I have driven by the Makawao Veterans Cemetery but have never stop and paid my respects. I respect those like your friend’s grandfather and your own grandfather for serving their country in order for us to have our own freedom. I thought it was so sweet that your friend’s grandmother shared stories about the love she had for her husband. There is something I like about how the military cemeteries are mad and organize. They are so put together and nicely maintained and with the American flags these cemeteries just command respect.
The colonial park cemetery is one of the most haunted locations in all of savannah, Georgia. The cemetery opened in 1750. Today it is the oldest burial ground. There where very few burial grounds prior to 1750. Most of them have been shut down to build roads and other things like parks.
Did you know that there is a cemetery that holds every found soldier that ever fought in World War 1, World War 2, and The Korean war? Well yes, the Arlington National Cemetery holds more than four hundred thousand people over six hundred acres of land. It is the world's most important cemetery. You may wonder how the government found this land, and said,”Hey lets use this land as a cemetery.”
Consider using a photo of them in their uniform so that others will know that they are a war veteran, even if they are just passing by the headstone and take a quick glance. Select A Shape For The Headstone Another option is to select a shape for the headstone that will show that they once served their country. This can be done by selecting a headstone that is in the shape of a flag, with the etchings also showing the stars and stripes to really make it stand out.
A memorial day for me was one Friday night at a dance at Flandreau Indian Boarding School in South Dakota. I went to this Boarding School, not knowing what to expect. My father had gone to this same Boarding School many years before I had. He graduated from there and I was hoping to do the same. Me and my very good friend of mine, we had the crazy idea to go to the school together to escape the realities of our home town.
Missouri Veterans Commission is a state agency that provides veteran benefits. It was established by the Missouri Statute. The state of Missouri is one of the top states for veteran benefits. The size of a hierarchy varies depending on a variety of things.
It not only honors the lost, but it makes war seem so much more bleak and saddening. Maya Lin did a great job designing a memorial for the Vietnam War. It was functional, simplistic, and made us really think deep down about what war can do to people, not just those killed but the many of us affected
In conclusion, we should always remember those who fought and are still fighting for us not just one time a year but everyday. We should be thankful for a veteran, because we have freedom to do the things we love where some countries do not get that privilege. We can hunt , fish, play basketball and see our friends and family. Some countries don’t get the freedom that we do.
Arlington National Cemetery Good evening ladies and gentleman. I am your tour guide, Ava Cabrera. Green Acres Cemetery really surprised me with all of the different types of memorials they had there. While most of the grave markers were traditional-looking headstones, there were also several giant and elaborate memorials. There was one memorial in particular towards the back of the cemetery that had a concrete divider around the whole plot and it contained a whole family. There was a very large memorial in a tombstone shape at the head of the plot that had a picture of the husband, wife, and daughter-who was holding her puppy, and one single date of death for all three of them engraved into it. The memorial had steps coming down from it, and a bench attached as well and all appeared to be made out
Thank you for putting your life out there for us. Thank you for protecting people's families. And thank you for putting this country first. Veterans day is for people like you to be thanked for all you guys did for this country. But people like you deserve more.
According to president obama, all countries should come together to honor our fellow veterans on Memorial Day. I strongly agree with this claim, regardless of what had happened 50 years ago between these countries; it is best to forgive and move on because each and every country knew what they were signing up for and the consequences that they would have to face. However, these countries are always at war, so coming together once a year to show our gratitude to the veterans that fought for their individual country is the best way to honor them. Thus , soldiers did what they thought was protecting their own country and risked their lives to protect their people, so each country can afford to sacrifice one day on their behalf. Memorial day is
I have a few people in my family that are veterans. Their service means alot to me. I admire them for their for their bravery and loyalty to their country. They inspire me in many ways such as to be brave even if the situation requires only a small act of bravery, and to speak out against something I know is wrong. To me veterans need to be honored every day for their service.
“Mammita’s Garden Cove” by Cyril Dabydeen tells the story of a protagonist Max, who demonstrates nostalgia of an island he once lived on whilst living in urban, downtown Toronto. Relying on the use of, repetition, diction, and juxtaposition Dabydeen successfully conveys the emotion of mild regret and ultimately complex attitude towards place held by the protagonist. Permeated throughout the excerpt are examples of repetition; emphasizing the despairing nature of the protagonist as he searches for a job. Dabydeen highlights the way in which Max’s sullen attitude towards his current place of residence. The author repeats the image of feet kicking into the ground on two separate occasions, “feet kicking hard ground” (line 4) and “His heels pressed

The novel Five Days at Memorial by Sheri Fink gives an inside view of what happened at Memorial Hospital during Hurricane Katrina (2005); a disaster inside of a disaster. The lack of preparedness or ethical decision making is quite disappointing, considering Memorial hospital is located in New Orleans, Louisiana. New Orleans is well below sea level, and experiences frequent hurricanes and flooding. Memorial hospital itself had little to no plan for evacuating patients once the storm hit. Without power, many of the patients, especially those who were ventilator dependent, became at risk of death.
