Personal Narrative: My Goals At Washburn University

When I was was younger, I was a caterpillar crawling around trying to get through life, waiting to turn into the beautiful butterfly I know I could soon become. I made good decisions along with bad ones, saw the beauty in life as well as the unpleasant. I was like everyone else trying to be their own person, but now as I look at myself in the mirror I can finally see who I really am. I see myself as the beautiful butterfly I once dreamed of becoming, ready to fly down my own path. I have been in my chrysalis and I am finally out and ready to fly into my bright future.

In my freshman year, I made a choice to relinquish some of my social life and replace that time giving back to my community. I joined a non-profit organization called the Volunteer Corp. We spent our time at food banks, park clean-ups, and even hosting local events. This experience left a lasting impression on me in many ways; however, one experience changed my perspective on life and serve as a constant reminder of how the smallest contribution to others can be the most powerful. St. Joseph University, in Philadelphia, held an event called Hand in Hand. It was an event dedicated to raising awareness for people with physical and/or developmental disabilities.

Though I have had many achievements and disappointments, one thing that I have always been proud of is my ardor for everything that I do. The Governor’s School for Science and Math offers a rigorous path to pursue, but it is the one that I have dedicated myself to for many years. GSSM opens up a myriad of new doors for me; it will provide me with opportunities some people would never even dream of. My lively personality will fit in perfectly with GSSM’s positive environment and, in spite of the necessary sacrifices, the reward far outweighs the cost. My dynamic personality will contribute to the society of The Governor’s School in various ways.

Awe, the fresh wind blowing in my hair a beautiful view of a Nice calm pond and the sound of angels coming from a coming from a Distance. This is my perfect little spot at Miami Dade College. In my little Spot I do my homework or wait for my next class. Its the best place on the whole campus to be. Breath in and smell the fresh air.

Entering Rutgers University, I thought my most difficult challenges were going to be reading, writing, and public speaking. However, reflecting on my experience leading up to my graduation, the challenge that comes to mind most frequently, is time management. Learning how effectively prioritize, manage, and balance a schedule comprised of countless assignments, tasks, appointments, familial responsibilities, classes, internships, personal life, and relationships can be intimidating and challenging for those lacking strong organizational skills.

During my first year at Florida State University my goal is to broaden my perspectives and become open to new ideas and thinking that differs from mine. I plan to push the boundaries of my comfort zone by participating and becoming involved in activities that I normally wouldn 't. My hope is that by l challenging myself I will benefit by being an improved problem solver and an exceptional communicator that will benefit me in my future.

When beginning my college search, the three keywords that I based my search on were: Catholic, liberal arts, and California. Each of these aspects holds a great deal of significance to me because I hope to continue my Catholic education and nurture my faith. I also want to focus my studies in the field of education because I aspire to be an elementary school teacher and would like to attend college in-state to be able to visit my family often because they are a very important part of my life. With these aspects in mind, the college search engines gave me extensive lists of colleges, but Saint Mary’s College was always one of the top five matches on the lists and also the one that appeared the most frequently among the different search engines

I can contribute my hard work to the Honors College community. I think that I am hardworking and I love to work with others to help solve problems because two heads are always better than one. I would contribute my ideas to the lessons and help others when they need it. I love to be able to work with other people outside my comfort zone and be able to hear their ideas and combine ideas to come up with something that will benefit everyone in the community.

My experiences and what I have learned from them will add to the Towson University campus community. The world I come from is based around a family which displays strength and resilience. I come from a military family where both my mother and father have served many years. My mother served for nineteen years in the U.S. Navy while my dad served for several years in the U.S. Marines. I have three siblings, all within five to ten years older than me.

In the “Your Honors and Activities” section, I only listed the activities that I have participated in for more than 3 years. But, I choose to write my essay on the most important activity to me than I am currently been participating in for less than a year - my volunteer work at the Child Development Institute’s Early Learning Center. I find this the most important activity to myself because volunteering at the Early Learning Center allows me to express a side I don’t feel comfortable expressing in front of my family - my love for working with children. Also, when I volunteer, that is the happiest you’ll see me.

During the past seven weeks, I learned to construct the problem statement, purpose statement, research question, theoretical framework, nature of study, and significance of study. I noticed that the theoretical framework and significance of study are two of my weaknesses in the doctoral study. I am having difficulty understanding the requirements of the components. To improve my weaknesses, I plan to ask colleagues and my chair for feedback and read previous doctoral studies. After receiving feedback from the components, I plan improve in each draft.

and I think that meeting new people especially geared towards my interests, make it even more exciting! I have had the opportunity to participate in a four week long residential summer program, Summer Ventures, and I was able to gain a valuable experience of living without my parents and community members. I think that this experience has really helped me be more prepared for college and it has also helped me realize the sense of responsibility that I need to have, in order to look after myself. Furthermore, I have become extremely independent and I have definitely gained more skills like time management and

The college has assisted in my growth both academically as well as socially. I have nearly completed my associates degree. I have participated the college 's bowling team and SSS (Student Support Services). As well as becoming a member of my community college 's chapter of Phi Theta Kapp.

The college process was diffficult for me and to be quite honest, I was very close to giving up on the college dream. Then i found bennington college, a school that sounded too good to be true, I was more than thrilled when i realised that it had everything that i ever wanted, it was a calm and beautiful liberal arts campus that offers unique and different courses. even amongst the top liberal art schools in the country, on the surface its has a tightknit campus community, incredible resources per student, small classes, and experienced teachers. But more critically, the bennington "spirit" is incredible. There just seems to be something special about this school,

To start off, what I believe makes me unique and different from other candidates is my determination and my ability to get back up after being knocked down. Many students applying to the University of California have had continued academic success. Either they are successful high school students that have never posted anything lower than a 3.0 GPA or transfer students that have cruised easily through community college. This was not the case for me. I did have some success in high school receiving awards such as honor roll, but there were also numerous times when I struggled to maintain a passing grade.
