Why should you study to be a Medical Assistant? Making an income while making an impact on someone's life. Doesn't that sound like a rewarding career? That is exactly what you can expect if you choose to be a Medical assistant. Medical assistants are vital, versatile members of the health care industry, performing variety of administrative and clinical tasks to ensure patients get the care they need.

Every dime I earn working at Reynolds Community College and every grant and scholarship I receive will go towards my passion of studying human behavior and applying everything I learn to bringing every community I can reach, a giant leap forward. After receiving my associates degree in Social a Science I decided to take a year off to work towards finding what it is that I really want to pursue. I have searched for that 'something ' that will keep me intrigued and awake all hours of the night without realizing it. I have eliminated the idea of simply working to make ends meet or finding a good job to support my family and "living" outside the 40+ hours of a weekday job. I am pursuing much more and I am confident that I have found a path leading me to wake up before my alarm clock sounds instead of praying for more time.

Most individuals have a defining moment in their lives, where they know where their life is headed. Pursuing a degree, as a physician assistant for me did not happen in a single moment but a collection of moments. My mother’s battle with heart disease, a father collapsing on the ground unresponsive, watching first hand the initial incision of an ACL reconstruction to the head of an academic program suggesting a masters in physician assistant. An accumulation of these moments has driven me to unite my interests to accomplish and contribute more to healthcare. Throughout my physical therapy assistant program, I excelled but not due to pure intelligence.

Many people consider a job in the medical field most likely because it is widely accepted that if you are a doctor then you are rich. What turns most people away is the eight years of college and a lifetime of loans to pay off. When I was younger, I always wanted to be an orthopedic surgeon, but in fourth grade when you hear, you will have to go to four more years on top of the twelve you have left, your hopes are probably going to die down. I haven’t really thought about a job in the medical field until this year when I went to an orthopedic walk-in for an x-ray. The person I saw was a physician’s assistant, my mom proceeded to tell me how they are not very different from someone with a Ph.D., they can prescribe medicine and are able to choose

For the past 18 years I wanted to do something practical and respected. Belonging to the model minority emphasized that belief even more. Due to those factors, I wanted to be an otolaryngologist specializing in laryngology. I thought this way I could get somewhat close to my passion of singing while raking in the prestige and cash. So then I decided to apply to schools with strong pre-med programs, but I also kept in mind my love for music, resulting in me applying to numerous liberal arts colleges.

I have heard several stories of my parents’ relatives, close friends or associates who lost their lives in accidents to illness. These stories could have had different, happier endings, I often concluded. I know of an eleven-year-old girl diagnosed with Alopecia Areata, laughing uncontrollably after watching her doctor make funny faces. For a moment, not only did this little girl forget that she was losing hair, but her smile expressed joy and the beauty of being alive. At this point I thought that a doctor would not only work on treating the physical condition of the patient but would have a big role in bringing joy in spite of their hopeless condition.

I am a 27-year-old mother and fiancé. My goal is to complete my science prerequisite classes with 4.0’s so that I can apply to the Physician Assistant program at Western Michigan University. I graduated in 2015 with a Bachelors in Criminal Justice from WMU and I am currently working as a Medical Assistant. I have a son named Lorenzo, his first birthday is a couple hours away! In my very limited free time I like to work out through a program called Fit Body Boot Camp.

As a student pursuing dental assisting, I am dedicated to embodying the core values of service, team player, and innovation in my work. To me, service means putting the needs of others before mine and going above and beyond to provide satisfaction and comfort for others. I want to be a physician because I want people to grow old. At the age of 6, one of my closest friends was diagnosed with leukemia. By age 8, the disease claimed his life, robbing him of the opportunity to experience the privilege of growing old. Unfortunately, we live in a society of vanity. We see the process of aging and choose not to embrace it.

The profession I have chosen to pursue is that of a Physician Assistant. My reason for this selection is because it gives you the independency of a Physician while having somewhat less responsibilities. A Physician Assistant provides healthcare services typically performed by a physician, under the supervision of a physician. Some of these services include but are not limited to examining and treating patients, diagnosing illnesses and counseling patients. In some case physician assistants are also tasked to prescribe medicine to patients.

After four years of working as Medical Technologist II at Quest Diagnostics, one of the largest diagnostics laboratories institute in the world, and one year at the National Institute of Health (NIH) the world most prestigious research organizations in the world and also the world 's foremost medical research center I wanted to return to the academic life and start graduate classes in Health and Medical policy in my home school George Mason University. Right after I graduated with a degree in Medical Technology from GMU, I decided to join the field of diagnostics to apply the knowledge that I have learned and also to gain new experience by being part of the clinical environment, moreover to get the feeling of what the real life of a medical technologists and laboratory scientists feels like. I enjoy and appreciate every single second of my work. Not everyone gets the opportunity to be part of a team that have such huge impact on humans life by utilizing cutting-edge instruments and techniques and discussing results and ideas with physicians, nurse, and scientists, Although I enjoy handling the complex equipment and processing results, I realized that I am not going to be satisfied with carrying out routine procedures under the direction of Superiors.
