The downfall in the life of Macbeth is all his own fault despite the influence from Lady Macbeth and the three witches. As shown at the start of the play, Macbeth is a courageous warrior who won the battle for Scotland. With the impact of the three witches, Macbeth was fallen into deep, dark thoughts. Macbeth led himself to the downfall of his life. He was the hero, who fought in the war between Scotland and Norwegians and gain victory but eventually turned into a tragic hero. In Macbeth’s downfall, the witches and Lady Macbeth played a part and they did affect Macbeth’s life. Even though Macbeth felt guilty after killing Duncan, he continued his journey through the wrong path. “Will all great Neptune’s ocean wash this blood.” Macbeth felt no guilt at all in killing his close friend, Banquo. He sends an army to kill Macduff and his family. Towards the end of the play, Macbeth became a person completely different. Macbeth, himself took these decisions and caused the downfall in his life. He had the taste of power with becoming the king. After having more power, greediness led him to murder Banquo and Macduff’s family. It is clearly shown that Macbeth was aware of what he was doing and knew the consequences. Macbeth really became the “dead butcher”, which Malcolm talked about. He did not hesitate to do whatever it takes to get what he wanted. This was the downfall in his life. Macbeth’s status went from a respected man to be known as a dead butcher. People may argue that his downfall was because of the three witches and Lady Macbeth. It is clear that it was Macbeth’s fault for his downfall because of he, himself chose the wrong path. He had the choice of avoiding people but, he did not even after feeling guilty of what he did. Macbeth’s downfall in life cannot be blamed on anyone else, but
