Personal Narrative Essay: Make America Great Again

He appeals to each and every person as stated “Vice President Johnson, Mr. Speaker, Mr. Chief Justice, President Eisenhower, Vice President Nixon, President Truman, reverend clergy, fellow citizens, we observe today not a victory of party, but a celebration of freedom – symbolizing an end, as well as a beginning – signifying renewal, as well as change.” This brought to attention that he leaves nobody behind, and is concerned for the wellbeing of each person. Several individuals from different ethnicities, races, and citizenships, compose a society. The United Sates allow us to have a close interaction with numerous individuals from diverse backgrounds. In my own case I have been able to interact with many incredible individuals from all over the world who come from extremely different backgrounds. I am a proud Mexican who cherishes respect towards diversity. Coming from a very suffered country I am able to understand not only what does it means to feel proud to be a Latino, but also I can feel acquainted with the pain and struggle that our community has to face every day.

The Reason the United States Government Has Failed its People It is now January 3rd, 1931, and I have been unemployed and homeless for over a year now living on the streets of Chicago. About ten years ago, I started working in a factory that created underarm deodorant. Around a year and a half ago, my wage was decreased. Eventually I was fired.

America how could you let this happen? A man whose translation for "Make America great again" is "Make America white again" for a country that was solely built on the hardwork of immigrants and the labor of black people. (I won't even be surprised if kkk gets back in action) and can we not even get started on the laws this man has promised to pass? Yes realistically he can't fulfill them all but to have a president that thinks in such a myopic manner is the scariest sh*t ever (sorry I can't cuss in full my mother follows me on social media) I wasn't even following the campaigns at first because I thought they were basically asking you jump off a bridge or jump in front of trailer, but atleast with Hillary there was going to be peace of mind.

Political Stance Paper: I can proudly and firmly say that I am a Conservative Republican. Reason being is that I stand behind the constitution, and behind our founding fathers. Ways of life has drastically changed from a hundred years ago to today. I wouldn't say by any means for the best either.

Upon meeting me, not many people know that I am a first generation American. However, they are usually interested in the orgin of my last name. I am in fact Ukranian. Both my parents and my older sister were born in Ukraine. They immigrated to America in 1992 because of religious persecution that they were facing.

What does it mean to be an American today? Or rather, what does being an American entail? Does that pertain to a certain individual’s perspective? Or is Americanism defined through a collective consciousness projected around the world? Over the course of time, Americans have gone through various embodiments of who they are, without loosing the essence of what they represent.

My identity has always felt inextricably linked to what Miami is. A city that is teeming with immigrants, a city with dreams stacked and slopped atop each other, and a city that is living proof of the failed American dream. I say so because of my early observation that generation after generation of immigrants often seemed to stay trapped in dead end jobs; I saw this within my own family – within my grandmother, my aunts and uncles, and even my cousins. Here it was even within my own family tree the deep implicit message that there was no way out of our socioeconomic level. When I made it into an Ivy League college, it was a message that was slowly re-enforced by the fact that my demographic was the most represented in the custodial staff rather than within my own classmates.

On my father’s first day in America, he was shoved into a compact 1-person apartment along with two other refugees and was merely granted $19 a week to accommodate for basic expenses, including food and transportation. Despite such desperate circumstances, he maintained an optimistic outlook, and while hard times were ahead, my father knew that new opportunities were also awaiting him in the land where the American Dream thrives. My father initially left Vietnam as a last desperate hope to escape Vietnam’s strict communist government, where a future of military service was inevitable for young boys, who came from families of lower social statuses. As a teenager moving to a new country with a different culture, different language, and being thousands of miles away from everyone I grew up with was not an easy change, however, that was precisely what I did in January of 2013 when I came to the United States with my father. My whole world changed since, and shaped my way of thinking. From learning English, adjusting to a new culture, experiencing my first snow and finding my way in my new country, my life has been an exciting adventure. My parents brought me to America almost 5 years ago to have a better life, and to get a better education.

My Responsibility to America In America, we are given freedoms and our basic human rights. To make sure these freedoms such as free speech are kept, we as Americans have responsibilities to America. Whether it be in our everyday lives serving in our community or special occasions when serving on a jury, Americans are held to these responsibilities to keep the United States to the standard that it always is. Our basic responsibilities are to pay taxes and vote in elections, however, they extend far greater than those.

Parents have an enormous influence on the way their child acts, thinks and is perceived by others, and if there is anyone who is doubtful of this- I am walking proof. The two people who raised me have molded me into the person that I am and will be. From a young age, children become aware of seemingly little things that stay with them whether they like it or not. In my case, I wondered about how my parents could not attend my concerts like all my friends’ parents could, or how they were not able to help me with my homework. I was always jealous of others who did not have these thoughts stuck in their head- just as the thought of a stalled task clings to the mind, only coming forth when it starts to be forgotten.

My Journey to America Moving from Nigeria to the United States permanently feels great, but at the same time it is sad leaving some of your loved ones and family behind. There are many events in life, which can change one’s way of thinking. As for me, one of the major changes in my life occurred when I moved from Africa to America. This change has entirely affected my personality positively. Why?
