Edith Lucille Howard (1885-1960) was a painter, illustrator, and Director of the Wilmington Academy of Art and the Delaware Art Center. Madam C.J. Walker Madam C.J. Walker was one of the first American women to become a self-made millionaire. She was born Sarah Breedlove on December 23, 1867. Walker was orphaned at six, married at fourteen, and widowed at twenty with a two-year-old daughter to care for. She resettled in St. Louis and went to work as a laundress. Her early years reflected patterns that were all too common for black women in her generation.

On the night of July 4, 1954 Marilyn Sheppard was brutally murdered. On this night, in Cleveland, Ohio, she was beaten to death in her home. Liza Lou was born in 1969 in New York City but was raised in the city of Los Angeles. She is a contemporary artists who does a lot of sculpture for her art work in the past years. Her plan in her creation of the art work is to recruit many unemployed artisans to help her with her art with laying down all the beadwork that is needed in most of her pieces. In 2002, Lou had won a $500,000 genius grant from the MacArthur Foundation which has been used to create many of her bead works. This is how she has been able to create all her crazy creations and has a lot more ideas to show to the public.

Many people in this world have saint-like qualities to them. They could be acts like protesting for human rights or healing the sick. Dorothy Day, an activist of the 20th century, had both of these qualities and many more that prove her worthy of sainthood. She devoted herself to the Catholic faith and as time went on spent more and more of an effort trying to help others in need. To begin, I absolutely love Day’s quote, “A pebble cast into a pond causes ripples that spread in all directions.

In Alice Walker 's "Everyday Use" the message abut the preservation of heritage, specifically African American, is very clear. Walker believes that a person 's heritage should be a dynamic part of the culture from which it arose. Walker was born in Eatonton,Georgia to sharecroppers (her parents). Walker, as well as other analyst, demonstrated why readers ' heritage should be accepted. Walker based this short story on a poor family in Georgia.

When she moved to America she found a husband she loved very much and together they adopted a child. However, he died and she missed him for the rest of his life. She was left with a child who sure as hell did not appreciate her for the woman she was. Despite all of this, she loved life and was full of love. She taught me, indirectly, that no matter your circumstances in life, you have every reason to be happy still.
