During the first part of the speech Marin talked about the different forms of inequality the African Americans faced, such as public segregation, discrimination and police brutality. He explained that what was happening was not what the United States had promised in the Constitution and the Emancipation Proclamation. Then in the second part of the speech the most unexpected thing happened. King was going on talking about what he planned, but Mahalia Jackson yelled, “Tell them about your dream Martin!” This was not part of the plan, but King went with it anyway. He started with, “I say to you today, my friends, though, even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream...I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up, live out the true meaning of its creed: we hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal." Throughout history, civil rights have been a persistent issue, as far back as enslavement in the First Civilizations, such as Mesopotamia. With the issues however, a great many people have stood up for the rights of themselves and others. None of these people have been more prominent than Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. King was the person who most impacted civil right because of the sheer number of people he captivated, as well as his calls for change being carried out in a nonviolent manner. Not many people have the power of persuasion, and even fewer possess it to the degree held by Dr. King. "
Deluged with remarkable linguistics, King’s rhetoric wholly epiphanized and unified a country that had been stricken with unrest by war and hate and thus became the epitome of the March on Washington and the summation of the Civil Rights Movement Summarized Speech The speech encapsulates the desire to remain equal among the exalted American people, those of White color. In the ever changing world, the most drastic change of all is the time period of the civil rights movement. There’s many historical figures that emerged from this time period, and one of those figures being Martin Luther King Jr. MLK was known for being an incredible spokesperson, a kind, loving man, and was a strong leader for nonviolence to achieve equal rights for Black Americans. “I Have a Dream,” however, played a major step into changing it. It managed to inspire a generation of blacks to never give up and made thousands of white Americans bitterly ashamed of their actions, forging a new start for society. Even now, it continues to make generations of people, not just Americans, to give up their racist beliefs and advocate social colorblindness. Without King, America would be probably still heavily segregated. Other than the speech’s heartwarming and moving content, King’s effective structure along with the usage of all three rhetorical modes and certain rhetorical tropes and schemes has revealed the reason “I Have a Dream” as a masterpiece of rhetoric and it persuades hundreds of thousands of people support the blacks instead of treating them
