I do believe that every obstacle or disadvantage can turn into something good. Whatever obstacle that is thrown at us we always have to find a way to solve it out, they always may seem like the impossible but everything is fixable. So with that being said, yes every obstacle or disadvantage can turn into something better. Some people say that obstacles like that or having disadvantages can’t turn into something good. They say it makes people even fear more because they are scared and don’t think they have a way out of it. It may affect people in thinking that everything bad happens to them and life isn’t fair with them. On the other hand, I think that’s not correct. I think it helps them get more motivated to know that they can overcome any obstacle they want whenever they feel like it. Just how people say it may cause them to fear having those obstacles it also motivates them to get better and overcome them. …show more content…
For example, when I first got in volleyball my first year which was sixth grade,I was probably the worst player since I had never played before. Consequently,I felt embarrassed going to practice or doing a skill in front of the coaches because I knew I wasn’t the best. In effect, that made me get inspired to practice more and get good at it. I started going more to open gym and would go to camps and other places where they would do off season. As a result, I ended up getting better and knowing more about the skills that I didn’t know as much or how to do them correctly. As you can see, I was able to overcome this obstacle because i put in a lot of work and dedication. I wanted to get better at it so I did. I worked hard and never gave up on something I believed I could achieve if i wanted it so
Living in Conditions that Ultimately Made Them Stronger John Quincy Adams once stated, “patience and perseverance have a magical effect before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish.” In the world today, obstacles have an impact on the way one goes about their respective life. These obstacles range from emotions to illness to social class. How one interprets those obstacles decides whether that life goes down as a success or failure. As a society, we often admire those who take their obstacles and use them to create a better life.
Horace, an ancient Roman poet from around 50 BC (Coolidge 90), is quoted on saying “Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents which in prosperous circumstances would have lain dormant.” Now while Horace was very intelligent, and this quote seems to be correct, there are also numerous occasions in which adversity has brought about the inverse reaction. Throughout history, adversity has repeated both of the effects many times, such as: in Horace’s life, the biblical story of Joseph, the War of 1812, during the Great Depression and throughout World War II.
In fact, it can, and often does, bring the opposite. It frequently leads to people losing self-confidence, and devastatingly, it also drives people to suicide more often than you may
Any obstacle or disadvantage may be turned into something good if you really want to change what the situation is. In the book “The Glass Castle” Jeannette Walls went through a plethora of obstacles and disadvantages in her life that caused dilemmas for her, yet they never stopped her. In the book “ The Outsider” just by the fact of being born a greaser was already a disadvantage and there was still more obstacles to come, but that didn’t stop Ponyboy from trying to change his situation for better. Some people say that usually when you’re in a difficult situation where there are many obstacles and disadvantages in your way, you should either give up or just move to somewhere else where the situation is easier. I’ve heard this from more people than I can count and there are still many more with different ideas, but that lead to the same conclusion as said above.
For example, as a former gymnast, cheerleading was a sport that I had been passionate about for many years, but never put much thought into joining a cheerleading team, because I used to be a shy and introverted person and I was having a hard time to speak and present myself confidently in front of others. However, one of my best friends mentioned tryouts to me during my high school freshman year. Excited by the opportunity, I decided to go to the tryout. After a year on the team, I could not only confidently cheer in front of huge crowds, but was also able to interact with others without any self doubt.
You think to yourself that, “I could not be that player, person, or teammate someone wanted to be.” But quite frankly, I was that “player” some of my teammates wanted to be. That drove me to become a better player and mature as a
5th pd TSI Obstacles Everyday we face obstacles that can be life threatening or just cause a minor incident, and every person has a different way to fix their problems. Some people take these obstacles and try to find a positive reason for them, also finding a way to get out of the situation. This matters because people try to be always in the right mood and happy, so they make this obstacles into something good. Obstacles can be turned into a good thing, you just have to approach it in a joyful manner ,or always have a positive attitude about everything. Although some obstacles can really drain you , they take out all of your happy vibes and just kill the mood.
When people don’t feel good about the way they just performed in whatever it is that they do, it causes them to try harder and strive to do better every opportunity they get. The text says, “while also providing athletes or performers with drive and purpose to be better” (Armideo). While the athletes are feeling bad about themselves and trying to get over that loss, it lets them reflect on what they did wrong and how they can be better from then on out. This shows that athletes need that experience and feeling of losing so that they can better themselves. As well as making students and athletes try harder, they also can cause a sense of entitlement in our society of
As the Roman poet Horace once said, "adversity has the effect of eliciting talents which in prosperous circumstances would have lain dormant." In other words, he believed that challenges are beneficial because they bring out talents that would have stayed hidden otherwise. He thought that adversity would force a person to use their unknown talents out of desperation. Some argue that his theory is irrelevant and that a person 's skills will develop just as well without adversity if they have the capacity, but I believe that hardships will evoke and improve on their dormant talents.
There could be a positive outcome were an obstacle can be turned into good. An example would be going to jail because it has a negative situations to positive. Going to jail might be something difficult to understand ,but let’s say someone was accused on a situation for being a liar by committing something illegal. Well going to prison for couple of months can make the person better by learning not to do bad things.
No matter how someone may be living their life there will always be obstacles to face. Everyday someone may face an obstacle they come across by and figuring out how to overcome something. Wheather it is a work related obstacle or a school obstacle there are many possibilites and opportunities to over come these series obstacles. Malcolm X wasn't an ordinary inmate in a prison. From being in a prison he was trying to become an educated man.
It can turn a person 's whole world upside down. Throw them into a dark place leaving them with no hope and a since of helplessness. They believe they will never get better. They become insecure about themselves and even dislike themselves. It takes the joy right out of experiencing the world.
In life, adversity can be a positive or negative, but by definition, adversity means hardship or struggle. Everyone has faced adversity at one point or another, good or bad. Through American history and still today, everyone has faced adversity. Certain groups of people have faced more adversity than others because they have been oppressed due to race and religion, among other things. Adversity breaks one down until they can be broken no more, and although adversity has a negative connotation, overcoming adversity can make one stronger, turning it into a positive.
“What doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger.” - Friedrich Nietzsche. Is that true? Does adversity really change people for the better? Going through tough situations can give individuals a new kind of strength, emotional strength, which lends them a chance to grow and mature.
At least once in everyone’s life they experience adversity. Many of these experiences may feel impossible in the moment, but after reading two books based on true stories, I have discovered that most things are possible to overcome. This is very important because if you can’t overcome adversity in life, it is not going to go very well for you. At the moment you may not realize the importance or solution to overcoming the adversity, but eventually you’ll find a way. Adversity is found in the book “Shipwreck at the Bottom of the World.”
