Personal Narrative: My Graduate High School

The lunch bell rang loudly in my ear as I packed up my materials from math class. As soon as Mrs. Millie released our class, I raced everyone else in our grade to my locker so I wouldn’t have to wait in the back. I’m not an orator, nor am I a scholar. Though I do enjoy a good debate and engaging in intellectual conversations ; I feel like I am never “good-enough”. I always seem to find myself comparing myself to others. Whether it’s my grades or appearance. I never feel worthy.

Throughout my time in high school I have participated in numerous activities from sports to volunteer work to actual work. Sports was one of my favorite extracurricular activities that came after school because it was a time for me and my teammates to really create that bond between each of us and become like a family. I will play softball throughout all four years of high school. Last year, we made it to the playoffs. Being one of the older girls on the team I knew I needed to get my teammates excited so we could win by talking to the girls and playing music on the way to our game.

8th grade One cold day in October I was on my way to class when the school had a gas drill, everyone ran outside and lined up by there teachers, everything was going well for me till some girls keep putting grass on my hoodie “stop doing that, also why are you doing that?” after I said that they stops for a minute and started doing it again, “you know that this is boring so just let me do this *smile*” said the girl although it was itchy and made me mad I let her do it till we went inside and since then we’ve been friends.

Kids swarmed all around me, jumping like restless frogs in and out of the water. It was my boyfriend’s little brother’s seventh birthday party and I was either wondering if they were happy to see me or to see the ice cream cake I had brought. That’s when I saw him. He was sitting next to my boyfriend, Sebastian.

Senior year. Even looking back now at that very shy, awkward, not knowing how to keep a conversation going, and always feeling nervous girl I never thought that I would outgrow my shell as cliche as that sounds. I used to think everyone at high school was constantly staring at you always judging every little thing you did, but now I've realized that people are caught up in their own worlds to not even notice. People don't care about the clothes you wear, what your hair looked like, or what kind of advanced classes you're taking, I've realized that what people really care about is the person you portray and what kind of people you hang around. Freshman year I was just following the crowd I just wanted to be in a group with the "popular kids"

The smell of chlorine hurt my nose. I panicked my way to the emergency room with my uncle and brother, holding my mother’s hand, I know she will feel safe when I’m with her. “Please don’t save me,” She wept as she spoke. Her voice was assured, as if she had already made the decision. I tightened my grip to prevent myself from losing her in my hands.

Remember High school. Each person had their own group of people of close friends. Each day you would have eight total periods a day, including lunch and that one random class to make sure you have your arts and english classes passed before graduation. The only real time you had any time that was not about school was when there were assemblies and activities such as Prom/Homecoming or basketball games. The assemblies were always either something related to regulation, such as bullying or drug prevention, or a celebration for basketball/football.

Personal Narrative Essay Believe it or not, sometimes a gracious action can bring a huge influence on a person. When I read the introduction that instructor Heller wrote, there is a sentence she wrote: “Sometimes the most influential moments in our lives are smaller moments, events that we may not recognize as influential until years after the experience.” For some reason, I related to it strongly. My story is about my high school experience. Also, I will share some significant moments in my life, and how these smaller moments changed my personality.

After finishing High School, I felt like I had just accomplished a chapter in my life. I was now moving on to college to pursue a bachelor 's degree in Criminal Justice. I would be attending Santa Monica College, starting fall of 2016. I decided to go to SMC to experience its culturally diverse environment. My first semester I had many obstacles; however, it was worth it because at the end I learned to not give up.

God is real and so so good. Maybe you can see how I tasted Him this quarter. At the beginning of winter quarter, I was unsure of many things. I had registered for 4 classes and I thought it might be too much for me to handle. This fear was true at times throughout the quarter.

People often say life is what you make of it. You can make the most out of it, you can not care, or you can trudge around constantly being down. Everyone wants to be memorable; to etch their self into our Earth, and me? I’ll be remembered as that one hyper, creative, nerdy, Jesus freak of a girl and I love it. The majority of people at Carmichael Middle School knows me as the one loud girl who always yells and jumps in the hallways (oops.)

With the warm air in my face, causing my make up to become sticky. Once I was handed my diploma with my name on it, I didn’t worry about anything at that moment or for the whole day. I wasn’t thinking about the way my crown hair was uneven, or that my makeup was staining my gown, or that my black and white platform heels didn’t match my rose pink dress. The worries that were superficial before I truly graduated had melted away. The tough parchment paper under my hand made my day ten times better than anything ever could until that moment.

Thomas Moore has been my top high school choice for the past two years and I was elated when I found out that I got accepted into the school. I’m getting more and more excited about highschool as the months pass and I’m glad to know that academic success is put in the hands of a school such as Thomas Moore. This high school is the perfect fit for me. It has everything I believe I need to be successful in my work and even more.

When I graduate high school, I plan on having future goals that I plan on achieving. My first goal is to go to college and get a degree. I plan on attending Purdue NorthWest majoring in engineering and minoring in business. This is my number one future goal that I need to accomplish because to be able to have a nice life, I need to go to college to support my future family. My next future goal would be get a starting job to be able to support my future family.
