Another positive leadership trait that Odysseus showed was at the danger strait. He knew that there were two options and he didn’t tell the crew the options. One option was to try to get past the whirlpool and if they didn’t make it they would all die. The other option was to face the six-headed monster and only have six people die. He was extremely smart by not telling his crew because they would probably have drifted towards the whirlpool and all died instead of just six people dying.

The two stories share a few things in common, one being that the main character is depicted as a great leader. While both men are leaders, Odysseus is smarter, stronger, and undeniably better than Everett in most realms of human endeavor.

A good leader would have taken his men’s concerns into consideration. Odysseus is quick to decide that they should stay even if it meant potential danger. His quick and impractical decision eventually led to death among his men. This shows that he prioritizes himself over his men and is clearly selfish, a quality good leaders should not have.
