‘My cause is just, my religion is true, only my way is right’, since the dawn of mankind’s turbulent history many wars have broken out between groups who justified the use of violence to exert their beliefs. Simply put, the root of all skirmishes and clashes is an argument, an exchange of opposite views, who is right and who is wrong. Argumentative writing is in itself a battle the writer must strongly present their belief, undermine the opposing view and persuade their opponent, the reader, that their opinion, their conviction is right.
