Personal Narrative Essay: How Hockey Has Changed My Life

As a freshman Ean had never played goalie, previously playing as a defensemen. Our program was in need of a goalie and Ean being the natural leader he is stepped up to fill the role as a freshman. This is where as a coaching staff we discovered our future goaltender for the next four years. From the first day Ean was the hardest working young man on the field.

It allows him to break free from the torment and abuse he experiences at the school and in the past with his family. The game provides Saul with a sense of identity. He notes that “on the ice, [he feels] free” (22). Saul only sees hockey as a game, not something competitive or violent. He uses hockey to get away from problems that seem to follow him everywhere.

When I was ten, I scored three-hundred and seventy-eight goals in a season. That’s around five goals per game. An Ontario newspaper had nicknamed me “The Great Gretzky,” which ended up staying with me over the years. When I was just fourteen, I moved to Toronto, Canada. My family continued to support me, even though I had to move away from them at such a young and fragile age, all for hockey.

The hockey community is a family and everyone is not only committed to pursuing their own goals and dreams, but also committed to supporting yours as well. This sense of camaraderie is what drives happiness

Joining the lacrosse team, supplemented by joining the wrestling team and moving away for my first year of college, has helped to me recognize who I am as a person and where I want to be in my life. I wish to become the best version of myself that I possibly can be, and when I

Various countries around the world either play professionally, or just cheer on the game, but the Stanley Cup allowed the players to represent their countries and show others what they were capable of.

As I grew older, I came to the realization that sports were not just a game, they with life lessons. Without sports, I would not have been in the same place I am today. They have taught me the importance of teamwork, attitude, and perseverance. In almost every sport, a team is a family and with them you are nothing. You learn to rely on the person

To conclude, my many years of hockey have changed me in ways that no other activity or sport could’ve, while teaching me teamwork and making me develop a thicker skin that I definitely would not have yet without it, and it has made me a stronger and more independent

Ever since I was a child, my parents have kept me involved in sports. Growing up I played many sports, but the one sport that stuck out to me was hockey. I have been playing hockey at a competitive level for the past 11 years and while playing hockey has given me the experience of being in a team environment, it has also taught me to work towards a common goal. Through the past 11 year of playing competitive hockey, I have had some incredible experiences that have morphed me into a more well rounded individual. Playing hockey at such a competitive level has granted me many opportunities that many other people my age haven't had the chance to do.

Dedication is the secret to success for many athletes. I started playing mini-mite travel hockey when I was five years old. At that level they focused on teaching us basics of skating and hockey skills. After playing travel hockey for a couple years, I quit hockey all together for coaching difficulties.

Another great thing about being part of a team is that you pick each other up. For example if somebody is feeling down it is your team 's responsibility to lift you up. There is no greater feeling than being a lacrosse

As a goalie, I know that my fitness requirements are different to the fitness requirements that the field players have. In field hockey, there are eleven positions.
