The book Night is about a twelve-year-old boy that grew up in Transylvania which is a small town. Elie studied Talmud but he wanted to learn Kabbalah. His father found out that the Nazi got control over Hungary. The Nazi’s started to evacuate the Jews out of Transylvania, and started loading them all into the cattle cars.

Have you heard of the Holocaust? Have you ever wanted to learn what they experienced from a true story? Well Night by Elie Wiesel might be a good book for you. As I said, it is based story and it will follow Elie's journey from spending time with his family to getting moved to a concentration camp. Elie and his father must face brutal beatings and harsh selections throughout the book, and it will only get worse for the both of them.

The book Night is a autobiography told from Elie Wiesal’s perspective. It talks about his experience with his father in the Nazi German concentration camps at Auschwitz and Buchenwald in 1944-45. Wiesel writes about how his faith is degrading to the point he believes there is no God, and how he is disgusted at humanity. The book starts in Sighet, Romania, You learn about Moshe the Beadle who is a poor man, but very religious. He was expelled like the rest of the Jews onto a cattle train and taken to Poland.

Night by Elie Wiesel is an autobiography about Elie during the time of the Jewish Holocaust. In the beginning of the book, Elie lives a normal life with his parents and three sisters until something horrid supposedly happens to a poor fellow in town. He is taken out of Sighet by the Hungarian police, shot, and left for dead. He escapes and tells everyone of what horrible events he witnessed, but people are skeptical on believing him. All of the sudden they are taken by gestapo to many concentration camps.

Just imagine that you lost everything in just one night. You had to give everything up, leaving all your belongings behind and even your house. Who knows for how many years when all of them will be back, if some of them do back it. Maybe one day they would be reunited with all their family ,their house and all your belongings. In the book Night, the main character is Elie Wiesel and in Between Shades of Gray the main character is Lina.

Both characters were brave, determined, loyal Night and Maus are different because Eli was with his father in concentration camp, Maus wasn’t with his father in the concentration camp, they are similar because they both got put into concentration camp and They both survived the concentration camp. Summary of Maus Maus arrives at his father's home to record his father's memories of the Holocaust. Then his father get put in a concentration camp and he tries to survive in the concentration camp. On pg 80 Maus father shows being brave when he had to pass near and grab Jews.

“I no longer accepted God’s silence. As I swallowed my ration of soup, I turned that act into a symbol of rebellion, of protest against Him.” (Page 69) This means that Elie is irritated of God not doing anything

In chapters 4 to 6 in the novel, “Night”, Elie Wiesel and his father continue to suffer in the grasp of the Germans. Eventually, all the Jews are moved to a new work camp, Buna, where they are overworked and undernourished, and resort to killing each other for pieces of bread. In his old home, Elie had never experienced brutality and inhumanity within it. Now, Elie and other Jews witness extreme violence and an absence of mercy that begins to erode their mental state; bringing most men to animalistic tendencies. In chapter 4, the Jews arrive in Buna.

Life is full of good and bad experiences, but you don’t always have control of what happens. That can be scary sometimes and it depends on how you handle it as to whether you get out of that situation. In the memoir Night written by Elie Wiesel, Eli, a teenager had been taken away from his home and taken to the Auschwitz concentration camp. Night is the scary record of Elie Wiesel’s memories of the death of his own family and the death of his own innocence as he tries to fight his way out of the concentration camp. Over the course of the book, Eli changes from a believer in God living in bearable conditions to someone who has become profane because of the situation he’s been put in.

One that is already believing cannot simply stop believing in something like that. But one can change is opinion on and view on Elie’s faith was tested many times in Night. There was many a time where he questioned god and his belief in him. After going through so much he eventually lost his faith. Elie has gone through so much that his faith or even his will to live and survive after his father died are all gone.

I concurred with a job. I was not denying his existence, but I doubted his absolute justice.” Elie is not denying the fact that God doesn’t exist, but little by little he’s getting separated farther from him. In conclusion Elie’s faith towards God does shift around throughout the story.

Belief and Faith is a “double-edged sword” to the jews, it cuts both ways. It keeps them alive, and at the same time makes them oblivious, and leads to their suffering. Over time, Elie’s belief in god, diminishes and eventually he questions God’s existence extensively and at point, Elie is infuriated that even though they are being tormented and enslaved, the Jews will still pray to god, and thank him, “If god did exist, why would he let u go through all the pain and suffering (33). This is a major point in the ongoing theme of faith and belief, because for once he is infuriated with the thought of religion in a time of suffering. Throughout the book, with the nazis ultimate goal is to break the jews and make dehumanize them and if anything, their goal is take and diminish their belief.

Others remain faithful and retain the hope that He is on their side, explaining these happenstances as an example of God’s mysterious ways. While this may as well be the case, Elie stops praying, believing that he has been abandoned. He finds no hope of redemption in the Talmud like

The Holocaust memoir Night does a phenomenal job of portraying possibly the most horrifying outcomes in such a situation. Through subtle and effective language, Wiesel is able to put into words the fearsome experiences he and his father went through in Auschwitz during the Holocaust. In his holocaust memoir, Night, Elie Wiesel utilizes imagery to show the effect that self-preservation can have on father son relationships.
