friend. To me veteran is a person who risked their life so I could live in a better country. Throughout America’s history, we have depended on our soldiers to keep us safe and fight for our country while at the same time fighting for their families and their lives. Without veterans we couldn't enjoy the little things that we do now, we wouldn't be free. They fought for the people who couldn't fight for themselves. I believe that the soldiers who stood on the front lines to fight in wars are very brave.
The definition for veteran is a patriot who shows great courage and bravery and is also a defender of America and its freedom and is a hero to their country. I think that the Veterans should be honored for these three reason: the sacrifice that they went through, the respect they went through, and the freedom that they fought to give us. They Sacrificed a lot of things for our country. Many people gave up time with their family and left their homes. It takes so much time and effort to be in the army or military.
Framed I was running, I don’t know where, but any where’s safe, anywhere but here. The wet mud under my feet made my brand new Nike Flex TR’s look as if I had had this pair of shoes forever. The cops were chasing me, I know why. I didn’t bomb the Remembrance day at the Memorial Gardens in Manhattan, I was framed. You’d think I’d tell them what happened, but police don’t respect terrorists.

From the moment I was born I was considered a military brat, I was born in Hawaii at tripler hospital because my mom was in the army and stationed there, my biological father was in the marines. When my mom remarried when I was 7, she married a man who was in the Navy. Everyone thinks being a Military brat just means you know more than other people because you 've been more places and seen more things and you get a lot of stuff you want. This is not true at all. Coming from a military background means you never have stability, you are held to a higher standard than all the other kids, and sometimes it makes you want to be in the military and only focus on that.

In the locker room I could barely hear myself think, with every possible yell and roar as if warriors were getting to head out to the battlefield as if they were about to go out to war. Only moments before was I putting on my gear from the color coded pants to the reinforced helmet to be ready to take on any heavy collision. As we wait for the coaches signal, the warriors wait in the dark hallway ready to be let loose against any dare to oppose and try to stand in our way. As we stood in silent aggression the signal is heard and one after the other as the door is opened every warrior touched the doorway as luck going into battle with not only skill but lady luck on our side. With minutes after stretches and cool down we head over to our side, the only place where the other team could be safe from us and got ready to go to war.
By that time I had met a nice guy and we were going to get married and move away but in the back my mind, I still wanted to go in the military.
