The Influence of the Medici
When describing the Renaissance the first elements that come to mind is the rebirth of art. While art is one of the main things that took a new form there was also a restructuring in economics, education, and a change with those in political positions. There has always been a family in power throughout all of history, and while those families in power did have certain control over some of the areas around them. There was no family that was ever in such full control like the Medici family. The Medici family is known as the “Godfathers of the Renaissance”. They are not only responsible for being patrons to some of the greatest innovators of their time but also changing the way life was done around them. The influence of the Medici family throughout the Renaissance period is an example of the common themes theory as the family helped with new economic development through their patronage in the arts and education. At the start of the Renaissance there was not a unit of power that truly took control of the city of Florence, until the Medici came into power. There was only religious control telling the people what they could and could not do and even those in charge of religious positions fell to corruption. People were unable to make decisions with out fear that they will be killed or persecuted for those actions. The Renaissance began in Italy in the 1300s, throughout much of Europe during the next three hundred years. The author’s purpose is to inform and entertain the reader about the amazing accomplishments that many people achieved during this period of time. He is not refuting or showing the reader a specific viewpoint, but he produces a straightforward factual explanation about the past.
The Renaissance forever changed people 's view on life. Much of what we believe in today was from the impact of the Renaissance. The Renaissance completely changed how we looked at life. If it wasn 't for the Renaissance, we may not know as much as we do today.

More and more ideas of the ideal prince emerged, as there are many different city-states. One of the most noteworthy political philosophers of the sixteenth century was Niccólo Machiavelli whose book, The Prince, a political handbook for rulers, has brought him recognition. It can be seen that his ideas on politics and overall inspiration for the book mainly came from his views of the political problems that were taking place.
Between the 14th and 16th century, Italy went through what they termed as Renaissance which was characterized by several changes in the country. As described in Italy, Renaissance means rebirth or rebuilding of a given societal role. The transition of the country came from the medieval to the early European period where different normal operations of the society were greatly altered. Before the rebirth process began, the Italians had the desire to rebuild some of their greatest being thus the creation of the Renaissance process. Well I’m glad you asked, the Renaissance was technically a ‘’rebirth’’ or ‘’revival’’ of art and literature, as some people would describe it as, and it had started in Europe around the year of 1400 and had lasted until about the 1700s. The Renaissance was a time of intellectual excitement, when art and literature blossomed and groundbreaking scientific advances were being made. During this period of time large parts of scientific and cultural advances were beginning to develop, and people were beginning to see themselves in a new way. The Renaissance changed man’s view of man in at least four areas: Art, Astronomy, Literature, and last but not least Human Anatomy.

The Renaissance era was noted to be an era of discoveries, wealth and great fortune. Most of Italy’s cities became wealthy through trade accessed through waterways around the country. The wealth of these merchants clearly influenced as well as supported new artist, writers, and philosophers. Among these wealthy merchant families was the Medici Family, whose wealth was in banking. During the early period of Renaissance Era the Medici Family’s wealth/contributions and support establish them as one of the most influential patrons of the arts/literature and intellectual learning.

Catherine de Medici was a powerful woman in the Renaissance era. Perhaps one of the most powerful regents to date. She tore through France in the 1500’s and left a direct effect on the men and women around her. Catherine went against the known system by vicariously ruling through King Henry II . Catherine de Medici was significant to history because she ruled France as a powerful regent for nearly thirty years, she was partly responsible for the horrors of the French wars of Religion, and she was a very profitable patron.
The Renaissance is commonly known as a period of rebirth. New ways of thinking and acting were rapidly evolving. It was a time of great challenges and discoveries for the individual. People could share ideas, objects, and skills in so many ways that changed the whole outlook of humanity. For a while, the church told the people what they wanted them to believe.
They made immense contributions to the arts in the Renaissance by generously supporting artists to get their careers a kickstart, some of these artists include, Michelangelo, Leonardo Da Vinci, and also famous writers such as Niccolo Machiavelli known for his book “The Prince” that had a different outlook on authority but also they payed for the building of many different cathedrals and churches, and of course helped a lot with education by building schools
