“Some people succeed because they are destined, but most because they are determined.” This quote was written by an unknown author, and it is one of many that I live by. If I had a single word that best fits myself, it would be determination. I am always advancing myself in one way or another with a purpose to whatever I set my mind to. I am so privileged to say that one of those activities is fitness. Fitness has been apart of my life for as long as I remember, with a large range of various activities. When I was only two years old, my mom signed me up for gymnastics at the gym named Salto. Little did I know during the terrible two’s age, that this sport would become my passion in life. Salto Gymnastics was my second home for ten years. The countless hours in the gym made it unbearable for it not to be my home. This sport is extremely challenging not only physically, yet mentally as well. Adding to that, the endless hours spent in the gym per week taught me how to be disciplined and determined in varied aspects of life. Excluding the obvious such as, weight loss and muscle toning, I am going to talk about the other physical and mental benefits that fitness brings to my world. First off, I am always feeling my best self when I continue to consistently workout. The sense of relieve that is lifted off my shoulders after a tough workout is one of the many reasons why I do what I do. It is a feeling of accomplishment that I just conquered one of the most laborious workouts of all time, it makes me feel like I can do anything. Ever since I was little, being on Clearfield High School drill team was always a big dream of mine since I saw them perform at multiple of their schools football and basketball games. My parents took me to my first dance class when I was three years old and ever since I fell in love with that particular sport. I was different from all of the other kids at my school because they always got to play with the other kids from school and I always ended up having dance, but I didn’t mind because that was where most of my really close friends was at my childhood dance studio. I grew really attached to everything about that studio.
It’s made me want to compete even more and, I want to win! As s dancer you never know what opportunities you’ll act so you have to be very versatile. You never know who’s watching you. I do almost every style of dance. Ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop, musical theater, and a little bit of acro.

Millions of Americans are unaware and often misunderstand the opportunities available,as it was found by the American Academy of Orthopedic surgeons found that “Youth sports in the United States is now a $15 billion industry. There are seemingly endless opportunities for club-level teams, personal coaches, and training technologies to help kids excel at their chosen sport” ( Lewis 1). The results of this study provided how fortunate Americans are to have access to such a unexpectedly successful youth sports industry. One of the main solutions Americans seem to take for granted in preventing overexhaustion is strength training.
I had hated it from the beginning. The skin tight leotards, the unforgiving stretches and the cold wood floors all made me want to rip apart the headache-inducing bun that sat at the top of my head. I never knew that at the age of five, I could harness so much hatred for something as dainty as ballet class. As the years passed, my dislike for dance only grew. I wanted to be done with all the pain, the torn muscles, the broken toes, the endless amount of blisters, and the countless number of worn out pointe shoes.
I have been dancing in Dance Mission’s youth program, GRRL Brigade, since I was eight years old. I currently take modern dance and I play the Taiko drums. Did you know that dancers practice between 5- 10 hours a week? That’s a lot of work for them to do. In practice, you need to make sure that you have all the steps right, all of the counts right, and especially the choreography right. Practice makes dance a sport because all other sports have practice to make them better. That's what dance does to you if you work hard.
The moment my neck hit the spring floor and my body shook with impact, I thought I would never have the courage to tumble again. Even with getting a concussion from tumbling I was able to still manage to get past that setback and achieve my current and future goals through practicing. I believe that practice will create courage. Starting in seventh grade I took upon a new challenge, cheerleading. I had never done anything in my life that was related to cheer other than when I was a child doing gymnastics.
The reason for this is almost 100 colleges in the US have gymnastics teams. Not only can you continue to do gymnastics and do what you love, you can even earn a helpful scholarship! As a result, if you go to college and get on the gymnastics team, you can make friends quickly because you have something in common with your teammates. Now if you take Simone Biles for instance, she trained so hard in gymnastics and got to go to the Olympics. Not only did she get to go to the Olympics, which is pretty dang hard to do, but she won 1st all around, floor, and vault!
My personal narrative Wow quitting dance was like leaving my family. But sometimes it won't hurt to try to try something new or having spare time on my hands. So I started dance when I was four. It was so hard to concentrate or even pay attention because of all the things going through my head.
I became much more of a positive thinker and also much more confident and social. I had never experienced this feeling before and I felt like a new person. Although many talk of fitness as only a physical change it is also very beneficial for your mind and changes the way you perceive things. Weightlifting can have an overall positive impact on your life. I felt as if I had finally broken out of my shell and started enjoying life more.

There are many benefits to Fitness. My favorite kind of fitness is free weights. Free weights are an amazing way to get strong and look good. A lot of people might think that lifting weights is pointless and the only benefit to it is just gaining muscles that you will never use. I first started gymnastics in fifth grade and I only took classes. Soon my skills increased and I got onto the level four team at the YMCA. After a year on level four I moved up to level five. As a level five I got many medals and trophies. I have gotten first place on all four events, beam, bars, floor, and vault.
