A warm morning, sun shining with a slight breeze, and calm waters; the perfect day to learn how to water ski. I had never been water skiing before, I barely knew what it was, I was anxious to say in the least. I stood on the dock as my parents maneuvered the boat into the water, I’ve never been so uncertain. My family reassured me that everything would be okay as I was strapped up my life jacket. I stood on the edge of the boat, apprehensive, but I had to jump in the water, it was now or never. As soon as I got in the water, I put my skis on tight enough so they wouldn’t fall off, but loose enough that they could come off if need be. I swam out behind the boat far enough away that I wouldn’t be near the engine when it started. I was instructed to “make like I was sitting in a chair,” with my knees bent and my toes out of the water, making the skis stand up straight. I put the rope that was …show more content…
I kept replaying these tips over and over again in the back of my mind. Each time the boat took off, I stayed up on the water a little bit longer and slowly but surely, I was progressing. The engine started up and I felt determined, this time it was going to be different. I followed all the step I had previously learned, and the next thing I knew, I was skiing. I was beyond excited that I finally stayed up, it only seems fitting that when I went to celebrate, I feel directly on my face, yet again. Water skiing is most certainly one of the most difficult sports I’ve ever participated in, nonetheless, where you get the hang of it, there is nothing more exhilarating. It’s a long process but when you follow the steps, a difficult task becomes much more simplified. It takes awhile to finally perfect it, but the end result is well worth the
We drop the anchor, stopping the boat in shallow sandy area where we can spend the afternoon. With little hesitation we are in the water. Splashing fights are immediate, but soon we start an organized game of tag while the grownups relax and prepare lunch aboard the boat. Sandwiches in the cooler, our parents make their way into the water too. Aunty’s scream scares me.
As we went up the ski lift, i could feel the beauty of the fresh white powder on the mountain. Right away i could tell that this was going to be very difficult because of all of the trees and slopes on the course. At the top of the mountain, i looked down and took a deep breath. I said to myself “ no regrets”. I jumped and before i knew it, i was heading down the mountain.
Lakes Every time I stare out across a lake, a million questions flow through my head. But the number one question that I ask the most about them is “why?” or “how”, and I’ve wondered about these big reservoirs of water since I’ve journeyed onto one.

At December 27, 2016, we were on the highway on Emmitsburg, MD on our way to Liberty Ski Resort to snowboard and ski for 8 hours.
It made me tired, swimming in the trough, and I turned and swam out to the raft... After a while I stood up, gripped with my toes on the edge of the raft as it tipped with my weight, and dove cleanly and deeply, to come up through the lightening water, blew the salt water out of my head, and swam slowly and steadily into shore. My hands slipped on the metal gutters of the pool when I did my turn but otherwise my leg of the race went well. During my next event I felt energized and ended up getting my best time for the season. Before I knew it, the official blew the whistle to get in the water for my next race. My feet flew off the wall as I started. It was perfect.
Thinking my eyes had literally deceived me, I contemplated what would occur next. Suddenly trembling with fear, my only recollection was the period of time before getting on the chair lift. Upon making my way to what I thought was a slightly more advanced ski chair lift I soon realized that it had been a grave mistake when I reached the top. At that point, I had only two choices: to try my luck and hopefully make it down the mountain alive, or to wait to board a returning chairlift to the bottom. In the heat of the moment I decided to go for it, not knowing if I would make it down safely.
The pulley was just above me, and I reached out to touch it symbolizing that I had finished the climb. I grabbed that pulley with glee and relief. I was so proud of myself for going beyond what I thought. I looked out behind me and saw a view like no other. I was so relaxed until I felt my hands release all of their tension, and I couldn’t react fast enough to save myself.
Snowboarding, like any other sport, one must be thinking at all times, analyzing situations, making split decisions, and making quick calculations. Before my trip, I had only flown on an airplane once, never by myself, I have never seen a mountain so big, and I had zero experience snowboarding. If I only knew then what I know now, I would have entered this new experience with more confidence in myself. Before my trip to Utah, I had only flown on an airplane once before, and now I was going to fly alone.
I was sweating profusely. The powerboat was traveling at breakneck speed. I was completely pumped up and feeling invincible. I've always been a thrill-seeker.but this speed was almost too much,'Don't freak out',I told myself' Just remember the name of your boat-Nerves of steel!'I have to powerboat racing because i'm a thrill-seeker. I was terrified and sweating profusely.
One of my favorite things to do is to film an activity with gopro and then edit it later that day. When I first got my gopro I didn’t know how to use it very well but over time I got better and as I got better, I started to enjoy it even more than anything because it was easy simple and I could do it wherever I wanted to do it. Whenever I’m editing it’s like I get sucked into a hole new world and when i’m editing I think it’s been 30 minutes but really it’s been 2 hours.
Living in a generation where patience is a thing of the past, we don’t understand the little moments that make every minute worth living for. 360 degree view, half filled with a sea of white, the other, a clear straight view of the desert, the city, the adventure. I did it. I completed my goal to reach the peak of the mountain and I never gave up. After pushing myself to continue onward, I realized that I give myself less credit than what I can actually achieve and I am
The water begins to tickle my neck. Bare feet make contact the seaweed underneath the water. I keep walking on the seafloor until I can only stand on the tips of my toes. My nostrils begin to approach the waters, tilting my head up trying to obtain space to breathe. Cognizant that I don’t know how to swim I try to devise the form of a what a swimmer should resemble.
It felt like my ears were going to burst, and my legs were in a knot. I quickly swam up, so the pressure levels. After a while of admiring the spectacular scenery underwater, each one of us swam toward the shore. The adventure was
My second winter snowboarding started off painful. I was going snowboarding with some family friends at Cranmore Mountain and to say the least the experience was eventful. Getting there we stand in line to get the over priced day passes and struggle in the warmth of the lodge while wearing enough clothes for sub degree weather. We get to the front of our line pay the price on the sign and we were off to a long day of skiing and snowboarding we thought. First thing we do is go to the biggest chair lift which goes to the top of the mountain.
