The thought and actions of taking care of a stroke victim may seem easy, but contrary to belief, most caretakers are not aware of the enormous and strenuous road that lies ahead of them. One of the main issues amongst stroke victim caretakers is that they aren’t aware of the important risk factors or preventable measures of a stroke. In most cases involving strokes, caretakers are left with an onerous responsibility of providing care for a stroke victim. Particularly, stroke rehabilitation is a critical step immediately following survival of a stroke. It is important that caretakers and stroke victims understand and receive education regarding his or her condition and know the continuing limitations that occur after stroke rehabilitation. Perseverance is a great quality to possess; it is the determination of doing something despite opposition. During the struggle of stroke victims’ new life, they gradually begin to accept their new existence; a stroke victim may come to a realization that they can continue living a productive life, resuming their normal social activities. In other words, perseverance is self-discipline; one cannot be handed one’s goals, one must strive to achieve them, such as the story of stroke survivor Amy Steinbrech, who became paralyzed for unknown reasons. According to an article in The Stroke Association, Amy recalls her recovery experience to be “intense”. Although she had a long road ahead of her, she rose to the occasion and persevered. Amy insists that maintaining a positive attitude and surrounding oneself with a strong support group can help one go a long way. Despite the doctors writing “TBD (to be determined)” as Amy’s release date, an unresisting Amy wrote her release date as January 31st, but she wasn’t discharged until February 8th (“Stories From The Heart”). “Amy realized that despite this twist of fate; she has a lot of living to do” (“Stories From The Heart”). “Arriving in the hospital on stretcher to now being able to go on a 7-mile hike with my friends is really pretty incredible,” she said (“Stories From The Heart”). Generally the rate of recovery is the greatest when participating in a stroke rehabilitation program. Most importantly, stroke victims can improve their overall state of being and quality of life. In the novel Brave New World, Aldous Huxley gave many warnings for the future. Huxley drafted this book to be envisioned as a perfect world, but not everyone is perfect. Huxley’s world that he envisioned is slowly turning into a reality in our world today. The use of drugs in Huxley's world was overused and abused. The people in Brave New World consumed these drugs to cover up the ugliness.
Even though she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, she is still able to have the strength to achieve anything that is possible to her. Because of having MS, the unpredictable course of the disease were terrifying to her. Each night she would get into bed wondering whether she will ever get out again the next morning. Whether she be able to see, speak, to hold a pen between, knowing that one day might come. With the horrible situation in Nancy's life she had the strength to overcome any obstacle.
Nancy Mairs, the author of “On Being a Cripple”, suffers from Multiple Sclerosis, a degenerative neurological auto-immune disease. In her essay Mairs writes how in the end her life did not really change all that much. In fact aside from banging around the kitchen a little more often and being slightly more clumsy, her life was just great. Her family was supportive, and she was able to easily come to terms with her disability, she was able to move forward with her life needing only minimal adaptations. And that is just great.
NO matter how much of a pain it was for her, she kept going and don 't’ give up. Persistence may be difficult at the time to accomplish, but in the end it pays off. After Aimee Mullins had gone through what she did, she was still disabled but it wasn’t difficult for her to do what everyone else could do. This experience for her not only taught her hat she was very persistant and a hard worker, but also taught her that it didn’t matter whether or not she was disabled or not, she could do whatever she wanted to as long as you keep trying to achieve your
“There is always a reward in all hard-work and sacrifices, so you must be patient and stay strong in all circumstances.” These words of Nishan Panwar perfectly describe how determination and perseverance is rewarded. In “Flowers for Algernon” by Daniel Keyes, a mentally challenged man named Charlie Gordon was selected for an experimental operation that tripled his I.Q., and experienced the effects it had on his life. Charlie Gordon made the right decision to have the operation. Firstly, he wanted to become smart so he could fit in with everyone.
This quote shows that even though Mairs sometimes has difficulty accepting her illness, she knows that there is a growing acceptance of people who must deal with the difficulties that she faces. This ultimately lends a hopeful and positive tone to an otherwise serious and depressing section of her essay. This contrast in tone, but general feeling of hope is key to the type of emotions that Nancy Mairs is trying to educate her readers about. Mair is successful in using multiple rhetorical strategies to connect with the reader.

The novel The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, begins with the awakening of the author Jean Bauby, who slipped into a coma after suffering from a stroke. In Bauby own words, “you survive, but you survive with what is so aptly known as “locked-in syndrome,” With feelings of despair and sadness, it must be hard for many people suffering from any kind of chronic illness to remain hopeful and realistic. Chronic illness is a condition that lasts for a long time, and while some can be controlled or managed, most cannot be completely cured. Chronic illness can make it impossible to continue everyday activities, do things that people used to enjoy, and create feelings of hopelessness. Before the accident, Bauby was an active, fashionable, and sociable
“Single-Handed Cooking” by JJ Goode speaks about his disability and how although he acknowledges it as an obstacle it isn 't one they aren 't continuously ready to overcome. He uses the example of cooking. It 's a task that for most does not require the intense focus that he needs ,yet it doesn 't stop him from cooking dishes ranging in difficulty. With each dish he successfully creates its a way to prove himself, while the mistakes no matter the cause are a failure. Which is why he continues to tackle demanding recipes because each time he achieves a great end result its another accomplishment.
Currently, the key advocacy in neuroscientific studies for stroke rehabilitation is that therapy should be directed towards task specificity performed with multiple repetitions (Lawal et al. 2015). CCT would be a suitable treatment for Michael’s lower limb in aiding
