Final Exam Essay During my college writing life, I have taken many writing classes. From these classes, I have learned a lot and gaining a lot as well. Therefore, I believe that benefited from studying writing from college level. First, studying writing from college could expand our knowledge. The purpose of learning to write at university is not only to apply to the class, but also to apply it to future life. For example, after graduate, you have to write your resume to find a job. Before you see your boss, the only impression for you is your resume. Therefore, why not give your boss a better resume? A well-organized and smoothly language resume could give your boss a good impression. I think learning writing from college could my essay become more critical and smoothly. Ultimately, studying writing can expand our knowledge, could continuous self-improvement and make my writing skill become better and useful in my future life. During my college life, my writing skill has improved a lot and not be afraid to write. I would likely to share my opinions in my essay, and that is worthy to my university life, my thinking become more critical, my thinking become more widely and deeply. 250200 - Course Journal Evaluation Unit 1: Introduction to Composition, Entries 1-6 June 30, 2017, ENTRY 1: Me, a Writer, Attitude: My position about writing is that I dislike the exercise, I know this course will help me appreciate the writing. The main problem I have is putting my ideas in writing. I am sure this course will help me to be able to state my ideas, then improving my writing skills, it is important to me to write my ideas clearly. The support of my family encourages me to continue to practice writing.
As a student, I have grown in my skills for academic success by having to write an essay in my Honors English class. We’ve recently finished reading the novel The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, and were told to write an essay about one of the given prompts. Before having to write this essay, I was struggling with the type of vocabulary and perspective, which was third-person, I was supposed to use. I had to find the right quotes from the book and explain in detail how they support the prompt, I felt that was the hardest for me. The words “I” or “me” weren’t allowed in the essay, unless they were in quotes.
I came into my first college writing class feeling prepared thanks to you and your investment in me as a student in your AP Lang class. I developed as a writer more than I ever had in your class, and it definitely helped me in my college writing class this semester. I already knew how important it was to revise and continuously critically think about my writing, as well as the importance of multiple drafts and peer review. My English 110 class this semester was very similar to yours because we also did multiple drafts where I could revise my paper as many times as needed. The big difference was that the focus was on different genres and how to appeal to those, which was something new compared to my high school English courses.
Transitioning from high school to college can be overwhelming. Before English 1301, I did not worry about preparing for college. I quickly realized that my little background in writing essays was not enough for college courses. Writing is not just a skill that I will need for English classes. In college, I will have to use effective writing skills in all my classes to complete research papers, essay tests and communicate with professors.
Tawney Nodland – As I look back over the past semester of English Composition, I realize that I have grown as a writer. Not onlyhas my understanding of the writing process changed, my whole attitude towards composition has too. This composition course has made a significant impact on my learning experience and has given me tools to take forward into my future educational and professional goals. Throughout this course, I have discovered things about myself as a writer and know some of my strengths and weaknesses. I now feel more prepared for future writing assignments, whether for work or for school.
In my future, I hope to continue the skills I have acquired during this English class. I think that they will be very obliging to me, nevertheless of what I am trying to achieve. In this course, I was encountered with deadlines, instructions, and assignments that I could not work around. I found that all of these responsibilities have made me comprehend that I could definitely take the next step forward in life.
Over the course of the semester, my main goal was to become a more precise writer and develop my identity as a writer. According too, the Portfolio Letter assignment sheet, becoming a better writer consists of precise planning, draft and revising. It also includes understanding a variety of academic genres by examining the basic characteristics that defines each type. In order too efficiently meet my goal of becoming a better writer, it was very important to have my work evaluated by others and myself as well. The use of rhetorical knowledge, critical thinking, reading and writing all are the important aspects in this course.
There have been arguments on whether college writing should be a mandatory class for college students. Better grammar and better communication skills are just a few reasons why college writing is an important class for students and should be made mandatory across the United States of America. In society today many people don’t see the bigger picture and they settle for “good”, but they shouldn’t only focus on how good something is but how it can be improved and made better. I believe that practicing writing forces you to always try to improve and that could potentially help our country economy and help us grow intellectually. Some student argue that college writing is very similar to high school writing and that’s why they think it is unnecessary to take a writing class in college.
Looking out the window at the rows of trees, empty fields, and dirt roads, the anxious feeling intensifies. This is how it always happens. The feeling of happiness and anticipation is almost too much to bear the week or two before, but on the way there the anxiety of the unknown lingers the whole way. There’s nothing to be worried about, everything is always great and there’s hardly ever any surprises, yet that feeling is always there. Nothing ever changes and there’s a sense of comfort in that.
My Writing Experience In previous courses, my writing skills have been mediocre or just enough to pass the class. Throughout the duration of this course, I have written a variety of papers using different techniques and skills. Previously I would write assuming that the only audience would be my instructor. This course has helped me realize that there are many steps and skills involved with writing a well-organized and easy to comprehend essay.
It is difficult to write a good essay without the proper writing skills that you need. Although everyone claims they can write a good essay, a lot of people lack the needed skills that make an essay a well written essay to grade and pass the student. The difference between professional writers and everyday student is that professional writers has writing skills that makes the essays stand out perfect. Writing can be anything you want it to be and much more, depends on your type of style and how you want it to set off to the reader. Writing takes much of your time and can be fun to do when it comes to your favorite thing that you want to talk about.
For many high school students, organization is one skill they do not possess but by requiring a communications class students will be expected to come prepared to learn new ways to thrive in the real world. From gathering information for a discussion to compiling notes for an interview, students will be expected to come as prepared as they would in a work setting improving their organizational skills. Students who have higher communications skills are often thought of to have better reading and writing skills as well because they are more trained than others to see things from different sides and analyse what they read. Writing is something that will be prominent throughout life and having a deeper understanding it will set the students above all the rest. The writing skills would improve through the writing of e-mails, resumés, and letters.
