Martin Luther King Jr.'s I Have A Dream

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is an influential and important figure in African American history and the civil rights movement. He peacefully fought for equal treatment between whites and blacks. He never backed down, holding his head up high. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is famous for his “I Have a Dream” speech and his “Letter from Birmingham Jail”. Both influenced many to join in his fight for equal rights, but his “Letter from Birmingham Jail” was more effective in this struggle.

Martin Luther King Jr. was a very success man and well known around America. Martin was an American Baptist minister and activist who became the most visible spokesperson and leader in the Civil Rights Movement. Dr.Martin Luther king Jr was a Baptist minister and social activist. He led the civil rights movement and he used non violent protests to get the freedom that other blacks and himself deserved. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered this speech in a time of great civil unrest and the increasing of racial tensions. He showed many outstanding qualities ,perseverance,organizational ideas,dignity and respect. He was influenced by the idea of refusing to cooperate with an evil and unequal system.

He was an activist that made a significant impact on the world and especially America because he fought for his cause when segregation was an important thing in the US. A big time that he stood up for his and a lot of colored people's rights was at the Selma to Montgomery march in 1965 and this was an important protest because it was a bunch of people fighting for the right to vote. Also, Martin Luther King got shot on April 4, 1968, in a hotel at 6:05 when he was standing outside on the balcony of his hotel room. James Earl Ray was the guy that shot him, and he did it because he thought that the colored should not have any rights and he did not like that he was making change in the US. Martin Luther King supports this quote because he fought for years and years and he finally got what he was working for.

He talked about how he wanted black girls and boys to be treated the same way as white girls and boys. He became the most visible spokesperson in the Civil Rights movement.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr is known for his strategy of nonviolent civil disobedience, which he used to advance the civil rights of black Americans who had been treated as second-class citizens for more than a century. King was an American Baptist minister, activist, humanitarian, and leader in the African-American Civil Rights Movement. He was a man that persuaded people worldwide to follow him during the Civil Rights Movement. King was a very passionate, caring man. A great leader that pushed and motivated blacks to achieve equal rights for all.

He also encouraged others to speak out about racism and equality. Martin Luther King Jr help shape the United States to what it is today. I think Martin Luther King Jr. is mixed with two hero archetypes: one being a perfect hero and the other one being a misfit. He is a perfect hero because because he has good morals.

In the ever changing world, the most drastic change of all is the time period of the civil rights movement. There’s many historical figures that emerged from this time period, and one of those figures being Martin Luther King Jr. MLK was known for being an incredible spokesperson, a kind, loving man, and was a strong leader for nonviolence to achieve equal rights for Black Americans. King was an incredible individual and helped many African Americans receive their equality they rightfully deserved. King achieved this through speeches, on being his famous “I have a dream” which he said in front of thousands on August 28th 1963 at the Lincoln memorial in Washington D.C. He also wrote the letter from Birmingham jail when he was arrested in Alabama on April 16th 1963, which put an end to fallacies said by eight Alabama clergymen.

Martin Luther King Jr., a minister and social activist, led the Civil Rights Movement in the United States from the mid-1950s until his death by assassination in 1968. He was an advocate for equality between all races and a civil and economic rights Activist. Because of his leadership, bravery and sacrifice to make the world a better place, Martin Luther King was awarded with the Nobel Peace Prize. His incredible public speaking skills and ability to properly get his message across can clearly be scene throughout the speech. Martin Luther King Jr. helped us realize that segregation and poverty are wrong. He also helped us realize that we should treat people the same. No matter race, color, or gender. He has impacted our everyday lives with the Civil Rights Act and his “I Have a Dream…” speech. He is an important man with an important history.

Martin Luther King’s speech, “I Have a Dream” is vastly recognized as one of the best speeches ever given. His passionate demand for racial justice and an integrated society became popular throughout the Black community. His words proved to give the nation a new vocabulary to express what was happening to them. Martin was famously a pacifist, so in his speech, he advocated peaceful protesting and passively fighting against racial segregation.

In 1963, Martin Luther King delivered one of the most influential and impactful speeches in history. King's I Have a Dream speech was consistently powerful assertions of emotional appeals, repetition and paradox. In King’s speech, he utilizes pathos to build a relationship between his black and white audience. This is evident through his references to both  black and white children and the history of slavery which appealed to the audience members of the older generation.

I found I Have a Dream by Martin Luther King Jr to be the most compelling because it made people realize that these people were really that, people. One of the reasons that I felt it was moving because in one of his lines Martin Luther said,” We were promised freedom that we fought for but what we were given instead was operation that no man should have faced.” In this quote MLK is saying that when the blacks fought along sides the whites in the american revolutionary war they were told they would be let free but they were not.
