Nurses can promote mindfulness in the healthcare setting through interpersonal communication. By employing our active listening skills when we are communicating with our colleagues and patients, we show that we are physically and mentally present for them. We express caring and compassion by conveying that we genuinely care about what they have to say. This then helps build mutual trust and respect within the team. Social awareness is also another way to display mindfulness in the workplace. Being socially aware involves displaying empathy and taking the perspective of others.
