Snowboarding, one of the hardest snowsport to learn but easy to master. It 's also one of the most enjoyable snowsport on the planet. Even though it’s fun, you can really injure yourself if you 're not careful. In this narrative you’ll witness the pain I had to go through trying to learn snowboarding, but also witness me mastering this incredible sport.
It was a cool afternoon in the frosty month of January, the time was around 5:30 pm and my dad just dropped me off at the Snow Valley hill in his black Mitsubishi Lancer. I took my blueish green Burton Custom snowboard from the back of the car, grabbed my helmet, gloves, jacket and snowpants and went to the bottom of the hill. There, I placed my board on the soft snow and put on my

Yeah, that’s how much snow was on me! I tried doing toe edge for the remainder of the run, and at the last second before our first run was over, I finally went on my toe edge. You couldn’t believe the joy and excitement I was feeling. Max came up to me and gave me a high five and we proceeded to the chair lift again. While we were on the chair, Max said “aight Virun now you can do toe edge, try doing it on the steep hill”, I replied with a nod. We quickly got off the chair, put on our bindings and went to a steeper route. I went down the hill first and reluctantly, I switched between my toe and heel edge like I was a pro! While I was going down the hill I could hear the wind whistling against my helmet and sound of my board carving on the snow. I was so hyped that I finally learned Snowboarding. After all those years only going on small hills on my heel edge, I finally was doing toe edge. We went up the hill for a couple of more runs, and just like you already know we got on the chairlift and put on our bindings once we got off. We went all the way to the right side of the hill and carved down the soft snow. While I was going down, my board hit a small ice ball and my board caught an edge and I landed hard on my butt.
Helmets Required for Skiing and Snowboarding Requiring people to wear helmets at all times on the slopes regardless of age benefits enthusiasts and children. Helmets reduce injury by 35% (Picard 1). In a study by the Canadian Medical Association, 46,564 snowboarders and skiers from three continents sustained an injury to the neck or head that was serious enough for first aid and medical attention from a hospital or ski patrol (Picard 1). One in five of the people in the study were wearing helmets (Picard 1).
Also, I almost got hit and buried by snow bricks that were as hard as rocks. After this outing, I finally got the idea of why people learn by making mistakes because mistakes allow us to remember what is right and what is wrong. At first, I entered the car that I was assigned to. Our car was so crowded that I can barely stretch my legs. The two other scouts told me that they wore nothing inside their snow pants except their boxers.
Every year, my family goes on a snowmobile trip with my friend Aftyn’s family in Spearfish, South Dakota. About two years ago, we drove out for our trip as usual. The first day was super fun. We stopped at Four Corners, a fun hill to climb, and we did lots of racing. The second day was a little more eventful.
You 'll see so many different things. “ says Maggie Voisin, anther Olympic snowboarder. Overall the slopestyle course is pretty glamorous. (“Breaking down the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Slopestyle
I automatically halted to a stop and run into the green mat that softens my landing. I am filled with adrenaline. There is nothing like zip lining across Deck
When we get there it looked a lot of fun. On the first day of attempting to snowboard, I could barely make it down the mini pipe. It
After about seven minutes, I wiped out, which again, felt like jumping off a bus. I decided that it was awesome and I would definitely try again. After we did this a couple more times they took us back to our camp site. One of our leaders said we could go out and do slalom skiing while he and one other kid packed up the camp site.
And I was not driving at the time so I was just sitting in the car while the boys pushed the car. I did drive in snow and that was fun and you can proudly call me a good driver now! (Long distance and snow). And of course, I always have the seat belt on
Each year, more and more Americans are injured participating in winter sports. Snowboarding equipment and training programs have improved since 2000 making the sport safer than other winter sports. Snowboarding is safer than skiing because when a person falls on a snowboard their speed gets reduced drastically and it is easier to control themselves. When a person fall on skis, it is harder to stay in control. While snowboarding is safer than other winter sports, it is still crucial to follow these safety tips such as always having the right equipment and knowing the person’s limits.

The first run wasn 't very rough since it was everyone didn 't know everything that they could do. By the second trip down the hill everyone started going as fast as possible for a more fun experience, but when the people in front of us began to stop on their brakes and go as slow as possible things started to get out of hand. The third trip down the hill ended in a visit to the emergency room, starting with me going down first then trying to stop i hit the unknown girl in front of me. Next my idiotic brother slammed in
I’m laying on the ground my ears are ringing as I slowly get to my feet I notice a sharp pain in my left arm. This whole idea was put in my head about a month before. Recently, at 5:30 I am sitting under a pavilion listening to the rock and roll music blasting in the background while eating a bagel I 'm not saying much I am looking back at the my first year of riding and wonder how i got to wear i am today, awaiting the start of my first 100 mile mtb race, i recognize how breaking my arm was instrumental to my success as a mountain biker.
We brought helmets and bikes with us. We initially thought that we would be able to bike a decent part of the mountain because of our cross country biking background and experience. We were wrong,
I’m on a mountain, I just overcame my first obstacle the chair lift. Which I thought would be harder than it was I miraculously didn’t fall or knock over the other skiers/snowboarders. I glanced back up at the gleaming mountain becoming easily distracted by the flawless stroke of every turn as the pros make their way down. I say quietly to myself “Isn’t this suppose to be a beginners hill?” They have gopros strapped to their helmets and are racing each other down.
The day I had been waiting for for so long had finally arrived; the first day of the high school lacrosse season was finally here. That day was the day I needed to prove to my coaches that I deserved to be on the varsity team after not making it at tryouts. That day was a scrimmage at High Velocity, we were scheduled to play four games all in one day, against Saline, Okemos, Brighton, and Belleville. I woke up that day excited, I couldn’t wait to actually be playing lacrosse again. My breakfast was the same as any other morning, a bowl of cereal and some yogurt.
