My parents first started off with nothing when they entered the United States from Mexico. My parents did not get far in their education due to problems in their family needing the extra help. They had to work even harder, especially my dad, when they had me to buy a home to live in. They were new to parenthood, new to living on their own, did not speak English that well, and did not have much at the beginning. They worked hard to get where we are at to this very day, they had great discipline, and great work ethic to give me and my family a comfortable living, one they were not able to have as children. I have been taught to be disciplined by my parents to have a great work ethic to be able to achieve anything desire. And that is what sets me apart …show more content…
I have bible study, soccer practice, church, and work as well. These interests, activities, jobs, and groups have interfered school work at many points. All this has not set me back to missing assignments or to having failing grades. I did not make any excuses to get my work done or to study for tests. I had a fixed schedule to get all my work done on time or before time. I work hard to be able to finish things on time or early. I never let my priorities interfere with each other to the point where I cannot do anything. I have to study for tests, but I also have to study for my bible studies teaching. I have to read many things as part as homework and I also have to read my bible. I have services on Fridays and Sundays and I still work hard to get school related work done on time. I try my hardest not to make any excuses not to finish work, although, there are times when I put work off at times, however, it is not done late it is just finished on another day. That does not mean I am lazy and put off work for other times, nonetheless it shows that every student needs a break at times. Because of my work ethic I have to finish my work no matter
My mom came to the United States with no money to her name. She came here in search for a better life. No one helped her, she did it all on her own. Not speaking the language or being educated it wasn 't easy raising a child in a place which is so unknown to you
On those days at school I know that I have to get most of my homework done there because I know that I won’t have enough time when I get home from school to do it before I leave for practice. Also time management has helped me with school work in general. During study hall I know what work I have to do and how much time I need to spend on it so I know that I’ll also have time to do my other work that I may have to do that day.
Being a child of immigrant parents has taught me so much. For example, being able to work hard for what you want. At school, I always strive to get A’s. My parent’s have taught me to never settle for anything less than a B. They know that in order for me to go to college and be successful, I not only have to get good grades but work hard to get there.
At home procrastination is the leading struggle I have academically. I am Auttiana Rackley and I attend Akron Early College High School. Being here, it feels like neverending homework. During my classes, I am very focused and I complete school work with no complaints. When study hauls is in action, I use ALL of my time wisely.
I have no family in America. Everyone who is biologically related to me lives in Bangladesh. Even the people who I call my family, aren’t. We are not related by blood, but rather, we are tied by our collective loneliness in this country. I think they’re what family feels like— although I suppose I wouldn 't know.
Throughout high school, I have not missed many days even when I am sick because I follow through with my commitment of being a student and am liable for getting my work done and being on time. Positive behavior should always be demonstrated wherever
My grades slowly dropped because I didn’t have time to do any schoolwork and I would miss out on lessons because I would sleep in class. I knew that I couldn’t blow off my schoolwork, so instead of staying out late I would stay in school to finish any work that I had left.
My father is also an immigrant, arriving all the way from Sri Lanka at age 22 with his best friend. They came here to escape hardship in their country in order to experience the American dream. He worked hard all his life just like my mother, holding a physical demanding job at a shipyard for over 20 years. While they are now divorce but they still both mutually putting me as the first in their priority. They make sure that I have my basic needs met and also keeping me happy and content with life.
National Honor society was established to recognize outstanding high school students. National Honor society recognizes students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of academic success, leadership, character and service. I should be in National Honor Society because I think I represent a lot of the qualities needed to be in this organization. Throughout my years in high school, I have been very involved in the band program here at Langham Creek. As a freshman, I started out in Concert 2 band.
Beowulf was a perfectionist. He carried out his plans of killing the monsters meticulously, that way ensuring he actually defeated them. Just like Beowulf, I have to ensure I complete all my endeavors perfectly. This practice often leads me towards stress, frustration, and poor time management when it comes to schoolwork. In the past three years of high school, this problem has impeded me from finishing essays, homework and other activities not related to school such as decorating my room.
First generation immigrants sacrifice their adulthood in search of a better life for their family and for future generations to come. My father came from Peru to support his family. He was the first person in his family to come to America. He works in road construction from morning until night so that my family is supported. The desire to repay both of my parents is the belief that guides my life.
Coming from a low income family, living in a small town in India, I learned early on about struggling and surviving those struggles. I watched my parents working day and night to provide for electricity, pay for our monthly school fees so my sister and I can have a better education, and for the future they wished upon for their children. To further enhance this vision, my father decided for the family and I to immigrate to the US. Everything was different in the sense that I changed schools, learned a new language, had to make new friends, and learned the different culture. I had to adapt to a whole new world, which was a little difficult at 6 years old
I was born to juggle…literally and figuratively. I have mastered the many responsibilities and activities that would become my daily routine over the past 17 years. In addition to “American” school, there was Greek School, G.O.Y.A, soccer, volunteering, chores, family time and more. I can’t sit still. It’s not in me to not do well, participate or give back.
I had people who looked up to me. It meant so much to me that some of my peers saw me as an inspiration. I distinguished myself the most
No matter what the circumstances were my parents worked wherever for however long to give us the life we deserved. When my siblings and I were little, my mom would stay home and take care of us and my dad worked two jobs. My mom always told me that my dad would never complain about working, just as long as he could afford to keep a roof over our head and food on the table, he was happy. My father would even come home late nights play with us and I loved every moment of it. As my siblings and I got older my mom went back into the workforce and just like my dad would work as long as she could every day.
