As a result,Hamlet can never trust his uncle’s wicked ways to get into people’s heads. Hamlet was betrayed by his friends because they worked for Claudius and gave orders from him, which caused him to not trust them either. For example, when Claudius summons Guildenstern and Rosencrantz to spy on Hamlet,Claudius said,”see if you can make Hamlet feel better and see if you can get info on what he is up to”(Shakespeare 87). This behavior shows evil purposes and twisted words. Claudius sends Hamlet’s friends to make him happier but also use them to see if Hamlet is mad. Plus Claudius continues to see if he can find out what is causing his madness. In addition, when Hamlet’s deceitful friends look for Polonius’s body and asks Hamlet where it is,Hamlet said,”You sir are a sponge. Yes,sir,a sponge that soaks up the king’s approval, his rewards, and his decisions”(Shakespeare 218-219). This behavior showed disloyalty and not telling the truth. When they look for the old man’s corpse and they go to Hamlet he tells them to go to his uncle to serve as slaves who will be paid instead of working for Hamlet to just serve him for friendship. So this pushes Hamlet to lead his friends to their death. As a result,Hamlet was betrayed by his comrades who works for a king that is a murderer who took another king’s …show more content…
For example, when the ghost of King Hamlet secretly reveals to Hamlet what happened to how he died, the ghost said,”that snake poured a vial of henbane poison into my ear”(Shakespeare 65). This behavior displayed pure evil and treachery. This led Hamlet to make sure that he pays for taking everything from him. In addition, when Claudius killed Hamlet’s father while he was living in peace, the ghost said,”He cut me off in the middle of a sinful life”(Shakespeare 65). This behavior caused disrespect and cruelness. While the king is sleeping like he is in heaven Claudius took that from him and sent him into purgatory. This made Hamlet feel even more angry against his uncle and wants to put him to an end. As a result,Hamlet wants to destroy Claudius for every wrong deed he did. Canales 3 Hamlet is severely motivated into killing for his actions. It shows that Hamlet is vicious against his uncle. As we can see the evil snake Claudius married Hamlet’s mother who lost her husband. Now that it was revealed Hamlet inside is plotting to find a way to break them apart. In the movie Life of Pi and Hamlet they both related to the theme, Appearance vs reality. Some people didn’t turn out as they say they are and some people acted different than they usually would. In the movie Hamlet, His mother noticed his strange appearance in act 1 scene one. His choice to appear insane drives him to try murder Claudius in an unforeseen way.
In William Shakespeare’s, “The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark”, a young prince named Hamlet is depressed and misguided. His father, the King has died and his mother Gertrude has already remarried his uncle Claudius. Hamlet is absolutely torn until his father’s ghost visits the castle and entreats Hamlet to avenge his death and kill his uncle King Claudius. Hamlet begins to test Claudius with plays and when Claudius finds out, all he has by his side is his councilor Polonius. Polonius tries to entrap Hamlet in every way possible, even by using his daughter Ophelia.
All events that take place in the play resulted from one single choice made by King Claudius. He chooses to poison his brother, the former king, so he is able to marry the Queen and become a part of royalty. This cruel and despicable action results in six different deaths that could have been avoided if he had not taken action. Not only does he cause this chain reaction of deaths, his cruelty spreads like a rampant disease throughout the kingdom. This causes Hamlet to be fixated upon his uncle's death because of what he did to his father.
Hamlet's uncle claudius killed king hamlet out of envy. It was envy for the throne and for the power to be the king of denmark. In act three scene three he clearly states that he murdered king hamlet for his own ambition, for the crown and for the queen of denmark, Gertrude. A lot of the deadly sin envy goes around throughout the story of hamlet. A lot of people want something someone else has.
As Claudius repents, Hamlet feels as though it's the best time to kill him until he says: And so ’a goes to Heaven; And so am I revenged. That would be scanned. A villain kills my father; and for that, I, his son, do this same villain send To heaven (3.3.73-78) Essentially, Hamlet wanted to murder Claudius because he was the Old King’s murderer.
He is the Prince of Denmark and is next in line for the thrown. After his father’s death, his uncle sweeps the throne with his ambition and left Hamlet deserted. With his father being murdered, his mother quickly giving her affections to Claudius, and Claudius stealing Hamlet’s crown, Hamlet feels that he cannot trust anyone in his family anymore. This forces Hamlet to be depressed and it establishes a mental conflict between himself and his family members. Also, Hamlet feels and shows affection for Ophelia.
Hamlet, also, could not get over the death of his father. He found out when his father’s ghost came back that his brother, and Hamlet’s uncle, murdered him. He then was willing to do anything possible to get revenge on Claudius, his uncle. Both of
This amorality stems from his desire to avenge the “rank and gross[ly]” (Shakespeare, 29) cruel actions of his uncle, the King Claudius. In the end however, both Hamlet and Claudius die with little pomp, victims of each other in a cyclical stream of karma. Shakespeare uses this eventuality to denounce the use of cruelty as a means to an end, for it brings nought but meaningless death. The fact that Hamlet becomes so cruel specifically because of Claudius’ treachery is a testament to the relationship between oppressor and oppressed. As Hamlet becomes that which he once hated, Shakespeare emphasizes the fact that the line between victim and oppressor is often more blurred than defined.
Claudius had arranged an execution for Hamlet, to get rid of him permanently. Behind these acts of deception, we can see Claudius had wanted power, and would do anything to achieve it. This makes
When Hamlet meets with the ghost King Hamlet in the opening scene, he realizes that his father is murdered by Claudius. From Act I scene 5, the ghost King Hamlet is asking Hamlet to seek for revenge, “So art thou to revenge, when thou shalt hear” (1.5.12). By knowing this, Hamlet starts the revenge for his father and sets the tone of the entire play where death, revenge, murder, and suicide become the symbols of the whole play, and leads to the deaths of almost all the characters, including Claudius, Laertes, Polonius, Ophelia, Queen Gertrude, Rosencrantz, Guildenstern, and Hamlet himself. Also, because of his father’s death and his mother’s quick marriage with Claudius, Hamlet has the idea of committing suicide. From Act I scene 2, "O, that this too sullied flesh would melt,Thaw, and resolve itself to dew" (1.2.133-134).
He is grieving the death of his father. Meanwhile, Claudius was likely voted king by the court. Hamlet is very cruel to his mother, Gertrude. This is an effect of Hamlet not having the time to grieve his father, instead he comes back to Denmark only to see his uncle marry his mother. This is causing him to be upset thus his cruelty towards his
As if what Hamlet was living was not extreme enough, the ghost of his father begins to appear to demand revenge for his death. Hamlet found out through his father’s goth that he was murdered by Hamlet’s uncle. It is very difficult to imagen the level of pain, anger, and desire of revenge after losing both parents under so bizarre circumstances. The evil actions of the uncle to take control of the throne, I have no doubt,
In the play Hamlet by William Shakespeare, Hamlet’s main goal throughout the play is to kill Claudius; this also happened to be the main problem Hamlet fought the play. Hamlet kept hesitating to kill Claudius, he would always say now is not the time. Hamlet knew if he wanted revenge he had to kill Claudius; while he was sinning so Claudius would not have time to be forgiven for his sins; just like Hamlet’s father. Taking revenge and killing Claudius is a difficult task for Hamlet to accomplish, Hamlet questions everything before acting upon his goal. Hamlet’s father King Hamlet got murdered by Claudius by pouring poison in King Hamlet’s ear while he was asleep.
