The lyrics of “Over the Rainbow”, composed by Harold Arlen and Yip Harburg, is in some ways an “Odyssey”, or a long and wandering voyage. The first lyric that shows traits of an Odyssey, was in the first line. Arlen and Harburg wrote,” Somewhere over the rainbow, Way up high, There’s a land that I heard of, Once in a lullaby.” (Citation). This is like an Odyssey, because it takes you away from the land that you are used to. Additionally, the song portrays itself as an Odyssey when it talks about dreams. It reads,” And the dreams that you dare to dream, Really do come true.”(Citation). This again is an example of an Odyssey, because Dorothy dreams of getting away from her family, and going to a better land, like the land of Oz. The last way
