We heard an ominous drip, drip, and then a steady splash.” These pieces of evidence show both of the authors believe that this horrible earthquake destructed the city of San Francisco.

At the time, they did not know that it was a volcano, or that it was going to become one of the most famous eruptions in history. The author walks the reader through what probably was going on before the eruption, and also made it seem like the reader was actually part of the story. She also tells the reader some facts that a lot of people may not know, such as some information on what happened before the eruption. In the end, Mt. Vesuvius ' eruption was one of the most famous and destructive eruptions in history.
