My Writing Goals

Throughout the college writing course, there were four major projects to focus on. These include an annotated bibliography, research argument, collaborative letter and presentation, and reflective portfolio. My writing goals for the course consisted of starting early on assignments and using stronger word choices. These goals relate to being a business major because there will be projects and papers that I will need to spend a good chunk of time on. Starting early on these as well as using strong words will hopefully allow me to succeed. These goals and the projects will help me throughout my academic career and after by allowing me to succeed ahead of schedule and avoid procrastination. Some examples of my future audience may include my classmates, business professors, small groups as well as future managers. An example of an instance where I showed improvement was during the collaborative letter presentation. Generally, I am nervous when presenting in front of my peers, but before presenting I practiced my slides and made sure I knew what to say. This ensured that I was well prepared and was shown on a professional level. Based on my future topic, I will have to decide what information is going into my work, to allow my audience to be interested in what I have to say. To cater to my audience, I will need to be observant as to what may grab their attention. For example, if I had a younger audience, I may use lots of pictures and few words. If my audience was a professor and a class, I may use slides that are descriptive and to the point. Some tones that will need to be thought of while completing my work include formal, informal, and sincere. These tones can be used while presenting a topic, talking amongst coworkers, or consulting clients. After graduating college and getting a job I will oversee clients, meaning that my duty to them is to provide a respectful, professional environment so that both parties feel comfortable. Having to complete these four major writing projects, will help me to succeed when writing future coursework as well as using my learning outcomes and goals to adapt to difficult
