as posadas is a religious festival that is a key part of Christmas Traditions in Mexico and in some parts of the United States. Las posadas is celebrated from December 16th to the 24th, the nine nights leading up until Christmas. The nine nights represent the nine months that Joseph was in Mary's womb. Posadas may sometimes be confused as a Christmas party, but they are in fact a religious event. Las posadas honor the journey from Nazareth to Bethleham that Mary and Joseph made in search of a place of refuge where baby Jesus could be given birth to by Mary.

Bernal Diaz del Castillo Bernal Diaz was born in 1492 or 1498 to Maria Diaz Rejón and Francisco Diaz del Castillo, a regidor (council member) of the town of Medina del Campo, in Castilla y León. The travels of Álvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca Álvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca was born around 1490 in a small Spanish town called Jerez. He was believed to have grown up with his grandparents, because his parent died when he was young. Cabeza de Vaca left Spain for the Americas in June 1527. In April 1528, the ship's captain, Narváez, landed near present-day Tampa Bay, Florida with his large army of soldiers and settlers. Even with shortages of food, the Spanish made its way first north and then west along the southern coast of Florida to the Gulf of Mexico in Florida’s panhandle.

His family was a respected military family, but were very poor. At the age of fourteen he was sent away by his parents to learn latin. His parents were very poor and wanted him to study law because he was the future of the family.

Bartolome de Las Casas was born in 1848 in Spain. Las Casas was a Spanish historian and dominican missionary who objected the Spanish treatment of the Natives. Las Casas is known for his famous writings which weren’t published until many years after his death. Las Casas was not like any ordinary man in his time period. He opposed to several things the Spanish had against the Natives.

The legend of the Virgen de Guadalupe has become a common symbol of hope to many incoming immigrants of Latin American countries. Due to U.S. governmental and economic interventions in Latin American countries, it has caused many people to migrate as refuges and flee unstable environments. These mass migrations have been followed by torturous trails and stories that many times end in death or abuse, however, other times it has allowed refugees to move away and live stable lives in the U.S. However, once in the U.S., these immigrants are faced with discriminatory policy based on false accusations that makes their lives unsafe and unprotected. Therefore, Latinx religious faith becomes a strong component of community for these groups.

When I was little my mom introduced me to bands like Mana, artists like Romeo Santos, or Selena Quintanilla she would listen to, when she was growing up. Pedro Alonso Lopez, also known as Monster of the Andes, was a colombian serial killer who was sentenced for killing eighty girls, but he claimed he murded and rapped about three hundred. Pedro Lopez was known for raping girls around his country then moved to Peru and Ecuador and all around. Pedros dad died when Benilda; his mother, was three months pregnant with her son at the time of his father's death.

On March 24th in the country of Argentina a recent holiday has been appended since being widely accepted as a public holiday in 2006, known as “Day of Remembrance for Truth and Justice”.
