The twenty-first century saw the rapid rise of technology, internet access, and usage on social media platforms, introducing a new era of communication and interaction within a digital space. In February of 2010 approximately 4000 students between the ages of 10 and 18 were surveyed on their perception of the bullying issue. Survey results showed that students felt the most hurtful means of bullying resulted in rumors and hurtful comments posted via Facebook, text messages and other means of social media.
