Circumcision Versus No Circumcision There are many things that parents need to be educated on when having a baby boy, one being a circumcision. One of the biggest controversies pertaining to a newborn baby boy is a circumcision, and whether this surgical procedure should be performed. The Urology Care Foundation notes, “A circumcision is cutting away the skin ("foreskin") that covers the tip of a baby's penis.” There are many new parents who don’t think about something like this, because of the excitement of a new baby and others who don’t think about it due to religion. Nurses play a big role to patients who have just given birth to baby. The nurse’s job is to educate and care for patients who are parents, or parents to be. This paper will be based on the controversy of circumcising a newborn baby boy versus not doing a circumcision.
Positions and Arguments There are many positions and arguments on circumcising a newborn because there are many positives and

The positives of a circumcision are decreasing risks for urinary tract infections and it can also be healthier in the future, depending on the cleanliness of the person. Milos, M. F., RN, & Macris, D., CNM, MSN notes “removing the foreskin of male newborns could prevent diseases, such as foreskin inflammation, urinary tract infections, and sexually transmitted diseases.” These are some positive effects of doing circumcision. There are also negative effects of doing a circumcision as well. Krill, A. J., Palmer, L. S., & Palmer, J. S notes, “Early complications such as: bleeding, pain, inadequate skin removal, and surgical site infection tend to be minor and quite treatable.” There are also late signs such as cysts, regrowth of the skin, adhesions, penial reconstruction, and metritis per Krill, A. J., Palmer, L. S., & Palmer, J. S. These are just some of the negatives that come along with
The practice, according to Ahmed, was not generally observed in her society and was seen by women who practiced Islam as a cultural tradition that was not mandated by the religion. Instead of being a religious requirement, circumcision was viewed as a cultural rite of passage for women. In contrast, male Islam routinely performed female circumcision and considered it as a religious need. Men felt that female circumcision was required to preserve a woman's chastity and purity and to keep her from having sex before marriage. Ahmed claims that female circumcision is not an essential Islamic ritual because of the harm it might cause and because of her own experience with it.
The Right to Abortion On January 22, 1973, in a 7-2 ruling, the U.S. Supreme Court handed down it’s landmark decision in the case of Roe v. Wade, which recognized that the constitutional right to privacy extends to a woman’s right to make her own personal medical decisions — including the decision to have an abortion without interference from politicians (Planned Parenthood). There are many moments in history when Roe v. Wade has been so close to being overturned, yet it is still in place. Abortion should stay legal, or not overturned, for the health of women everywhere. First, this important case took place at the time of abortion being illegal in most states, including Texas, where Roe v. Wade began.
Abortion has been performed for a long time. It was legal in the United States from the beginning it was created/founded. “At the time the Constitution was adopted, abortions were openly advertised and commonly performed. ”(History of Abortion) But in the mid-to-late 1800s some states began passing laws that made abortion illegal.
I work at Sonora Regional Medical Center and this week, I have been working at a pediatric clinic and I have learned certain things about circumcisions and when it should be performed on a baby boy. A circumcision is the surgical removal of the foreskin and, on infants, it is performed within the first few day after birth. It has been found by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), that the benefits of a circumcisions in newborns, outweigh the risks of it, but when the boys age more, it does not necessarily need to be done unless there is a medical reason to do so. There are many benefits to a circumcision including a reduced risk of urinary tract infections, a reduced risk of sexually transmitted diseases in men, reduced risk of penile
With almost half the nation divided among their views, abortion remains one of the most controversial topics in our society. Since Roe v. Wade, our views in society as well as following court cases have been progressing toward the woman’s right to choose. The precedent set by Roe v. Wade made the Supreme Court acknowledge that it cannot rule specifically when life begins and it also affirms that it is the woman’s right to have an abortion under the 14th Amendment. In the 1st Amendment, the Establishment Clause forbids the government from passing laws “which aid one religion, aid all religions, or prefer one religion over another”. Many Christian pro-lifers use their religious beliefs to dispute when life begins.
During the twentieth- century, lobotomy became a popular procedure performed on patients with neurosis such as schizophrenia, bi-polar mood disorder, personality disorder, etc. Many scientists, especially at the time, argued that poking holes through parts of the brain and swishing parts around helps make patients more calm and cooperative. I predict that lobotomy had no benefits for the patient but rather in a dissociative state to appear calm. By understanding the history of lobotomy, patients' experience and stories, and alternatives we can grasp a better view in how lobotomy was unethical and ineffective. Lobotomy has evolved from various techniques, patients, countries, and psychosurgeons.
Doris Gudino Professor Chounlamountry Political Science 1 27 July 2015 Pro-Choice Anyone? A woman has, undoubtedly, the freedom to procreate, but once a woman chooses to retreat from that freedom, a commotion arises. Abortion is a woman’s choice for many reasons. It’s her body, therefore, no one else can decide for said person.
Abortion Abortion is the ending of pregnancy by abolishing a fetus or embryo before it can survive outside the uterus. Abortion is a very controversial topic, for example, one side of this topic believes abortion is cruel and committing murder, while the other side believes that since the fetus or embryo isn 't developed enough to be considered a living human being yet, that abortion is not commiting murder. Despite this information, there is a lot more to abortion than the opinion of it being “right” or “wrong”. According to “Students for life” who are pro life, about 1 million abortions are executed each year in the US. That data adds up to 22% of pregnancies ending in abortion.
One of the furthermost essential issues in biomedical ethics is the controversy around abortion. There’s a long history on this controversy and it is still critically debated among researchers and the public in both terms of morality and legality. Some of the basic questions argued that may perhaps characterize the importance of the issue: Is abortion morally justifiable? Does the foetus/embryo/zygote have any moral and legal rights? Is the foetus a human being and, if so, should it be protected?
The few personal stories from the women who experienced circumcision offer powerful additions to the horrifying nature of genital mutilation and how the poorly done operation forever ruins the women’s hygiene and health. The result of Soraya Mire’s choice to only showcase the graphic parts of female circumcision takes away the cultural meaning and importance of the practice. Soraya Mire’s strong opinion on female circumcision relates closely with the Western approach to viewing external cultures and disagreeing with practices that
The debate on abortion deals with the rights and wrongs of ending a pregnancy before normal childbirth, thus killing the infant in the process. Abortion is a very painful topic for women and men who find themselves facing the moral dilemma of whether or not to have a baby. It 's one of the biggest arguments, because most people are on one side or the other, very few are Undecided in the U.S today. Abortion has a long history. In the past, it was done using crude tools such as sharpened tools, physical trauma and other traditional methods.
There are many stories about de-transitioning, and they are typically not written by people who are against the transgender movement. They are written by people who realize transition isn’t what they needed after all. They are written by people who urge caution. This is the necessity of a certification from a duly licensed practitioner A true transgender person who truly has Gender Dysphoria will stand by his or her decision to become the preferred gender.

Abortion is probably one of the biggest debates to date in the United State. The article was a pro-abortion article, and gave examples as to why it is a women’s right to choose. It was written by a doctor who shares the opinion that abortion is okay. There may be a time where it is necessary for a woman to have the choice to have an abortion or not. Those choices could include rape, or if the pregnancy will cause serious health issues to the mother.
The arrival of a new baby, especially the first always marks a new beginning for a mother. It comes with a lot of challenges more so if the mother is less knowledgeable about baby care. Take such as cleaning the baby for the first time, or feeding, it is not easy. The baby is still fragile and slippery and needs a special care. But if the mother is not ready for all these, or maybe, does not have any knowledge on what to do, the baby’s life might be endangered since the baby needs a special care which only the mother can give.
