Mama June Shannon of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo is slamming TLC for the fact that they canceled her show, but they are keeping the Duggars around. I read “Revolutionary Mothers” by Carol Perkins. Berkins tells the many different stories of women throughout the Revolutionary War and the struggles and strives each women faced and overcame. She introduces us to women from all different backgrounds and their own personal stories that have so greatly affected our history today. Throughout the book Berkins shows how large of a role women played during this time period, even though it is often overlooked. Without the courage and bravery from these women during this time period we would have not been able to secure our independence from Britain.

The playwright utilizes household rules, perseverance, and her plant to show us how strong Mama’s beliefs are. Mama’s stinginess in respect to household rules was evident when she slapped Beneatha for denouncing God. Mama demonstrates strength in her beliefs by not allowing Beneatha to impugn God in her household. Despite everything she’s been through, Mama maintains her beliefs, showing perseverance. This is evident throughout her adult life; as her dream of providing a nice life for her family never panned out.

The American Revolution was a war fought on home ground throughout the colonies that gave burdens to colonist. This war brought scarcity and danger into the lives of every American living in New England, and throughout the book Revolutionary Mothers Carol Berkin, the author, shows us that women, of all ethnicities, cultures, and classes were called upon to play more of a part in the war than just the housewives. Berkin travels back in time for this book to the Revolutionary War and explores diverse roles of these revolutionary women. What everyone else saw was how the women managed different parts of their husband’s jobs while they were out battling on the home front. "Sestina For The Working Mother" by Deborah Garrison and "After Making Love We Hear Footsteps" by Galway Kinnell were the pieces that spoke to me the most. The central theme of these pieces is parenthood. They related to me the most because I am a mother of an 11-month-old. Garrison and Kinnell provide some diverse perspectives on parenting, as there are many different forms of parenting, ranging from family dynamics to which parents are present, as observed all around the world. In both Deborah Garrison's "Sestina For The Working Mother" and Galway Kinnell's "After Making Love We Hear Footsteps," the theme of parenting is explored through the use of tone, imagery, and symbolism.

The characters in Parenthood appear to be the evolving family for the 1990’s. The Buckman family is comprised of four different parts that include a Grandma, Grandpa, and Larry, the youngest child; Gill, one of the fathers; Karen, Gill’s wife; Kevin, Gill’s oldest son; Taylor, Gill’s only daughter; Justin, Gill’s youngest son; Helen, a single mom; Julie, Helen’s only daughter; Gary, Helen’s only son; Nathan, one of the fathers; Susan, Nathan’s wife; and Patty, Nathan’s only girl. This paper will address the Buckman’s evolving family, including the dynamics of change in the family and strategies for coping with change. The first family in the Buckman family is Gill and Karen.

She gives the reader both physical and emotional descriptions of the main ones. Mama is an apparently a laid back and very caring human being. One feels the motherhood radiating as she sits outside waiting for Dee. Any person who has been away from home will know the feeling of coming home and having a mother waiting. Even as she is waiting for Dee, her brain is still on her other daughter who is home and who is emotionally distraught.
