artin Luther King Jr.’s inspirational quote, “If I cannot do great things, I will do small things in a great way” is meant to inspire all people to improve in some way. Even though many improvements to the world start small, there is also merit in what one person does to make their own personal world a better place. Not everyone will be recorded in the history books, many will not even be notable. But everyone can do something to make the world a better place. Even if that action only affects one person. In modern American society the bar for achievement and success is being set higher and higher. A few decades ago, obtaining a college degree was an accomplishment only the upper class could obtain. Yet even now students are returning to school to obtain master’s and PhD’s since bachelor’s degrees are becoming the new standard to obtain a job with a living wage. Media is flooded with stories of young entrepreneurs in their teens and early twenties that have placed a new app or software on the market and are on their way to becoming billionaires, while countless students today are drowning in student debt. Content creators on websites such as YouTube are struggling to be noticed while the top Internet stars are receiving thousands of views by the …show more content…

These students are committed to making a change in any way that they can, with or without the cooperation of politicians. They are young, but they are organized and have a strength and sense of community that is to be admired. That they are all looking out for each other and the future, even in the midst of grieving for those they have lost and in the wake of politicians and civilians intent on working against them. Even if many of them are not of voting age, it will be up to me and other people within my generation to stand up for them in future
