Oskar Schindler was one of the greatest heroes during the Holocaust. He was born on April 28, 1908, in Svitavy, Moravia. Schindler was a German industrialist who ended up saving the lives of over 1,200 Jews during World War II. Schindler grew up in a Catholic family and attended German schools which he studied engineering at. Growing up he worked various jobs before starting his own enamelware company in Krakow, Poland which was occupied by Nazis at the time.
During the Holocaust, Schindler employed Jewish people in his factory and protected them from the Nazis by claiming that they were essential workers. He spent his own money to bribe officials and keep his Jewish workers safe, he even risked his own life to protect them. Schindler's factory became a safe place for Jews during WW2 and Schindler would use his influence to ensure that they were all treated fairly and given proper food and medical care during the holocaust.

Schindler convinced the Nazis to allow him to transfer his Jewish workers to his new factory in Czechoslovakia, which was outside the reach of the Nazis. Schindler spent all his money bribing Nazi officials and purchasing food and supplies for his workers. He even went as far as to employ his worker’s children in his factory, which also saved their lives.
After the war, Schindler lived the rest of his life in relative obscurity and lived off money that his jewish friends and the people he saved during the war donated to him. In 1982 his story was brought to light when Thomas Keneally wrote the book “Schindler's Ark”. Steven Spielberg later adapted the book into a movie named “Schindler’s List”, it went on to win 7 Oscars and is considered one of the best movies of all time. I think Oskar Schindler should receive the Medal of Honor. After the anti semitism began, Jews were cheaper to employ which meant companies could save money by hiring Jews. Schindler started off hiring Jews to save money, but after Jews started being sent away to concentration camps he felt the needed to help
Schindler’s List is a movie where a German industrialist saved more than a thousand Jewish refugees from the Holocaust. Sadly, there were still over 6 million Jews that died. Similar to Schindler’s List, Elie Wiesel was one of the few Jewish people who survived the concentration camps. He was starved, beaten, and stripped of his dignity like many others. In his story, he talks about things we would rather forget because we are ashamed of the things we have done in the past.
In 1933, Poland had the largest Jewish population in Europe, numbering over three million. By the end of the holocaust in 1945, the Jewish population of Poland was reduced to about 45,000. Oskar Schindler saved about 1,200 Jews. Most of the Jewish survivors of the holocaust had a positive attitude during their ordeal, in particular Leon/Leib Leyson (one of the 1,200 Jews Oskar Schindler saved during the holocaust) was very selfless and had a very positive outlook towards life in general even during his hardships of the holocaust. He showed this when he saved an old woman 's life by taking her to the infirmary and stayed past his curfew.
The Nazis would treat them horrible they also lived in horrible conditions. Him and the other men and children there would only get a little portion of foods. Many of them would starve and some would share between them some food they would save. Elie Wiesel and two of his older sisters survived the holocaust as well. As Hitler wanted to “Germanize” or ‘Aryanize'' Germany, many Jewish-owned businesses were being sold. Oskar Schindler took advantage of this. He renamed the enamelware manufacturer Deutsche Emalwarenfabrik Oskar Schindler, also known as Emalia. Here, he only employed Jewish workers with the ability to escape the brutality and death other camps faced. He provided aid and sleeping arrangements at Emalia as well.
Without Oskar Schindeler the Lejzon family would most likely not have survived the Holocaust. Even though Oskar Schindeler was a Nazi he had a sense in humanity and he gave a family a chance to survive and while doing that he proved himself to be a true
Oskar Shindler’s Factory The Holocaust is a dark period of time in history that symbolized more than just death and warfare. Schindler is exceptionally selfish when he starts his business in Krakow. He is very dependent on Itzhak Stern’s accountant work for the business. Stern is accidently put on a train to Auschwitz and Schindler goes to save him. Schindler is so selfish that he says to Stern when he saves him, “Where would I be”, meaning that Schindler would have been nothing without Stern’s help. When saying that, Schindler goes without thinking about how Stern’s life
Even though Schindler didn’t save as many as Sendler, his ability to save Jews was more restricted by how he was utilizing his factories to save them. Schindler would go to many great lengths to keep the Jews safe, even though his actions were deemed illegal at the
